CROSSCALL X-COMM Remote Microphone or Speaker

The quick start guide will show you how to get started with your new device.
USING THE X-COMM FOR THE FIRST TIME

CHARGE:
Via X-LINK™: Place the X-LINK™ connector (4) of the X-COMM on a charging device of the X-LINK™* ecosystem, e.g. X-DOCK, X-CAR and X-POWER STATION (see complete list on the crosscall.com website).
Via USB: Open the waterproof cap (16) and plug in the X-COMM using the USB-C cable provided.
The LED light will turn red to indicate that the product is charging. The LED indicator gradually fills in until charging is complete and the LED indicator is full. It is possible to recharge the battery even if it is detached from the main X-COMM unit. -
GETTING STARTED:
Press and hold the «On/Off & Discreet Mode» button (9) for 5 seconds to turn on the X-COMM. The LED indicator will light up green, and an audible signal followed by a voice indicating «Power On» will activate. All the sound signals can be disabled using the «X-COMM app». -
CONNECTION:
Via Bluetooth®: On powering on, Bluetooth® is automatically activated, a voice indicates «Bluetooth® connection». To activate or deactivate Bluetooth®, press the «On/Off & Discreet Mode» button (9) 3 times. A voice will indicate «Bluetooth® on» or «Bluetooth® off». The 2 LEDs will flash alternately green and red. To identify your X-COMM, find the ID on the top right-hand corner of the X-COMM.- Option 1: On your device, turn on Bluetooth® and look for the X-COMM in the list of detected devices.
- Option 2: If your device is equipped with Near Field Communication (contactless technology), place the back of your device near the PTT2 soft button (14).
- Option 3: With your device, scan thanks to the «X-COMM app» application, the QR code located on the top back of the X-COMM.
Once paired, you will hear a voice saying «Connected», and you will not be able to pair another smartphone without resetting the X-COMM to factory settings.
Via cable: Use the X-LINK™ cable and plug the USB-C connector into the USB-C port (12) of the X-COMM, and the X-LINK™ connector to your terminal. Connecting the cable automatically disables Bluetooth®.

SHUT DOWN: Press and hold the «On/Off & Discreet Mode» button (9) for 5 seconds to turn off the X-COMM. The LED indicator will light up red, and a voice saying «X-COMM off» will activate.
Communication
Press and hold one of the 2 PPT buttons (3 or 14) throughout the conversation.
You will hear a beep to indicate that the communication channel is open. Let
go of the button when you have finished. A beep sound will let you know when
it is closed.
DISCREET MODE
Briefly press 2 times the «On/Off & Discreet Mode» button (9) to switch off
the speaker and the LEDs. The sound can still be heard via the 3.5mm jack.
Briefly press 2 times the same button again to reactivate the speaker and the
LEDs. A «Discreet Mode Off» voice prompt will tell you that the speaker is
activated.
Adjusting the volume
Press the volume + or – button (8) once to increase or decrease the volume by
one level (level 0 = 0%: no sound – level 10 = 100%: maximum volume).
Pressing and holding the volume + or – button (8) will continuously decrease
(down to 0%) or increase (up to 80%) the sound volume of the X-COMM. The
remaining 20% of volume are available by pressing the volume + (8) button
twice more.
Each time the volume changes, you will hear a beep. This is a low-volume
signal that gradually increases as the volume of the X-COMM increases. At
level 8 (80%), the beep is accompanied by a «Be careful» voice prompt. At
level 10 (100%), the beep is accompanied by a «Maximum level» voice prompt.
Emergency button
Press and hold the emergency button (6) for 3 seconds. This activates a beep
sound followed by a «Emergency» voice prompt.
Bluetooth®
The Bluetooth® system is permanently activated. This is used for pairing with
a smartphone up to 2 metres away. Bluetooth® switches off automatically when
the X-COMM is connected to a smartphone via the USB C/X-LINK™* cable. The
optimal transmission distance between the X-COMM and the smartphone is up to
10 metres.
Battery and indicators
The X-COMM battery is designed to last for 20 hours of intensive use with the
sound level at maximum volume (60% standby, 20% transmission and 20%
reception). The battery takes about 2 hours to reach 100% charge.
The X-COMM has LED lights (11) which indicate the status of the battery:
- 1 lit bar indicates a battery charge of 25% or less
- 2 lit bars indicate a battery charge between 26% and 50%
- 3 lit bars indicate a battery charge between 51% and 75%
- 4 lit bars indicate a battery charge between 76% and 100%
If you see a single flashing bar, it means the X-COMM needs charging.
Reset the x-comm (factory settings)
To reset your X-COMM to factory settings, and remove the X-COMM from the
device it is paired with, press 8 times the «On/Off & Discreet Mode» button
(9).
X-comm programming
The X-COMM buttons, alerts, voices, and LEDs are programmed using the «X-COMM
app» on your smartphone (Android compatible).

PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
- Small parts may cause choking.
- Always store this device between 0 and 40 degrees to maximize its lifespan.
- It is recommended that your X-COMM be used in temperatures between 0°C and 40°C.
- Do not expose to dust, direct sunlight, high humidity, heat or any mechanical impacts.
- Avoid impacts.
- If the device overheats, falls or has been damaged, please stop using it immediately.
- Do not allow children or pets to chew or lick the device.
- Do not use harsh cleaning agents or solvents such as petrol or alcohol: risk of damage.
- Be careful with the edges, uneven surfaces, metal parts of this device and its packaging to avoid possible injury or damage.
- Do not modify, repair or disassemble this device. Doing so may result in fire, electric shock, or complete destruction of the device. None of this is not covered by the warranty.
- Do not attempt to change a part by yourself. If a part needs to be changed, contact your dealer.
- This device is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacities, or persons without experience or knowledge, unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or have received prior instructions concerning the use of the device. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the device.
- High volume and prolonged listening can cause hearing loss. Before using your X-COMM, make sure the volume is on low. Increase it gradually.
- If you hear a slight buzz or feel any discomfort, stop using your device immediately. Using your device while driving a motor vehicle, motorcycle, watercraft or even a bicycle is dangerous, and even strictly prohibited in some countries. Be sure to comply with all the standards, measures and laws applicable in your country and relating to the use of your device. Take care in all circumstances.
- If you have a pacemaker or other electrical medical device, you should consult your physician before using this product.
- We recommend that you take regular 15-minute breaks every hour.
- Avoid exposing your device to rain or other liquids.
- Observe the various guidelines and instructions requiring all electrical equipment or equipment emitting radio waves to be switched off in restricted areas (hospitals, aeroplanes).
- Do not leave your battery charging unnecessarily as this may shorten its life.
- Do not expose your device’s microphone to metal particles: these could build up and block the microphone.
- Changes in temperature can increase or decrease pressure on the device, which can affect the quality of the sound. If necessary, open the cap to evacuate the air.
BATTERY USE PRECAUTIONS
- Make sure the battery is charged before first use. This optimises the life of the battery.
- If you don’t use the device, the built-in battery will gradually lose its charge; fully charge the battery every three months if not used for a long time.
- The X-COMM can take a maximum charging current of 2V/5A
- A full recharge takes about 2 hours.
- The battery used in this product may cause burns or chemical burns in case of improper handling.
- Only recharge your battery with approved chargers designed for this product. When unplugging the charger, pull the plug, not the cord.
- Health Recommendations: If liquid coming out of the battery comes into contact with your eyes, wash them immediately and thoroughly with clean water and consult a doctor as it may cause blindness or injury. If liquid coming out of the battery comes into contact with your body or hands, wash thoroughly with water. If liquid coming out of the battery comes into contact with the product, wipe it thoroughly, avoiding direct contact with your hands (use a pair of gloves).
There is a risk that the battery will explode if you replace it with an unsuitable model. Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions
PRECAUTIONS FOR USE AND WATER RESISTANCE
The X-COMM is only waterproof (IP67) when the battery and the X-COMM head
unit are fully clipped together.
- To ensure your X-COMM stay dust and waterproof, always make sure to close the dust cap and check that it is not damaged.
- Do not attempt to charge your X-COMM underwater.
- If your device has been submerged in water or the microphone is wet, the sound may not be clear during a call. It is recommended to wait a few minutes after immersing your device for it to return to its original audio quality. Make sure that the microphone is clean and dry by wiping it with a dry cloth.
- If the device gets wet with salt or chlorinated water, rinse it with tap water, then dry with a soft, clean cloth. Thoroughly wipe the dust caps.
- The device’s water resistance can lead to slight vibrations under certain circumstances. These vibrations, for example when the volume is turned up high, are entirely normal and do not affect the performance of the device.
- Do not remove the waterproof grill and/or membrane that cover the microphone, and do not use any tools likely to damage it (pointed, sharp, etc.).
SAFETY MEASURES
- The charger type is TPA-147A050200VU01, output voltage/current is 5Vdc/2A. The plug considered as disconnect device of adapter.
- Do not throw your device into fire.
- Do not short-circuit.
- Do not incinerate.
- Recycle the battery according to standards in force.
- Charge your device using the USB cable provided. Using a cable that is not compatible could permanently damage your product.
- Ventilation should not be blocked by objects covering the vents (e.g. newspapers, tablecloths, curtains, etc.) to prevent overheating and malfunction. Maintain a free space of at least 10cm around your X-COMM.
- Your product should be used in areas with a temperate climate.
- Do not insert or remove a USB port with wet hands as this could lead to a risk of electric shock.
- Because your X-COMM are equipped with an internal rechargeable battery, do not expose the product to excessive heat (sun, fire, etc.)
- Avoid using the connector to perform several actions at once, and make sure that the battery terminals are noting touch any conductive elements, such as metal or liquid.
PROTECTING YOUR HEARING
Your X-COMM adhere to the regulations in force in terms of limiting the
maximum output volume. Listening with earphones at high volume for extended
periods can cause hearing loss!
- Stop using the product or lower the volume if you feel that your ears are ringing.
- Do not listen on full volume; medical professionals advise against exposure to high noise levels for an extended period of time.
- Use earphones wisely, as excessive sound pressure coming from earbuds or an audio headset can cause hearing loss.
- To prevent damage to your hearing, avoid listening at high volumes for long periods of time.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
Please respect local regulations in terms of waste elimination when you are
getting rid of packaging, the battery or the used product. Take them to a
collection point so they can be properly recycled. Do not dispose of your used
product in ordinary rubbish bins.
This symbol affixed on the product means that it is a device whose treatment
as waste is subject to Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)
regulations.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
- Switch off your X-COMM before any cleaning or maintenance. The charger must be unplugged from the outlet. The X-COMM and charger must be disconnected to avoid electric shock or short circuit of the battery or charger. Close the dust caps.
- Do not clean the X-COMM or charger with chemicals (alcohol, benzene), chemical agents or abrasive cleaners so as not to damage the parts or cause a malfunction. The device can be cleaned with a soft, anti-static, slightly damp cloth, or with tap water following the instructions in the Information on water resistance.
- Do not scratch or tamper with your X-COMM, as the substances in the paint may cause an allergic reaction. If such a reaction occurs, stop using the X-COMM immediately and consult a doctor.
- Do not disassemble the X-COMM or accessories yourself.
WARRANTY CONDITIONS
Your X-COMM, along with the accessories in the box, are guaranteed against any
defect or malfunction that may arise due to their design or manufacture, or an
equipment failure, under normal conditions of use, for the duration of the
warranty period (available to read with our after-sales T&Cs on
www.crosscall.com > Assistance > Warranty) valid
from the date of purchase of the product, as shown on your original invoice.
The commercial warranty automatically terminates at the end of this period.

In the event that your X-COMM have a defect that prevents normal use, you will
need to take your device to our After-Sales Service. Your product will not be
repaired or replaced if the trademarks have been removed or changed, or if
your purchase receipt is missing or illegible. If the lack of conformity or
defect is confirmed, all or part of your product will be replaced or repaired.
This warranty covers the cost of parts as well as labour.
Documents and information to enclose when sending your X-COMM to our After-
Sales Service: A copy of the invoice or receipt, showing the date of purchase,
the type of product, and the name of the distributor;
A description of the fault with the product. We recommend reading the terms
