OHAUS offer different pH electrode for different application. Make sure you have chosen the best fit pH electrode for your samples; and do calibration first for the electrode.
- 3-in-1 electrodes(ST310 and ST320) have the temperature probe in it.
- Gel electrode(ST320) doesn’t need to refill the reference electrolyte.
- 2-in-1 pH electrodes(ST210, ST230, STPURE) need to work with STTEMP30 for 0.01 pH accuracy.
Before using electrode in calibration or measurement, we should note:
- When unpacking, check the electrode for any mechanical damage to the membrane, diaphragm or body.
- Screw off watering cap first, then the lid, rinse electrode with pure water. Wipe electrode with a tissue. Do not rub the glass membrane, or the response time might increase.
- Eliminate any air bubbles inside the membrane. Make the electrode inside pressure equilibrium with the atmosphere by opening the electrode refilling aperture when measurement.
Usage Instructions
- Choose the appropriate pH electrode model for your samples.
- Calibrate the electrode before use.
- For 3-in-1 electrodes (ST310 and ST320), the temperature probe is included in the electrode.
- Gel electrodes (ST320) do not require refilling of the reference electrolyte.
- For 2-in-1 pH electrodes (ST210, ST230, STPURE), use with STTEMP30 for 0.01 pH accuracy.
- Before using the electrode for calibration or measurement, check for any mechanical damage to the membrane, diaphragm, or body.
- Screw off watering cap first, then the lid, rinse electrode with pure water. Wipe electrode with a tissue. Do not rub the glass membrane, or the response time might increase.
- Eliminate any air bubbles inside the membrane. Make the electrode inside pressure equilibrium with the atmosphere by opening the electrode refilling aperture when measured.
- After use, rinse the electrode with pure water and put it into the watering cap. If the solution in the cap is polluted or dry, clean it and fill it with 3M KCl solution.
FAQs
-
What’s the meaning of electrode condition icon?
After calibration, the pH meter will judge the electrode slope and offset, then display the judgment in the screen:- slope > 95%
- Electrode condition is very good
- slope: 90%-95%
- Electrode condition is acceptable
- slope: 85%-90%
- Electrode condition is not good, need recalibration or replace
-
How do you properly store the pH electrode after every use?
Rinse the electrode with pure water, put the electrode into the watering cap. If the solution in the cap is polluted or dry, clean it and fill it with 3M KCl solution. -
What’s the life of the pH electrodes?
Measured samples, storage conditions, and maintenance methods all could influence the life of pH electrodes; normally a pH electrode expires after 12 months.
