Product Information
The Beguda Freda ice maker (model 997150A) complies with international safety specifications IEC60335 and has a power output of 150W. The product features an ice scoop, ice full sensor, ice basket, top cover with transparent window, air vent, water stopper/draining cap, and maximum water level indicator. The appliance is designed to meet strict quality standards for optimal performance and durability.
Product Usage Instructions
- Before using the appliance, read all instructions in the manual carefully and keep them for future reference.
- Clean all parts of the product that will be in contact with food before use.
- Ensure the power cord is not tangled or damaged before use.
- The appliance is not suitable for outdoor use.
- Do not touch the plug with wet hands.
- Press the CLEAN button to activate automatic cleaning when the machine is in standby mode. The display will show 30, indicating 30 minutes for cleaning. Auxiliary tools, such as neutral or food hygiene cleaners, can be used during cleaning.

Safety advice and warnings
Read these instructions carefully before switching on the appliance and keep them for future reference. Failure to follow and observe these instructions could lead to an accident. Clean all the parts of the product that will be in contact with food, as indicated in the cleaning section, before use.
Use or working environment:
- Keep the working area clean and well lit. Cluttered and dark areas invite accidents.
- Use the appliance in a well-ventilated area.
- Do not place the appliance on hot surfaces, such as cooking plates, gas burners, ovens, or similar items.
- Keep children and bystanders away when using this appliance.
- Place the appliance on a horizontal, flat, stable surface suitable for withstanding high temperatures and away from other heat sources and contact with water.
- Keep the appliance away from flammable material such as textiles, curtains, cardboard, or paper, etc.
- Do not place flammable material near the appliance.
- Do not use the appliance in association with a programmer, timer or other device that automatically switches it on.
- Do not use the appliance if the cable or plug is damaged.
- Ensure that the voltage indicated on the rating label matches the mains power supply voltage before plugging in the appliance.
- Connect the appliance to the mains power supply with an earth socket withstanding a minimum of 10 amperes.
- The appliance’s plug must fit into the mains power supply socket properly. Do not alter the plug.
- If using a multi plug check ratings carefully as the current used by several appliances could easily exceed the rating of the multi plug.
- If any of the appliance casings breaks, immediately disconnect the appliance from the mains power supply to prevent the possibility of an electric shock.
- Do not use the appliance if it has fallen on the floor or if there are visible signs of damage.
- Do not force the power cord. Never use the power cord to lift, carry or unplug the appliance.
- Do not wrap the power cord around the appliance.
- Do not clip or crease the power cord.
- Do not allow the power cord to hang or to encounter the hot surfaces of the appliance.
- Check the state of the power cord. Damaged or tangled cables increase the risk of electric shock.
- The appliance is not suitable for outdoor use. 2.1.22. Power cord should be regularly examined for signs of damage, and if the cord is damaged, the appliance must not be used.
- Do not touch the plug with wet hands.
Personal safety:
- CAUTION: Do not leave the appliance unattended during use as there is a risk of an accident.
- Do not touch the heated parts of the appliance, as it may cause serious burns.
- This appliance is only for domestic use, not for industrial or professional use. It is not intended to be used by guests in hospitality environments such as bed and breakfast, hotels, motels, and other types of residential environments, even in farmhouses, areas of the kitchen staff in shops, offices, and other work environments.
- This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. 2.2.5. This appliance is not a toy. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
Use and care:
- Fully unroll the appliance’s power cable before each use.
- Do not use the appliance if the parts or accessories are not properly fitted.
- Do not use the appliance when empty.
- Do not turn the appliance over while it is in use or connected to the mains power supply.
- Unplug the appliance from the mains power supply when not in use and before undertaking any cleaning task.
- This appliance should be stored out of reach of children.
- Do not store the appliance if it is still hot.
- Never leave the appliance unattended when in use and keep out of the reach of children.
- If, for some reason, the appliance was to catch fire, disconnect the appliance from the mains power supply and DO NOT USE WATER TO PUT THE FIRE OUT.
Service:
- Make sure that the appliance is serviced only by suitably qualified technician, and that only original spare parts or accessories are used to replace existing parts/ accessories.
- If the power cord is damaged, the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person must replace it to avoid a hazard.
Any misuse or failure to follow the instructions for use renders the guarantee and the manufacturer’s liability null and void.
Instructions for use
Before first use:
- During transportation, the incline angle of the cabinet should not be over 45°C. Do not turn the ice maker upside down. As this may damage the compressor and sealed system.
- Remove all packing material and carefully check your ice maker to ensure it is in good condition and that there is no damage to the ice maker or power cord and plug.
- The ice maker should be placed horizontally on a level surface. To ensure proper ventilation for your ice maker allow 150mm of space at the top, the back and on each side. Do not install the ice maker near an oven, radiator, or any other heat source.
- Before using the ice maker for the first time, please wait 2 hours after positioning it, and keep the front lid open for at least 2 hours.
Ensure that the voltage indicated on the ice maker corresponds with the voltage in your home.
Use and care:
- Open the cover, remove the ice basket, and pour water into the tank. Keep water level below the max level mark.
- Insert the plug into the wall socket, the temperature will show XX°C.
- Insert the ice basket and close the lid.
- Press ON/OFF button on the control panel to begin the ice making cycle. The screen with indicate an end time countdown clock.
- Select the ice cube size by pressing the L (large) or S (small) button. If the room temperature is lower than 15°C, it is recommended to select small ice cubes to avoid the ice sticking together.
- The ice making cycle lasts approximately 6 to 13 minutes, depending on the selection of ice cube size and the room temperature. The recommended room temperature is 10°C to 40°C.
- If the water pump cannot inject water, the ice maker will stop automatically, and the “ADD WATER” indicator will be on.
- When the “ADD WATER” indicator turns on, Press the “ON/OFF” button. Open the lid and fill the water tank to the max mark with water. Then press the “ON/OFF” button again to turn on the machine. Allow the refrigerant liquid inside the compressor at least 3 minutes to settle before restarting.
- The ice maker stops when the ice basket is full and the “ICE FULL” indicator will be on. Warning: Direct sunlight or sunlight reflection may cause infrared sensor malfunction. If the unit doesn’t stop, then move the unit where there’s no sunlight.
Change water in the reservoir every 24hours for hygiene purposes. If the unit isn’t being used, drain all the wate and dry the tank.
Automatic Cleaning
- When the machine is in standby mode, press the “CLEAN” button. You will then see 30 on the display, which means 30 minutes for cleaning. After 30 minutes the machine will be on standby mode again.
- If you want to stop the cleaning process, press the “CLEAN” or the “ON/OFF” button. During the cleaning, auxiliary tools, like neutral or food hygiene cleaners, can be used.
Timer
- Timing setting range: 1-24 hour. The default timer is 1 hour.
- Timed shutdown: the machine can be set to shut down during the ice making process.
- Timed start-up: When the machine is in standby mode, a start time can be set.
- How to set the timer.
- Press the “TIMER” on the operation panel, it will display 01H for the default timing, and the “H” will be flashing. Then adjust the timing by pressing the “L” for increasing 01H or “S” for decreasing, based on your needs.
- After 5 seconds the “H” will stop flashing and the light will turn on, this means the setting is complete. 3.4.4.3. The “xxH” in the display indicates that the machine currently has a timing function. After the countdown is at zero, the machine will enter the mode you need.
- How to cancel the timer.
- If the machine is timed (xxH on the screen), press “TIMER”, and the “H” will flash on the screen, press “TIMER” again. The timer will be cancelled. You can also press the “ON/OFF” button for timing to cancel.
Recycling
- These electrical products, cables, batteries, packaging, and the manual, should not be mixed with general household waste. For proper recycling, please take these products to your nearest Creative Housewares office where they will be accepted for recycling free of charge.
- Alternatively, please contact your local authority or household waste disposal service for further details of your nearest designated collection point. Correct product disposal saves resources and prevents negative effects on human health and the environment.
Troubleshooting table

Water temperature in inner tank is too low.| Replace the water. Temperature of
water recommended at 8-32°C.
Ice making cycle is normal but no ice formed.| Room temperature or water
temperature in inner tank is too high.| The room temperature should be
10-43°C, water temperature should be 8-32°C.
Refrigerant in cooling system leaks.| Verify by a qualified technician.
Pipe in the cooling system is blocked.| Verify by a qualified technician.
Warranty
Thank you for purchasing a Taurus product. Taurus guarantees that your product has been thoroughly inspected and tested before being dispatched and is free from mechanical and electrical defects and complies with the ap-plicable safety standards. With every Taurus product purchased you get a 2 year warranty as detailed in the terms and conditions below.
First Year – 1 Year Retail Warranty: Should defects due to faulty parts
or workmanship develop, under normal domestic use, within 12 months from the
original date of purchase please return the product to the store from where it
was purchased for a refund or replacement.
Second Year – 1 Year Extended Warranty Taurus takes pride in their
product quality and therefore offer an extended 12 month warranty over and
above the 1 Year Retail Warranty. Should defects due to faulty material or
workmanship develop, under normal domestic use, after the 12 month period and
within 24 months from the origi-nal date of purchase, please return the
product postage pre-paid to Taurus for repair. Taurus will re-pair the product
free of charge and return it to you directly. Taurus will replace a product
with a similar product in the same or better condition, if the repair cannot
be conducted for whatever reason. NB: The 1 Year Extended Warranty is only
valid for customers who have registered their warranty online at
www.taurusappliances.co.za within the
first year after making their purchase. See overleaf for details and
instructions.
Before returning your product, check the following:
- Your household mains supply socket is in good condition, working and switched on.
- The mains supply circuit is not overloaded (White trip switch on your DB board is off).
- You have read the trouble shooting guide in your Instructions for Use.
- All accessories and parts are present.
The following conditions apply:
- Please ensure you retain your receipt as this must be presented when making a claim under the terms of the guarantee. It is impossible to determine the guarantee period without proof of purchase, so please keep this in a safe place. (NB. Your guarantee can be scanned onto the Taurus web site for safe storage – see reverse side for details.)
- If a refund or exchange is required the product must be complete with all accessories, parts and packaging. Missing parts will render the guarantee void.
- Upon receipt of your appliance, check it for any trans-port damage to ensure it is safe for use. Return it to the store as soon as possible for exchange if damaged. The guarantee is void if products are damaged after use, so please do not use the damaged product.
- Your product is designed for normal domestic house-hold use. Failure to read and comply with the instruc-tions for use, cleaning and maintenance will render your guarantee void, so please read these instructions carefully to ensure your safety, and to get the most effective use from the product. (e.g. not removing lime scale; water deposits; insect infestation, and/or burnt products)
- Any abuse, negligent, improper or accidental use or care will render the guarantee void and Creative Housewares (Pty) Ltd will not be liable for any loss or damage.
- Any attempted repair, or replacement of unauthorised parts will render the guarantee void, so please contact an authorised service centre or service agent for any service or repair requirements.
- NB: The guarantee on replaced products will be from the original date of purchase and not from when the date replacement was made.
- All repairs carry a 3 month guarantee even if this falls outside of the 2 year guarantee period.
- Taurus will attempt to conduct repairs within reasonable time in line with industry standards but cannot be held responsible or liable for any circumstances not under our control.
Repairs Out of the Warranty Period
If service or repair becomes necessary outside the warranty period, this
service is still available however all transport/postage, spares and labour
costs will be for the customers’ account. All chargeable repairs will require
the customers’ written acceptance of the quote. Once the go-ahead has been
received Taurus will undertake to conduct the repair within a reasonable time
and maintain the condition of the product as received. All repairs are
guaranteed for 3 months from the date of the repair.

- From your profile you will be able to load products that you have purchased. In order to successfully register your warranty you will need to either scan and upload, or fax through your receipt to us.
- All instructions on how to load your products are available inside your profile.
