Safety Advice and Warnings
Before switching on the appliance, read the instructions carefully and keep them for future reference. Failure to follow and observe these instructions could lead to an accident. Clean all the parts of the product that will be in contact with food, as indicated in the cleaning section, before use. Do not overload the appliance’s weight capacity. Remove the batteries from the appliance if you are not going to use it for some time. This appliance is for household use only, not professional or industrial use. Store this appliance out of reach of children and/or persons with physical, sensory or reduced mental or lack of experience and knowledge.
Instructions for Use
To Install the Bowl
- Ensure that the plate is in line with the eject slider.
- Press the stainless-steel bowl down until you hear it click in place.
To Eject the Bowl
- Using your thumb, slide the eject slider backward and keep it there.
- Use your other hand to remove the stainless steel bowl from the plastic body.
To Install or Replace the Batteries
- Take out the used batteries.
- Install new batteries by putting one side of the battery and then pressing it down. Do the same for the other side’s battery.
Function Buttons
- Press ON/OFF/ZERO to turn on the scale.
- Wait until you see 0 display on the LCD.
- Load the weighing object on to start weighing, LCD will show the weight reading.
Modes
Click the ON/OFF/ZERO button to switch on the scale. Click on the MODE button to select the weighing mode. Press once for water, click twice for milk, click three times for oil, and four times for flour. The arrow will indicate what mode you are using.
Volume Mode
If you are using the CUP unit of measure, follow these steps:
- Place the stainless-steel bowl on the scale. Place the scale on a solid and flat surface.
- Press the ON/OFF/ZERO button to turn the scale on.
- Wait until the 0 displays on the LCD and press the MODE button to select your liquid mode. Either Water, Milk or Oil.
- Press the UNIT button to set to the CUP unit.
- The LCD will display the volume of the liquid in the stainless steel.

Use or working environment
- This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
- This appliance is not a toy. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
- Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are supervised.
- Do not use the appliance if it has fallen on the floor, if there are visible signs of damage or if it has a leak.
- Avoid all contact with the liquid that could be released from the battery. In case of contact with eyes, wash them thoroughly and seek medical advice. The liquid spilled from the battery may cause irritation or burns.
- Do not place the appliance on hot surfaces, such as cooking plates, gas burners, ovens or similar.
- Place the appliance on a horizontal, hard, rigid, flat, stable surface that is free from vibrations. Avoiding any contact of the weighing area with walls or other objects not to be weighed. Otherwise, it will not show the right weight.

- Do not overload the appliance’s weight capacity.

- This appliance isn’t valid for trade. Store this appliance out of reach of children and/or persons with physical, sensory or reduced mental or lack of experience and knowledge.
Service
Any misuse or failure to follow the instructions for use renders the guarantee
and the manufacturer’s liability null and void.
Instructions for use
To install the bowl
- Ensure that the plate is in line with the eject slider.
- Press the stainless-steel bowl down until you hear it click in place.
To eject the bowl
- Using your thumb, slide the eject slider backward. Keeping it there.
- Use your other hand to remove the stainless-steel bowl from the plastic body.
To install or replace the batteries (2 x 1.5V AAA batteries INCLUDED)
- Take out the used batteries.
- Install new batteries by putting one side of the battery and pressing it down. Do the same for the other side’s battery.

Knowing the LCD screen
Modes
- Click the “ON/OFF/ZERO” button to switch on the scale.
- Click on the “MODE” button to select the weighing mode. Press once for water, click twice for milk, click three times for oil and flour times for flour.
- The arrow will indicate what mode you are using.
Weighing mode
- Place the scale on a solid and flat surface.
- Place the stainless-steel bowl on the scale before turning on the scale.
- Press ON/OFF/ZERO to turn on the scale.
- Wait until you see “0” display on the LCD.
- Load the weighing object on to start weighing, LCD will show the weight reading.
Volume mode
- If you are using the CUP unit of measure, then use the below steps:
- Place the stainless-steel bowl on the scale. Place the scale on a solid and flat surface.
- Press the ON/OFF/ZERO button to turn the scale on.
- Wait until the “0” displays on the LCD and press the MODE button to select your liquid mode. Either “Water”, “Milk” or “Oil”.
- Press the UNIT button to set to the CUP unit.
- LCD will display the volume of the liquid in the stainless steel.
Unit conversion button
- Weight unit conversion:
- To switch between Metric System (kilograms/grams) and Imperial System (British weights: pounds/ounces). Press the UNIT button while in weighing mode.
- Volume unit conversion:
- Select your MODE, for example (water mode).
- Then press UNIT to switch between ml (floz) and CUP.
Using the “ZERO” or “TARE” function
- This function is used to when weighing different ingredients without removing the bowl to add a new ingredient.
- “TARE” function: (This function tells the scale that whatever is on it should be ignored. for example, the container weight.)
- The LCD will show “—-” or “0g” each time you press the ON/OFF/ZERO button. “—-” means the scale is processing, please wait for a moment.
- The scale should now show “0g” and the “T” icon will appear in the bottom left corner of the LCD, this means the TARE function is active.
- The Max. weight capacity is reduced by the total weight of the ingredients added in the stainless-steel bowl.
- “ZERO” function: (This function tells the scale there’s nothing on it.)
- The LCD display will show dashes “—-” or “0g” each time the ON/OFF/ZERO button is pressed. Please wait until “—-” is displayed, it means the scale is processing. “0g” will display when weights have been zeroed out, Maximum weight capacity remains unchanged.
Auto shut off
Auto shut-off occurs if the display shows “0” or shows the same weight reading for 30 seconds.
Manual shut off
To maximize battery life, after use. Press and hold the ON/OFF/ZERO button for 3 seconds.
Warning indicators
- This means replace with a new battery.
- This Means Scale is overloaded, remove the item.
Cleaning and care
- Clean the product with a soft, slightly damp (not wet) cloth. Remove the stainless-steel bowl and clean thoroughly. Do not place the scale in the dishwasher or submerge in water. The scale is not waterproof.
- All plastic parts should be cleaned immediately after contact with fats, spices, vinegar, and strongly flavored/colored foods.
- Always use the scale on a hard, flat surface, DO NOT use it on a carpet.
- DO NOT strike, shake, or drop the scale.
- The scale is a precise instrument. Please treat with care.
- Put the scale in a cool and dry place.
- If fail to switch on the scale, check whether the battery is installed, or the battery power is low.
- For home use only. Not suitable for commercial purposes.
Recycling
- These electrical products, cables, batteries, packaging, and the manual, should not be mixed with general household waste. For proper recycling, please take these products to your nearest Creative Housewares office where they will be accepted for recycling free of charge.
- Alternatively, please contact your local authority or household waste disposal service for further details of your nearest designated collection point. Correct product disposal saves resources and prevents negative effects on human health and the environment.
WARRANTY
Thank you for purchasing a Taurus product. Taurus guarantees that your product has been thoroughly inspected and tested before being dispatched and is free from mechanical and electrical defects and complies with the applicable safety standards. With every Taurus product purchased you get a 2 year warranty as detailed in the terms and conditions below.
First Year – 1 Year Retail Warranty
Should defects due to faulty parts or workmanship develop, under normal
domestic use, within 12 months from the original date of purchase please
return the product to the store from where it was purchased for a refund or
replacement.
Second Year – 1 Year Extended Warranty
Taurus takes pride in its product quality and therefore offers an extended
12-month warranty over and above the 1 Year Retail Warranty. Should defects
due to faulty material or workmanship develop, under normal domestic use,
after the 12-month period and within 24 months from the original date of
purchase, please return the product postage pre-paid to Taurus for repair.
Taurus will repair the product free of charge and return it to you directly.
Taurus will replace a product with a similar product in the same or better
condition if the repair cannot be conducted for whatever reason.
NB: The 1-Year Extended Warranty is only valid for customers who have
registered their warranty online at
www.taurusappliances.co.za within the
first year after making their purchase. See Overleaf for details and
instructions.
Before returning your product, check the following
Your household mains supply socket is in good condition, working, and switched
on. The mains supply circuit is not overloaded (The white trip switch on your
DB board is off). You have read the troubleshooting guide in your Instructions
for Use. All accessories and parts are present. The following conditions
apply: Please ensure you retain your receipt as this must be presented when
making a claim under the terms of the guarantee. It is impossible to determine
the guarantee period without proof of purchase, so please keep this in a safe
place. (NB. Your guarantee can be scanned onto the Taurus website for safe
storage – see reverse side for details.) If a refund or exchange is required
the product must be complete with all accessories, parts, and packaging.
Missing parts will render the guarantee void. Upon receipt of your appliance,
check it for any transport damage to ensure it is safe for use. Return it to
the store as soon as possible for exchange if damaged. The guarantee is void
if products are damaged after use, so please do not use the damaged product.
Your product is designed for normal domestic household use. Failure to read
and comply with the instructions for use, cleaning, and maintenance will
render your guarantee void, so please read these instructions carefully to
ensure your safety, and to get the most effective use from the product. (e.g.
not removing limescale; water deposits; insect infestation, and/or burnt
products) Any abuse, negligent, improper or accidental use or care will render
the guarantee void and Creative Housewares (Pty) Ltd will not be liable for
any loss or damage. Any attempted repair or replacement of unauthorized parts
will render the guarantee void, so please contact an authorized service center
or service agent for any service or repair requirements.
NB: The guarantee on replaced products will be from the original date of
purchase and not from when the date replacement was made. All repairs carry a
3-month guarantee even if this falls outside of the 2-year guarantee period.
Taurus will attempt to conduct repairs within a reasonable time in line with
industry standards but cannot be held responsible or liable for any
circumstances not under our control.
Repairs Out of the Warranty Period
If service or repair becomes necessary outside the warranty period, this
service is still available however all transport/postage, spares and labor
costs will be for the customers’ account. All chargeable repairs will require
the customers’ written acceptance of the quote. Once the go-ahead has been
received Taurus will undertake to conduct the repair within a reasonable time
and maintain the condition of the product as received. All repairs are
guaranteed for 3 months from the date of the repair. For any service,

from 08h00 to 15h00 Monday to Friday excluding public holidays. Please also
note that the company is normally closed for 2 weeks around Christmas and New
Year. Please send all products for repair postage pre-paid to one of the

make a valid claim. Now you can register your product, upload your warranty

- Click on the “Registration” link and login using your username and password.
- Click on “Register your products and upload receipts” and follow the easy instructions.
- Scan and upload your receipt.

Notes
- The online warranty system is a safe storage facility for your receipt.
- You will be required to register on the Taurus website. You will receive a username and password once registered. This will give you access to your profile.
- From your profile, you will be able to load products that you have purchased. In order to successfully register your warranty you will need to scan and upload your receipt to us.
- All instructions on how to load your products are available inside your profile.
- Please note that you must check that your receipt has been uploaded correctly. Creative Housewares cannot be held responsible for files not received.
