BLOWER OPERATION
Consumer information sheet for playground surfacing materials
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) estimates that about 100 000 playground equipment-related injuries resulting from falls to the ground surface are treated annually in US hospital emergency rooms. Injuries involving this hazard pattern tend to be among the most serious of all playground injuries, and have the potential to be fatal, particularly when the injury is to the head. The surface under and around playground equipment can be a major factor in determining the injury-causing potential of a fall. It is self-evident that a fall on to a shock-absorbing surface is less likely to cause a serious injury than a fall onto a hard surface. Playground equipment should never be placed on hard surfaces, such as concrete or asphalt, and while grass may appear to be acceptable, it may quickly turn to hard-packed earth in areas of high traffic. Shredded bark mulch, wood chips, fine sand or fine gravel are considered to be acceptable shock absorbing surfaces when installed and maintained at a sufficient depth under and around playground equipment.
Below lists the maximum height from which a child would not be expected to sustain a life-threatening head injury in a fall on to four different loose- fill surfacing materials if they are installed and maintained at depths of 150mm, 225mm and 300mm.
Fall height in millimeters from which a life-threatening head injury would not be expected
Type of material
| Depth of surfacing material
---|---
150 mm| 225 mm| 300 mm
Double-shredded bark mulch| 1800| 3000| 3300
Wood chips| 1800| 2100| 3600
Fine sand| 1500| 1500| 2700
Fine gravel| 1800| 2100| 3000
However, it should be recognized that all injuries due to falls cannot be
prevented, no matter what surfacing material is used.
It is recommended that a shock-absorbing material extend a minimum of 1800mm
in all directions from the perimeter of stationary equipment such as climbing
frames and slides. However, because children may deliberately jump from a
moving swing, the shock-absorbing material should extend in the front and rear
of a swing a minimum distance of twice the height of the pivot point measured
from a point directly beneath the pivot on the supporting structure.
This information is intended to assist in comparing the relative shock-
absorbing properties of various materials. No particular material is
recommended over another. However, each material is only effective when
properly maintained. Materials should be checked periodically and replenished
to maintain the correct depth as determined necessary for the equipment in
question. The choice of a material depends on the type and height of the
playground equipment, the availability of the material in a particular area,
and its cost.
This information has been extracted from the CPSC publications “Playground
Surfacing — Technical Information Guide” and “Handbook for Public Playground
Safety”.

SETUP INSTRUCTIONS
PLACEMENT:
Use on a flat, grassy area only. Do not use on pavement or hard surfaces.
Usage area should be free of rocks, bumps, holes, sticks, etc. The water park
setup location should have a minimum distance of 10ft (305cm) from any free-
standing structures or obstructions. This include: houses, garages, fences,
trees, playground equipment, large rocks, etc.
ASSEMBLY
NOTE:
- Place on level ground and firm grass or soil to allow proper use of stakes.
- Stakes should be placed at an angle for better anchorage, should be driven under the ground to reduce tripping and tipping hazards.
After inflation, the blower should run continuously while children are playing.
DRAINING & DEFLATION
IMPORTANT: Drain the water park of all water to prevent mold and mildew.
Product should be completely dry before storage. Do not fold and store water
park if any moisture remains.
IMPORTANT: All children must exit the water park before deflation or
draining.
- Turn off the garden hose and disconnect it from the tube.
- Turn off the blower motor and unplug it from the outlet. Move the blower to dry ground if it appears that it will get wet from draining water.
- Open the water valve and drain the water.
- Remove stakes and drag water park away from the drained water to a dry area.
- Re-stake the water park and blower, tie the inflation tube to the blower, then reconnect and power up the blower.
- Leave the water park inflated until all remaining water has evaporated and the water park is dry.
- Once water park is completely dry, turn off the blower and unplug it from the outlet.
- Remove and drain the hose assembly from the Water park. Untie the drawstring from the short outlet tube and allow the water park to fully deflate. Remove the hose assembly and wrap it up with no kinks.
MAINTENANCE OF THE WATER PARK
- Change the water of pools frequently (particularly in hot weather) or when noticeably contaminated, unclean water is harmful to the user’s health.
- Check the product for damage at the beginning of each season and at regular intervals when in use. If these checks are not carried out, the activity toy could overturn or otherwise become a hazard.
- Clean the product and remove any accumulated debris before each use. Wipe the product using a dry cloth or a cloth dampened with a neutral, non-flammable, non-toxic cleaning and sanitizing solution or pure water.
MAINTENANCE OF AIR BLOWER
THE SOURCE OF ELECTRICAL SUPPLY MUST BE DISCONNECTED PRIOR TO ANY SERVICING OR CLEANING.
- USE A DRY CLOTH TO GENTLY CLEAN ALL SURFACES.
- STORE IN A COOL, DRY PLACE AND OUT OF CHILDREN’S REACH.
STORAGE
IMPORTANT:
- Never store the water park when wet. Allow to dry before folding for storage. Follow all previous instructions each use.
- Store park in a secure place away from children to prevent suffocation hazards. Never leave either the park or the blower outside when not in use.
- Fold all pieces of the water park toward the center. NOTE: If bottom surface is still moist, allow it to air dry prior to folding.
- Roll up the water park tightly and compress the fabric to expel all of the remaining air. NOTE: Do not place the water spray tubing inside the water park when rolling it up
- Slip the carrying bag over the rolled-up inflatable park. Flip the bag and the park over, close the bag, and store the park and the blower in a dry place. To extend the life of the water spraying hose assembly, store it in an adequately ventilated area. Do not store them together with the park.
REPAIR PATCH INSTRUCTIONS
Replace defective parts in accordance with the instructions. Please keep for future reference.
-
Deflate the item, clean the area and allow to dry thoroughly.
-
Cut a portion of the patch to the size needed and round the corners. (See Fig.1&2).
-
Apply the repair patch:
Option #1: Using the vinyl patch.
Remove the adhesive backing from the patch material, position the patch over the damaged area and smooth out any bubbles.
Option #2: Using the fabric patch and the glue (not included).
Apply only the amount of glue(not included) needed to cover the repair site and press patch firmly over the puncture. -
Allow to sit for 30 minutes before re-inflating.
WARNING: Repair patched must be applied by an adult only. Keep out of children.
