As long as you install it within the outer limits of a good range of the base wifi unit, it will extend wifi from its installed location. For example; base wifi range is 25 ft. Install booster at 23ft away from base wifi to extend wifi another 25ft from booster location.

My router doesn’t have a WPS button. How can I connect iheytek extender to my router?

Plug the extender into an outlet near your router. Connect to the extender’s network(iHey-2G/5G), pop up a log-in page where you create a management password Choose the wifi network you want to extend, and input your router’s password. After you complete the configuration, unplug the extender and move it halfway between the router and the Wi-Fi dead zones and plug it in.

Do you have to use the ethernet?

No, I don’t use an Ethernet connection.

What router do I need if I’m in an apartment that supplies wifi?

If your apartment supplies Wi-Fi service, then you likely can connect your devices directly to that wireless service and would not need any router. The Athena device I bought is really one that extends a signal’s range, not a base wireless router, and is needed if your Wi-Fi signal is weak or blocked in some areas (by distance intervening walls, etc). It boosts the existing Wi-Fi signal from the router and acts as a relay between your modem/router and your devices. Interesting way to arrange the antennas?

It’s actually just a dumb form factor that’s cool for 30 seconds. It ties up the entire outlet instead of just one, and I’ve not found any advantage to the 4 antennas vs. 2 I have on another similar device. Plus, the multiple blue LED’s will light a room enough to read by. I HATE blue LEDs.
