Safety instructions

In general
Thank you for purchasing the Table grill from Nouvel.
For a safe barbecue, please read the safety instructions and operating instructions carefully be-fore using the charcoal barbecue.
Failure to follow the safety instructions and operating manual may result in serious or even fatal injury or property damage due to fire or explosion.

Safety instructions

  • The charcoal grill may only be used outdoors! Otherwise, toxic fumes may accumulate and cause serious injury or even death (carbon monoxide poisoning).
  • Therefore, never use the charcoal barbecue in a flat, garage, tent, caravan or other closed rooms.
  • Keep a safe distance from flammable materials, flammable gases and liquids (petrol, alcohol, methylated spirits).
  • Always place the charcoal barbecue on a stable, level and fireproof surface.
  • The charcoal barbecue heats up during barbecuing and, as long as it is hot, may only be moved with care and with suitable protective measures (fireproof gloves and safety goggles).
  • Do not use the charcoal barbecue in strong winds.
  • CAUTION! Never leave the charcoal barbecue unattended during use and while it is hot. Children and pets must never be left unattended near a hot charcoal barbecue.
  • Never use water to extinguish or control flames or embers. Water can cause explosive pilot flames.
  • In emergencies, use a fire blanket or fire extinguisher. Please have a fire blanket ready as a mini-mum equipment when grilling, which is available in specialized shops.
  • NOTE! Consumption of alcohol and/or prescription or non-prescription medications may impair the user’s ability to safely operate the charcoal grill.
  • This charcoal grill is not a heater and must not be used as a heater.

Operating instructions

lighting / starting the charcoal grill

  • A separate lighting chimney is particularly suitable for lighting the charcoal quickly and conveniently.
  • Alternatively, the charcoal can also be lit directly in the charcoal barbecue.
  • Depending on the quality and quantity of the charcoal, it may take longer or shorter for the char-coal to glow.
  • It is best to grill only when the charcoal is covered with a light layer of ash.
  • CAUTION! Do not use methylated spirits, petrol or lighting fluid for lighting or relighting!
  • Do not wear loose clothing or open hair that could come into contact with the flames while light-ing or using the charcoal grill.

Cleaning

  • Never dispose of charcoal or hot ash while it is still glowing. There is a risk of fire. Do not dispose of ash and charcoal residues until they have completely extinguished and the charcoal grill has cooled down.
  • The charcoal container can be wiped clean with a damp cloth.
  • A scraper and a stainless steel sponge can be used to clean the grill plate.
  • The grill plate discolors after use and thus acquires the patina usual for stainless steel.
  • During use, the grill plate may bend slightly inwards due to the heat. Do not quench the grill plate.
  • To avoid flash rust, we recommend treating the grill plate with cooking oil after cleaning. The charcoal container is made of steel and may rust. This does not represent a product defect.
