Set Up Alexa for PC
To get started, download the Alexa app from the Microsoft Store.
- If the Alexa app is not pre-loaded on your computer, download the Alexa app for Windows 10 from the Microsoft Store.
- Find the Alexa icon in the Start Menu or type “Alexa” into the Windows search bar.
- Sign into your Amazon account.
Turn Wake Word for Alexa for PC On or Off
Turn Wake Word on or off to use Alexa for PC with your voice.
- Open the Alexa for PC app .
- SelectSettings .
- Turn Wake Word on or off.
Tip: You can also use the Mute option next to Alexa Click to Talk .
Alexa for PC Doesn’t Recognize Your Microphone
Try these steps if Alexa for PC isn’t working with your microphone.
- Check that your microphone isn’t muted and that the volume is turned up.
- Make sure that your microphone is turned on.
- Check that Wake Word is turned on.
- Check that your microphone hardware isn’t damaged by trying it on another program or computer.
- Make sure that you’re using the latest version of Alexa for PC.
- Make sure that you’re using the latest version of Windows.
- Uninstall and then reinstall Alexa for PC.
Update to the Latest Alexa for PC App
Make sure that your Windows computer is updated with the latest Alexa for PC app.
To update your Alexa for PC app:
- Open the Microsoft Store app on your Windows 10 PC.
- Select More > Downloads and updates > Get updates.
- Select the Alexa for PC app.
If you’re having issues with the Microsoft Store, try these troubleshooting steps below.
- Check that Windows has the latest update: Select the Start button > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates. If there is an available update, select Install now.
- Reinstall the Alexa for PC app: In the Microsoft Store, select See more > My Library. Select the Alexa for PC app, and then select Install.
- Run the troubleshooter: Select the Start button > Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Windows Store apps > Run the troubleshooter.
