Important Safety Instructions
IMPORTANT: The POGO Automatic System is unique and different from other
meters. Before you begin testing your blood glucose, please read all
instructions in this Owner’s Manual.
Indications For Use
The POGO Automatic® Blood Glucose Monitoring System is intended to be used
for the quantitative measurement of glucose (sugar) in fresh capillary whole
blood amplest drawn from the fingertips. The POGO Automatic Blood Glucose
Monitoring System is intended to be used by a single person and should not be
shared.
The POGO Automatic® Blood Glucose Monitoring System is intended for self
testing outside the body (in vitro diagnostic use) by people with diabetes at
home as an aid to monitor the effectiveness of diabetes control. The POGO
Automatic Blood Glucose Monitoring System should not be used for the diagnosis
of or screening of diabetes or for neonatal use.
The POGO Automatic Blood Glucose Monitoring System is indicated for use in
adults and adolescents (13 and up).
POGO Automatic® Test Cartridges are for use with the POGO Automatic Meter to
quantitatively measure glucose (sugar) in fresh capillary whole blood samples
drawn from the
Important Warnings
The POGO Automatic Blood Glucose Monitoring System is for single patient use.
Do not share the meter or test supplies with anyone, including other family
members! Do not use on multiple patients!
Meter Settings
To enter set up, press and hold the M button for three seconds until the
Settings Menu appears.
You can set the date/time, adjust volume and screen brightness, configure
lancing, set Target Range, and manage Bluetooth.
Lance Settings
You can change the lance setting to fit your preference. Use the default level
or try a custom option to find what works best for you.
Level
- Lower values reduce finger pressure required to start a test and decrease vacuum during a test.
- Higher values increase finger pressure required to start a test and increases vacuum during a test.
Quick Lance
- “On” lances immediately.
- “Off” lances after a 3-second countdown.
Viewing Test Results in Memory
To enter memory mode, briefly press and release the M button. Do not hold down, as meter will go to set-up mode. Use the scroll buttons to view past results. Press and release the M again to view 7, 14, 30, and 90-day average and meal averages.
Cleaning and Disinfection
A cleaning and disinfecting process must be followed to remove any
biohazardous materials left on any part of the meter. Cleaning is part of your
normal regimen for removing dirt and debris prior to disinfection. It does not
kill germs. Disinfection is the only way to lessen your exposure to infectious
diseases through blood transmittal.
If blood is visible on any meter part or surface, you should IMMEDIATELY clean
and disinfect.

CAUTION: Clean and disinfect your POGO Automatic Meter AFTER EVERY
CARTRIDGE and when visibly dirty. Clean and disinfect the test platform DAILY.
Always wash hands with soap and water after handling the meter and test
cartridges, when removing the test platform or opening the cartridge door.
Example : Container of Germicidal Wipes
Supplies for cleaning and disinfection: Clorox® Germicidal Wipes® (universally
available at Amazon.com, OfficeDepot.com and other retailers such as Walmart).
Clorox® Germicidal Wipes®, containing 0.55% sodium hypochlorite as the active
ingredient, are safe to use on all meter parts and cartridges.
A soft lint-free cloth for meter optics.
Informational Symbols
Symbol | Description |
---|---|
When you insert a new cartridge into the meter, the meter will display the |
following symbol showing the # of days to discard date shown on the meter
display to use all tests. The meter will prevent use of the cartridge after
the discard date. Note: 15 days is example only. The meter will show the
correct discard days.
| This symbol appears if you insert a partially-used cartridge. The meter is
unable to determine the discard date. Do not use after the discard date.
Warnings
Meter temperature is out of operating temperature range. Allow meter and
cartridges to adjust to the operating temperature range before testing.
Expired Cartridge. Cartridge is past expiration date. Do not use the test
cartridge past the expiration date ( Use by:) printed on cartridge label.
Control Solution
Refer to the online POGO Automatic Owner’s Manual (available at
manual.presspogo.com) for details on when to use
control solutions. Follow instructions provided with your control solution to
perform a control solution test.

Electrical and Safety Standards
The POGO Automatic Meter complies with the applicable standards for
Electromagnetic Compatibility; however, it is not recommended that it be used
in the presence of strong electromagnetic fields.
Since your POGO Automatic Meter is an electronic device, you should follow all
local environmental regulations for disposal.
Bluetooth® Wireless Technology
Your POGO Automatic Meter uses Bluetooth low energy technology to
communicate and transfer information optionally to your smartphone. Bluetooth
wireless technology is a form of radio frequency (RF) technology that operates
in the unlicensed industrial, scientific and medical band at 2.4 to 2.485 GHz.
The RF channel utilized for communication between the meter and other devices,
such as a smartphone, is not an open channel. Your meter complies with United
States Federal Communication Commission (FCC) standards. This meter has been
tested and found to comply with the limits of a Class B digital device,
pursuant to FCC Part 15 Rules. Operation of the device is subject to the
following two conditions:
- This device may not cause harmful interference, and
- this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
Compliance with these guidelines means that under normal, daily circumstances, the device should not affect the operation of other devices. In addition, the device should operate normally in the presence of other devices. In the event there is interference from another device, the following measures are recommended:
- Increase the distance between the meter and that device.
- Turn off the interfering device.
- In addition, you can turn off Bluetooth wireless technology on the meter.
To obtain the FCC ID: When meter is sleeping (screen is black), hold the up
scroll button for 3 seconds and the Serial Number screen will appear. Press
the M-button to access Regulatory Labels. The FCC ID will be shown in the
Regulatory Labels.

Insert Batteries
Locate Buttons
To return to the date/time menu, hold the M-button for 3 seconds while the meter is off.
Load Cartridge
Remove Cartridge From Cup
Write discard date in the box provided on the cartridge label. Use cartridge
by discard date.
Press Button to Open Cartridge Door
Insert Cartridge and Close Door
The Cartridge includes 10 complete tests. The meter will spin cartridge into
place after the door is closed.
To fully understand POGO Automatic’s unique automated testing, it is
recommended that you try a practice test.
Prepare to Test
IMPORTANT: Wash hands with soap and water thoroughly and dry completely before testing. Contaminants on the skin may affect results.
Select and Massage Finger
Select a finger that bleeds well.
Directly before lancing, squeeze or rub fingertip until it’s warm and reddish.
Press Power Button to Turn on Meter
Press Power Button Again to Prepare a New Test
Wait for the cartridge to finish moving before testing. A new test with foil
opened will be at the test port. You have 5 minutes to use the test.
NOTE: Cold, callused or tough fingers may not have successful automatic
collection.
Perform Test
Press and Hold Finger Down for Lance
Hold Finger Down for Automatic Collection
Follow On-Screen Instructions Until Meter Displays “Success!”
NOTE: If the meter does not detect blood during automatic collection, you
must add blood to complete the test.
Add More Blood
(if needed)
Get a Small Blood Drop
Line-up Drop to Center of Test Port
Roll Drop into Port and Press Firmly
You will not be re-lanced during Add More Blood. You have 90 seconds to add
blood.
NOTE: If needed, repeat the Add More Blood process until you see the lift
finger picture.
Results Screen
Results are plasma calibrated. Meter will display results between 20-500
mg/ddL.
IMPORTANT: If your results do not match the way you feel, contact your
healthcare professional immediately.
