Product Information

The AB-QM DN10-32 actuator is designed for digital and analog control of valves in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. It has a control signal of BACnet MS/TP, Modbus RTU, 0-10V, 0-20mA and a power requirement of 24VAC/DC, 50/60 HZ. The actuator has a force of 90N, stroke of 7 mm, and speed of 3-24s/mm. It consumes 3.3VA during operation and 0.9W on standby. The actuator is rated IP54/40 and can operate in temperatures ranging from -10 to 55°C. The actuator comes with a DIP switch that assigns the MAC address manually, and switches for selecting between BACnet MS/TP and Modbus RTU protocols. It also has terminals for connecting a flow sensor, volume pulse output, and analog inputs and outputs.

Product Usage Instructions

Before starting assembly and commissioning, carefully read and observe the instructions in the user manual to avoid injury and damage to persons and devices. Assemble, start-up, and maintenance work should only be performed by qualified, trained, and authorized personnel. Switch off the power line before wiring the actuator. Connect the actuator via safety isolating transformer and provide galvanic separations for segments crossing buildings. Validate the firmware version before installation by downloading the latest firmware from www.novocon.com under the Support files tab.

To operate the actuator in digital control mode:

  1. Ensure that no presetting is done on the valve.
  2. Assign a MAC address manually using DIP switches 1-7, if necessary.
  3. Connect the actuator to the network using the appropriate protocol (BACnet MS/TP or Modbus RTU).
  4. Select the valve type using MSV:3 / 32802 (default AB-QM 4.0 ISO DN 15).
  5. Select the application mode using MSV:9 / 32810 (digital control, analog control, CO6 mode, inverted CO6 mode, CO6 without alarms, or inverted CO6 without alarms).
  6. Select the application (heating or cooling) using MSV:10 / 32811.
  7. Select the design flow rate using AV:30 / 32796 (for heating) or AV:31 / 32798 (for cooling).

To operate the actuator in analog control mode:

  1. Follow steps 1-5 as listed above.
  2. Activate calibration using MSV:0 / 33284 state 2 or manual calibration.
  3. Select either analog CO6 mode or analog inverted CO6 mode.

To connect a flow sensor:

  1. Turn ON DIP switch 10 to select Modbus RTU protocol.
  2. Turn ON the optional step DIP switch to enable connection of a SonoSensor 30 flow sensor.
  3. Connect the volume pulse output terminal (+) to the flow sensor signal input.
  4. Connect the ground terminal (-) to the flow sensor signal ground.
