TIME CHART FOR GRINDING COFFEE BEANS

TYPE OF GRIND LEVEL  TABLESPOON GRIND TIME
Perc/Regular     Grind 11 9 seconds
Drip Grind 11 15 seconds
Espresso Grind 6 12 to 15 seconds

For smaller batches of beans use less grind time.

Grinding Tips

  1. You’ll need no more than 30 seconds to produce any coffee grind you desire

  2. Your coffee mill needs to cool off after 60 seconds of use. This cooling-off period protects your ground coffee from becoming overheated before it’s brewed

  3. Coffee grounds left in your coffee mill can become stale and affect the flavor of freshly ground coffee. Avoid this by removing any leftover coffee grounds from the
    grinding bowl.

  4. Don’t grind the coffee too fine. Paper coffee filters can clog and cause the water and grounds to overflowing.

  5. Vary the grinding time to suit your tastes and the type of beans you grind.

Cleaning

  1. Unplug your coffee mill.
  2. DO NOT PLACE THIS COFFEE MILL IN WATER. DO NOT IMMERSE THE BLADES OR MOTOR BASE IN WATER.
  3. Remove the coffee mill cover and wash in warm sudsy water. The cover IS not dishwasher safe.
  4. Use a clean cloth or paper towel to remove any remaining grounds from the grinding bowl.
  5. Be sure to clean your coffee mill completely after each use.
  6. Do not try to oil or sharpen the blades. The blades are permanently lubricated and never need sharpening.

FAQs

How Long Do You Grind Coffee Beans?****

It usually takes less than 30 seconds to grind coffee beans in an electric grinder. However, the secret to perfectly ground coffee isn’t time but a combination of grind size and uniform grounds.

How Long Does a Coffee Grinder Last?****

The life expectancy of your coffee grinder depends on the brand, coffee beans used, roast degree, and how often you grind coffee in it. A good quality grinder that is used regularly should last you for about 5-10 years.

Should you wash the electric coffee grinder?****

If you don’t clean your grinder, the first thing you’ll notice is that rancid taste, which will get worse over time. But eventually, grinders that continue to collect oils and old grounds can clog or slow down the speed of your burrs.

How often do you clean an electric coffee grinder?****

You can clean a blade grinder weekly if you use it every day. You can clean a burr grinder once a month. If you wipe down the grinder with a cloth after every use, this will make your deep cleaning of the grinder much easier

Why do we use an electric grinder?****

The primary purpose of an angle grinder is to grind metal. It achieves this with the use of abrasive grinding discs that come in a range of materials, like aluminum, carbide, and diamond-tipped discs. Attach a grinding disc and turn on the grinder to start the disc spinning rapidly.

How do you grind coffee without electricity?****

You can use a blender or food processor if you don’t want to grind them by hand. To grind beans by hand, use a hammer, mortar and pestle, hand mincer, or rolling pin. With each of these methods, you can make the grind as fine or coarse as you want.

How many watts should a coffee grinder be?****

Most coffee grinders are advertised with a power rating listed in watts. Generally speaking, premium coffee grinders usually come in at around 300 watts. By contrast, more affordable grinders are typically closer to 150 watts. Nevertheless, it is important to remember that power isn’t the be-all and end-all.

How hot does a coffee grinder get?****

At the start of service, it can be as low as 10ºC (68ºF), while peak times can produce grind temperatures over 50ºC (122ºF). Grind temperature matters largely due to its impact on espresso shot times. As grind temperatures increase, shot times shorten, which accelerates the coffee’s extraction.

How do you maintain an electric grinder?****

Keep your equipment clean. After each use of the grinder, disconnect the power and brush or wipe off dust and sludge (if grinding wet or using a built-in misting system). Tip back the grinder, remove the tooling, and wipe off the heads. Inspect plates and shroud, and make sure screws and bolts are in place and tightened.

How do you clean an electronic coffee grinder?****

Run the cleaning tablets through the grinder until it is empty. Then run all the coffee through the grinder on the same setting. Use the barely damp side of the rag to wipe out any yellow specks from the hopper, bin, and body of your machine. Then use the dry side of the rag to dry it.
