SUNNY MEM Series Self-Contained Emergency Light

Product Information: Self-Contained Emergency Light MEM Series

The Self-Contained Emergency Light MEM Series (Model MEM209CD2) is designed to provide emergency lighting in the event of a power outage. The unit has both a motion sensor function and an automatic battery test system to ensure reliable performance. The unit can be installed on a level surface or hung on a wall, and must be installed properly and securely to prevent accidents that could cause damage to the unit or other people and property.

The emergency lighting unit should be installed indoors, out of direct sunlight and humidity. It should not be installed in an environment with temperatures higher than 40 degrees Celsius. When the unit is not in use, it should be turned off by pressing the OFF switch. The unit should be stored in temperatures under 25 degrees Celsius, and the battery should be charged every 3 months to maintain its operational life. If there is an audible warning from the battery checker, charge the unit until the warning stops. It could take between 10-15 hours to fully charge the battery.

Indication Lights

The LED on the unit indicates the following:

Display Meaning
A continuous green light The unit is turned on and operational
A green light blinks on and off The Motion Sensor Function is activated
A continuous orange light The unit is receiving a normal AC power supply
The orange light turns off The unit is not receiving an AC power supply
A continuous red light The battery is charging
The red light turns off The battery is fully charged
A continuous green light Perform a battery test while the unit is still

The red light blinks 3 times every 15 seconds| A Battery Fail indicates that the testing found that the
battery can only supply less than 90 minutes of illumination

Warning Sounds

The unit has two warning sounds:

  1. A Battery Checker audio warning will sound twice every 15 seconds to indicate that the battery’s charge has fallen below a critical level and the unit should be plugged in to recharge its battery.
  2. A Low Voltage audio warning will sound once every 15 seconds to indicate that battery’s charge is about to fall below the Low Voltage Cut-Off point.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Choose a level surface or wall to install the unit on.
  2. Install the unit properly and securely to prevent accidents that could cause damage to the unit or other people and property.
  3. Plug in the unit and press the ON switch to turn on both lamps.
  4. The LED will indicate the status of the unit (see Indication Lights above).
  5. Always press the ON switch every time after installation to turn on the unit.
  6. If there is an audible warning from the battery checker, charge the unit until the warning stops. It could take between 10-15 hours to fully charge the battery.
  7. When the unit is not in use, always turn it off by pressing the OFF switch.
  8. The unit should be stored in temperatures under 25 degrees Celsius, and the battery should be charged every 3 months to maintain its operational life.
  9. If there is a problem with the unit (see Initial Trouble Shooting above), take the appropriate action as indicated.

Note : The unit should be installed indoors, out of direct sunlight and humidity, and not in an environment with temperatures higher than 40 degrees Celsius.

Installation and Operation

  1. Model MEM209CD2 is designed to be install on level surface or hung on a wall.
  2. Install properly and securely to prevent accidents that could cause damage to the unit or other people and property.
  3. Pressing the ON switch will turn on both lamps.
  4. The LED on the unit indicates the following.
    • LED MT ON is continuously on indicates that the unit is operational
    • LED MT ON is blinking indicates that the Light Detector function is being used.
  5. Plug the unit into a 220VAC mains power socket. The lamp should illuminate for about 5 seconds before turning off. The orange AC LED should be on to indicate the unit is receiving power. The red Charge/Full LED should be off indicating that the battery is fully charged.
  6. To use the Motion Sensor function press the MT ON switch.
    • If the Motion Sensor function is being used while the unit is receiving an AC power supply, when the surrounding area’s illumination is less than 5 Lux and the unit senses motion, the lamp will turn on automatically. Once the unit no longer senses any motion, it will turn off after 15 seconds (the motion sensor has a sensing angle of 120 degrees up to a distance of 5 meters).
    • If the Motion Sensor function is not being used the unit’s lamp will turn on as soon as there is a power outage regardless of how bright the surrounding area is.
      Caution: Please always read the manual prior to installation and operation.

Important Note on Using the Unit

  1. The emergency lighting unit should be installed indoors, out of direct sunlight and humidity. It should not be installed in environment with temperatures higher than 40 degrees Celsius.
  2. Always press the “ON” switch every time after installation to turn on the unit.
  3. When the unit is not in use always turn it off by pressing the “OFF” switch.

LDR ON

| – A continuous green light

– A green light blinks on and off

| – The unit is turned on and operational

| – The unit is receiving a normal AC power supply

– The unit is not receiving an AC power supply

Charge

| – A continuous red light

– The red light turns off

– The battery is fully charged

Test

– The green light turns off

| – Perform a battery test while the unit is still receiving an AC power supply

Fail

Problem Cause What to do

– Power not getting to the unit after plugging in. The LED AC light does not turn on.| – The power socket might not have any power.

– The plug or socket is loose.

– The AC.220V fuse is blown.

| – Check the 220VAC power supply.

– Check the plug and socket.

– Contact customer service.

– Emergency light does not turn on after the power went out.| – The ON switch was not pressed

– The lamp is faulty

– The circuit’s wiring is loose.

– The DC fuse is blown

| – Press the ON switch

– Contact customer service.

– Check the unit’s circuit connections

– Contact customer service.

– Emergency light only turns on for a short time after the power went out.| – The battery is not fully charged.

– The battery is past its operational lifetime or has deteriorated

| – Plug the unit in to charge the battery for about 10 – 15 hours.

– Contact customer service to replace the battery

Terms for Warranty and Service

  1. The product will only be under warranty if the customer fills in the “warranty card” and return the “return part” to the company within 7 days of purchasing the product. If this is not done within the specified time then the warranty will be considered void.
  2. The warranty only covers the unit’s internal parts for the duration specified by the company counting from the date of purchase.
  3. Please show the warranty card every time when contacting our service department or the dealer you purchased the unit from.
  4. The warranty will be considered void in the following cases.
    • The unit has been used outside of its intended use specified in the manual.
    • The unit has been used with equipment that does not meet the specifications specified within the manual.
    • The unit has been damaged from impact, for example parts are dented, scratched missing or distorted.
    • The unit has been modified or repaired by people not officially certified by our company. The Sticker Warranty Void has been removed or torn.
    • The unit is damaged from negligence or incompetent use, for example, the battery is swollen, the batter has been overcharged, the battery has been damaged from quick charging, the battery has been short-circuited, the battery’s charged has been completely drained.
    • The unit has been stored improperly, for example, it was exposed to moisture causing rust and damage to the internal circuitry.
    • Damaged was caused by a malfunction in the AC power supply.
    • Damage from natural disaster such as fire, moisture, submersion in liquids, chemical damage or from unavoidable circumstances.
    • Damage from animals or insects.
