FAQ’s

What is Kensington SD5600T compatible with?

Kensington SD5600T 14-in-1 Thunderbolt 3 Dock USB-C – Compatible with Thunderbolt 4, Mac and Windows, 96W Charging, Dual 4K@60Hz, 40Gbps Transfer Speeds, HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort, Ethernet (K34009US)

What is the benefit of a Thunderbolt dock?

Thunderbolt™ ports provide high bandwidth for connecting high-speed devices. Thunderbolt™ cables help to ensure a quality connection between the device and a PC. Thunderbolt™ accessories make it easy to expand the capabilities of your PC with docking options and external devices.

How does a Thunderbolt 3 dock work?

A Thunderbolt 3 dock is an extension to your laptop through a single cable and can support multiple peripherals all at the same time, to deliver high-speed data transfers for video, audio, and storage devices.

What USB C hub do I need?

If your laptop or tablet has a USB-C port and uses it exclusively for charging, you’ll want to buy a USB-C hub with a dedicated charging input port. (In this case, it’s also possible that only the charging port on the hub will work, though this isn’t typical.)

Does Thunderbolt dock need power?

The downstream Thunderbolt port, plus all the Thunderbolt circuits, requires about 30W of power.

Why do you need a docking station for dual monitors?

Typically, there will be at least one connection available from the laptop for another display such as HDMI or VGA. You can connect your first external monitor to this connection to get a second display. For a third display, you will typically need a docking station to add more ports to the laptop.

Can you use 2 docking stations at the same time?

Yes, you can definitely have two USB docking stations attached to a single PC and all the devices will work, giving you 3 independent active monitors … but there is a better/cheaper way.

Does a docking station need to be connected to power?

You can still use the dock even without the power adapter. Connecting an external power adapter (up to 100W) via the PD port will allow for laptop charging when using this dock.

Can a docking station use WIFI?

A docking station that connects to a laptop without a cable. Instead of plugging a laptop into a docking station via USB or a proprietary connector, the laptop transmits via Wi-Fi or WiGig to a dock that is cabled to monitors, printers, and external storage drives.

Are docking stations Bluetooth?

Docking stations do not have an integrated Bluetooth receiver. If a USB dongle was provided with the wireless keyboard and mouse, connect the USB dongle to the docking station.

Can I leave the docking station plugged in all the time?

There’s no danger of overcharging a battery if you leave it plugged in all the time, even 24/7. As soon as it hits 100 percent, it will cease charging and won’t start again until the voltage falls below a certain level. Fully discharging a battery will damage it.

What are the dimensions of the unit (not packaging)?

The SD5600T Thunderbolt 3 dock dimensions are 7.76″ (width) x 4.09″ (depth) x 1.45″ (height).

Can I use this dock with a 2017 macbook pro to connect 2 external monitors in extended mode?

Yes the SD5600T Thunderbolt 3 dock could work with the 2017 MacBook Pro and supports dual display in extended mode.

Will this connect to 4 monitors at the same time, will it work with an HP Spectre?

This docking station will be compatible with HP Spectre 360 which supports up to dual 4k@60hz.

Does the computer have to be open for it to display?

No, the computer does not have to be open for it to work through our docking stations. Just make sure your computer’s settings allow it to be closed without going to sleep.
