FAQ’s
Could using this to power a laptop having lower power requirements damage the laptop?
This dock supplies 90 watts over USB-C/Thunderbolt. For Dell machines, it’ll be 65. Both are healthy and fairly standard. That’s more than most monitors with built-in docking stations and should be fine. You won’t damage your laptop.
What are the dimensions of the unit (not packaging) please?
The SD5600T Thunderbolt 3 dock dimensions are 7.76″ (width) x 4.09″ (depth) x 1.45″ (height).
Can I use this dock with a 2017 macbook pro to connect 2 external monitors in extended mode?
yes the SD5600T Thunderbolt 3 dock could work with the 2017 MacBook Pro and supports dual display in extended mode.
will this connect to 4 monitors at the same time, will it work with an HP Spectre 360 14
this docking station will be compatible with HP Spectre 360 which supports up to dual 4k@60hz.
Does the computer have to be open for it to display?
no, the computer does not have to be open for it to work through our docking stations. Just make sure your computer’s settings allow it to be closed without going to sleep.
Will this be compatible with the following products/setup or is there a better-suited option? Laptops: 2019 MacBook Pro 13” and Dell Latitude 5590
Our SD5500t was built for companies with mixed-use environments — some laptops with USB-c, some with thunderbolt 3 — so companies can standardize on one docking solution. Your MacBook has Thunderbolt 3 and your Dell Latitude 5590 has a USB-C port (DisplayPort over USB-c) — so this is perfectly suited for your situation. The only thing we can’t see is if your Dell can be powered through its USB-c port (Power Delivery).
I need to connect two computers, one a 2020 13″ macbook pro, and the other a dell latitude e7470 to an LG dual 4k monitor setup with HDMI and DP inputs.
The SD5600T Thunderbolt 3 dock utilizes one upstream port which allows connecting with one laptop at one time. The 2020 13″ MacBook Pro could work with the SD5600T dock with dual 4k display via DP ports, and the Dell Latitude e7470 doesn’t support Thunderbolt 3 which we will recommend our DisplayLink dock SD4750P (K39105NA) that supports dual display via DP or HDMI ports while a DisplayLink driver installation is required.
Will this work with a USB-c Chromebook (specifically the Lenovo c630)?
yes this SD5600T is compatible with Lenovo Yoga C630 and supports USB-C Alt- mode.
Is this HDCP compliant/compatible?
Our SD5600T Thunderbolt 3 docking station is HDCP compatible.
Does the headphone jack have jack detection? In other words, does the audio switch back to speakers when the headphones are unplugged?
Yes, the Docking Station supports jack detection and will be able to switch back to the speaker when headphones are unplugged.
Does t his docking work with hp elitebook 840 g6?
Yes this SD5600T Thunderbolt 3 docking station is compatible with HP Elitebook 840 g6.
If my monitor does not have a DisplayPort, can I use a DisplayPort to HDMI cable to connect to an HDMI input monitor?
Yes, but please make sure to use active DP to HDMI cables.
Can this be used for surface laptop 4?
yes, this SD5600TDocking Station will be compatible with Surface Laptop 4 via the USB-C connection which supports a single 4K or dual full HD for the USB-C laptop.
Having trouble getting this dock to work with Dell Latitude 5530 model laptops. Has anyone else encountered this issue and determined the cause?
The SD5600T docking station supports USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 laptop, it should work with Dell Latitude 5530 which utilize the USB-C port with DisplayPort and power delivery/Thunderbolt 4 port.
Does this come with the 20v power wall adapter? (I see there is a plug for one in the back of the unit)
Yes this SD5600T Thunderbolt 3 Dock comes with a 20V DC output & 100-240v input power wall adapter.
