STEPHILL GENERATORS SG-344 Honda Petrol Generator

Stephill Generators Ltd strongly advise reading the Honda Owners Manual that came with the generator. This contains important safety, servicing and inspection information with regards to the engine.

Before Operation Checks

Check Oil Level

  1. Ensure the engine is stopped and is on level ground

  2. Remove the oil filler cap/dipstick from the engine and wipe clean.

  3. Insert the oil filler cap/dipstick into the oil filler hole as shown, but do not screw it in, then remove it to check the oil level.

  4. If the oil level is near or below the lower limit mark on the dipstick, fill with the recommended oil. Do not over fill.

  5. At the correct full level the oil will sit on the edge of the threads on the engine oil filler neck.

Note : Step hill petrol generators are usually despatched with NO oil in the engine.

Check Fuel level

Ensure the fuel tank has sufficient fuel level in the fuel tank.
Note : If the generator has been stored for an extended period ,check that the fuel hasn’t’ oxidized and deteriorated – Refer to Honda Owners Manual for cleaning

The generator is now ready to except load.

Stopping the Generator

Features

All Honda GX engines employed by Stephill Generators Ltd have an “OIL ALERT” system. The OIL ALERT system is designed to prevent engine damage caused by an insufficient amount of oil in the crankcase. Before the oil can fall below a safe limit, the OIL ALERT system will automatically stop the engine (the engine switch will remain in the ON position).
If the engine will not start or stops and will not restart, check the oil and fuel level (see page 1 above) before trouble shooting in other areas.
