Thank you for purchasing the Fender FT-1 multi-function clip-on tuner. This product features an easy-to-read LCD screen with a central needle to indicate tuning accuracy. When a note is in tune, the needle will move to the center of the screen and the backlight will turn green, giving you a quick and easy visual indication that you’re in in tune. The dual hinge allows the tuner to be properly oriented, whether it’s mounted on the front or back of the headstock. The FT-1 is powered by a 3V button battery (CR2032).

SAFETY NOTICE
  1. Overall
    • Never use alcohol, gasoline or any other strong cleaning chemicals to clean the exterior of the tuner or the LCD screen.
    • Do not crush or strike the exterior as it may cause the unit to work improperly or malfunction.
  2. Battery use
    • Confirm that the polarity is correct when inserting a new battery. Proper polarity is indicated by a negative symbol(-) marked on the battery tray.
    • Remove the battery from the unit when not in use for extended periods of time.
    • If the unit is not working properly, remove the battery and re-insert it after 10 seconds.
    • If the LCD screen is hard to read or weakly lit, replace the battery with a new CR2032 battery.
    • Dispose of the old battery properly.

DETAILED USER INSTRUCTIONS

In order to use the FT-1, remove the battery cover and insert the battery after confirming the correct polarity, as indicated on the battery tray. Replace the battery cover, then press and hold the power button on the front of the unit until the LCD screen is lit. Upon powering up for the first time, the unit will be set to its default Chromatic tuning mode with A4=440 Hz reference pitch.

The single button found on the front of the unit functional as its power on/off button as well as to change between its different tuning modes.

  • Turn Power On/Off
    • Power On:
    • Press and hold the Power Button until the LCD screen is Iii and it will automatically begin tuning functions. The note accuracy indication needle will remain on the left of the screen until a note is played.
    • Power Off:
    • Press and hold the power button until the backlight of the LCD screen turns off to enter standby mode. If no operation or signal is detected after three minutes, the unit will completely power off.
  • Change Modes:
    • Clicking the power button while the unit is powered on or in standby mode will change between its five different turning modes:
    1. Chromatic
    2. Guitar
    3. Bass
    4. Violin
    5. Ukulele
    • After choosing the tuning mode, the unit can be easily adjusted so the screen is visible from different angles.
    • When the tuner detects a note, the LCD screen will automatically show the corresponding note name and the needle will indicate how in tune the note is by+/- 50 cents.
    • Based on the location of the note accuracy indication needle, adjust the pitch of the note up or down until the needle reaches the center of the display and the backlight changes to green, which indicates the note is in tune.

REPLACING THE BATTERY

When opening the battery cover and inserting a CR2032 battery into this unit, please pay attention to the proper polarity of the battery (indicated by a(-) symbol on the battery tray) to ensure proper functionality. If the unit is unresponsive or will not power on, remove the battery and double-check its polarity, then re-insert the battery and power on as normal.

Keep new and used batteries away from children. If the battery compartment does not close securely, is top using the product and keep it away from children.

Do not alter the AC plug of the connected power adapter.
Do not drip or splash liquids or place liquid filled containers on the unit.
