SIEMENS Desigo Fire Safety Modular
What You Need to Know
Desigo Fire Safety Modular will feature all of the XLS capabilities plus our
latest innovations in the market.
The evolution of FireFinder XLS to Desigo Fire Safety Modular is part of BT’s
strategy to offer a complete dedicated portfolio for Siemens branches in UL
markets. The new modular system will boast all of the XLS features and
capabilities plus new advances which will be offered on the Desigo Fire Safety
Modular.
The Desigo brand highlights the strong and innovative products from Building
Technologies with Desigo CC, Desigo TRA, and Desigo Automation. Since the
introduction in 2012, the Desigo Fire Safety mid-market fire panels and
detection portfolio has been a key development of the BT global strategy to
offer a comprehensive Siemens branch portfolio united under one Desigo brand.
By extending our Desigo product brand to encompass a full line of fire panels,
detection, and management stations, branches can offer a consistent brand of
systems for small-to-large or simple-to-complex applications.
Current FireFinder XLS Customers
FireFinder XLS Systems and products will still be supported and migration to
the new Desigo Fire Safety Modular will be simple.
The new Desigo Fire Safety Modular system will be programmed, operated and
configured in the exact same manner as the FireFinder XLS. It will include all
existing features and capabilities, including seamless migration for MXL. The
new modular system will add many new innovative capabilities and features
available for the Desigo fire portfolio such as a new generation of I/O
modules with built in isolation and a new addressable notification appliance
booster (PAD-5).
There will be no need to upgrade systems or replace specific hardware or
devices unless your customers want to take advantage of the new Desigo Fire
Safety Modular features. The modular system will be fully backward compatible
with MP12 of XLS which was released in November 2016. The modular network will
communicate with existing networks. If you have existing customers who have
not yet migrated their MXL to an XLS, MXL will migrate to Desigo Fire Safety
Modular
Innovation Roadmap for Desigo Fire Safety Modular
As part of our global strategy we are also committed to innovation and
continuous expansion of the Desigo portfolio.
Much of the actual equipment and operation of FireFinder XLS will remain the
same and the rest will be enhanced. In the same way new market packages for
FireFInder XLS were rolled out in the past, the new Desigo Fire Safety Modular
will evolve. Existing customers, projects in progress, and future projects
being designed will all be supported.
Questions about the new Desigo Fire Safety Modular

Does this mean FireFinder XLS is going away?
The FireFinder XLS system is not being phased out, it is evolving to the new Desigo Fire Safety Modular. Some of the components of the FireFinder XLS system will be phased out and replaced with enhanced, but comparable, parts through the new modular system. We will continue to offer support for the FireFinder XLS, just like when we transitioned from MXL to FireFinder XLS. -
Why is the term XLS not included in the new name?
This decision is part of our strategy to unite the products in each channel under each brand to create consistency for all channel customers and projects. This consistency will be important in the future as Desigo Fire Safety Modular and all Desigo Fire Safety panels will grow closer together. -
Will Desigo Fire Safety Modular communicate with Desigo Fire Safety panels (FC/FV2025, FC/FV2050) on the same network?
Initially, Desigo Fire Safety Modular will still communicate in the same way that FireFinder XLS communicates now. However, over time, the plan is that all networkable Desigo Fire Safety panels and the Desigo CC will sit on the same network and communicate fully. -
What protection of investment can Siemens offer on XLS related products?
Converting a FireFinder XLS system to a Desigo Fire Safety Modular system is the same process as upgrading an older FireFinder XLS to a newer version. All the training and knowledge of the XLS system is the same as Desigo Fire Safety Modular. If you are certified on FireFinder XLS, there will be no need to be recertified for Desigo Fire Safety Modular. There is no change to existing warranties and spare part availability will be consistent with legacy FireFinder XLS products. -
When can a Branch Office begin bidding Desigo Fire Safety Modular?
When are data sheets available? You can begin bidding Desigo Fire Safety Modular in late summer/ early fall when the product and data sheets become available. SpecWriter, data sheets and other tools will be available upon that release. -
What happens if I bid a job with FireFinder XLS before Desigo Fire Safety Modular is released but is installed after Desigo Fire Safety Modular is introduced?
FireFinder XLS equipment will still be available after Desigo Fire Safety Modular is introduced. Customers can also update their order to change the FireFinder XLS equipment to Desigo Fire Safety Modular which supports the system enhancements that will be offered exclusively on the Desigo Fire Safety Modular. The cost structure of the new system and products will be comparable to the FireFinder XLS system. -
Is it possible to transfer service between partners or branches?
Through our Siemens Customer Choice program, customers are able to switch service provider, system, or purchasing end user licensing as needed to meet their needs. A system transfer process would need to take place between the partners and branches or vice versa.
