SIEMENS PS-35 Power Supply Module

Operation

The Model PS-35 stepdown transformer and bridge from Siemens Industry, Inc. provides a rectified, full wave 24 VDC output from an input supply of 120 VAC, 50/60 Hz. The input power consists of a main phase, with an independent circuit breaker labeled Reset, and a trouble phase, which is separately fused. Both inputs use a common neutral. The 24 volt full wave output is rated at 9 amperes DC, full load, and 6 amperes DC, standby load. Separate output fuses are provided for both the main and auxiliary power outputs, fused at 15 amps and 2 amps, respectively.

Terminals 5 and 6 provide 1.5A auxiliary output when the PS-35 is used as a CP-35 system supply. For example, output is rated 24 VDC, 1.5A max for internal applications such as SR-32, SR-33, or Model RA annunciator located within control unit enclosure(s). When used as a separate 24 VDC power supply with battery backup and jumper plug JP-PS, terminals 5 and 6 may provide the full 9A loading. Typical wiring when used with the TC-30U is shown in the illustration on the back of this sheet. Surge protection is provided across both the input phases as well as the DC output.

Installation

When Used as Power Supply for Control Panel CP-35:

  1. Mount the module to the horizontal mounting brackets in upper right-hand position, on the top row of the control enclosure.
  2. Install wiring as necessary. Use special plug and harness assembly for connection to CP-35 Control Panel. Refer to CP-35 Wiring Diagram (315- 084902) in the Control Panel INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS for system interconnections.
  3. Install protection cover plate over the terminals after making wiring connections.

When Used as 24 VDC Power Supply with Battery Backup

(See TYPICAL WIRING DIAGRAM illustration on reverse.)

  1. Mount the module to the horizontal mounting brackets in the control enclosure. Select a convenient location so that wiring runs are as short as possible. Note that the PS-35 occupies three module positions.
  2. Connect wiring as necessary.
    • Note: When an additional PS-35 Power Supply with jumper plug JP-PS is used for extra bell ringing capability in a CP-35 controlled system with emergency power, a transfer module Model TC-30U is required to supply emergency power to the audible signal circuit. When battery backup is not provided, the PS-35 output should be supervised (SR-30 or equal).
  3. Install protection cover plate over the terminals after making wiring connections.

Fuse Replacement

  • Remove all system power before replacing fuses, first battery and then AC. To power up, connect AC first then battery.

PS-35

For fuses F2 and F3, slide fuse off fuse holders, then snap in new fuses.

  • F2: P/N 105-224090, 15A @ 250V max
  • F3: P/N 105-284845, 2A @ 125V max

TC-30U

  • Push in and turn counterclockwise. Remove fuse from cap.
  • Replace with P/N 105-224090, 15A @ 250V max.

Notes

  1. Refer to the BI-35 Installation Instructions, P/N 315-086257, for detailed wiring information when using the PS-35 in conjunction with the BI-35 module.
  2. Refer to P/N 315-093680 for all power-limited connections.
  3. Refer to P/N 315-050769 for all battery information and battery charger information.
  4. For the PS-35, TB1 positions 1, 2, 4-6 are non-power limited terminals. If power-limited wiring is desired for terminals 5 and 6, use the PLM-35, P/N 315-093495. For the TC-30U, all terminals are non-power-limited. For power-limited wiring on terminals 5 and 6, use the PLM-35, P/N 315-093495.
