CP Series 1000 Watt Compact 8″ Powered Loudspeaker
Read these instructions carefully before setting up your device. Keep this
document for future reference.
Cleaning the LCD Screen
Before cleaning the LCD screen, power off and unplug the device. Use a dry,
clean microfiber cloth to gently wipe the cloth across the screen. Optionally,
follow the directions of a cleaning liquid specifically for use on screens.
Warning: Do not use a paper towel or press down hard on the screen.
Cleaning the Compact 8 Body
Unplug the device before cleaning the body. Use a lightly dampened, soft,
clean cloth with water or mild detergent.

Regular Maintenance and Service
This device does not need regular service or maintenance during its expected
service life. These tips, however, will help keep your product in good
condition:
- To keep your device clean and dry, transport it in its protective pouch.
- Before storing the device for a long time, the battery charge should be 60% to 80%.
- Inspect the device regularly and keep the battery charged at least 20%. It does not harm the device to leave it charging.
- In case of defects or a decrease in performance, contact your local dealer or point of sale.
Warnings and Precautions
Do not remove any parts or disassemble your unit as it will void the warranty.
For product support, contact an authorized service organization in your area.
Note these warnings and precautions:0
- To avoid the risk of electric shock, devices powered using a grounded power connector must be connected to an electrical supply with a protective earth-ground connection.
- Do not stare into LED lamps in operation as temporary discomfort and eye injury can result.
- Critical diagnostic, medical or legal decisions should not be based on images displayed by this device.
- Use only the original 5.1 V 2.4 A charger and cables provided with the device. Do not force the power connector into the power port of the device.
- Do not spray any cleaning solutions directly on the LCD screen.
- Do not use solvents, abrasives, aerosols, or any cleaner that contains acetone, ethyl alcohol, ethyl acid, ammonia, or methyl chloride.
- Do not expose the device to excessive heat, direct sunlight, or extreme or rapid changes in temperature or humidity.
- To avoid the risk of electrical damage, keep your device away from fluids and chemicals.
- Handle the device with care. Rough handling will damage the internal components.
- Do not use the device near inadequately shielded medical devices. Do not open a Miracast connection near devices like pacemakers or defibrillators.
- Do not touch or look directly at the illumination lights.
- Be careful that your fingers and clothing do not get stuck in moving parts (for example, the stand).
- Common side effects of using an electronic display device for prolonged periods are eye fatigue and headaches.
- Do not place the device on an unstable surface. It may fall, causing serious damage to the unit, or injury to the user.
- To prevent condensation, do not use the device for one hour after transporting it from extreme cold to room temperature.
- While charging the device, even while powered off, the ambient temperature must be between 0°C and 35°C or 32°F and 95°F.
- Do not position the alternating-current (AC) power supply such that is difficult to access and disconnect.
- Portions of the back housing may exceed 43°C, which may provide discomfort during continuous contact. If this occurs, adjust hand position to a cooler region.
- No modification of this equipment is allowed.
This product contains chemicals that are known to the State of California to
cause cancer and birth defects or reproductive harm. For more information go

Precautions for Battery Pack
Do not charge if your device appears damaged, deformed, or defective.
Contact your Optelec distributor or the nearest Optelec office for further
instructions before use.
BATTERY MUST BE REPLACED BY CERTIFIED SERVICE PERSONNEL.
RISK OF EXPLOSION IF BATTERY IS REPLACED BY AN INCORRECT TYPE.
DISPOSE OF USED BATTERIES ACCORDING TO LOCAL REGULATIONS.
Residual Risks
Risks relating to the use of the device have been carefully evaluated and
reduced to the lowest possible level. Residual risks have been found
acceptable and the benefits of using the device outweigh these residual risks.

Clinical Benefit
Magnifiers empower the user, helping to instill independence, increase
productivity, and improve self-esteem. In short, those who struggle with daily
tasks due to low vision find their quality of life enhanced by utilizing
magnifiers.
Intended Purpose
This device is intended to be used as a vision enhancement product by people
who require vision assistance when reading printed materials or viewing
objects encountered during everyday use. The device is not intended to be
relied upon exclusively for the interpretation of sensitive or professional
material, such as medical or legal documents. The device is suitable for
continuous use. This device has no patient-applied parts.
Intended Use Environment
This device is intended for use in a home or office environment for the
purpose of providing enlarged and enhanced images to the user. This device is
not suitable for use in an oxygen-rich environment.
Intended User
This device is intended for anyone with a vision impairment or anyone wanting
to view enlarged text or images.
Intended Accessories
The USB-C port is intended to be used with personal computers for data
communications and charging. A USB-C storage device is supported. A USB-C to
HDMI cable is supported for data communication. The 3.5 mm audio jack has no
user-intended function.
The use of accessories other than those listed here is not allowed.
Performance Characteristics
Magnification and enhancement of images.
Expected Service Life
This device does not create any unacceptable hazardous conditions (as defined
by IEC 60601-1 Medical Electrical Equipment—General Requirements for Basic
Safety and Essential Performance) and will be safe to use for 10 years or
longer. Expected service life does not represent the actual operating life or
warranty period of the device but rather is a statement about expected period
of safe operation of the device.
Reasonably Foreseeable Misuse
Foreseeable misuse includes:
- Improperly servicing device.
- Using the device to read medical or legal documents.
- Inadequately understanding the performance characteristics of the device, such as expecting more magnification than is available.
- Improperly using buttons.
- Staring at the operating illumination LEDs.
- Reading text incorrectly using an outside program application.
- Lack of end-of-life determination.
- Operating the device in an unsuitable environment.
- Device distorting images.
- Misprints or typographical errors in Instructions for Use.
- Prolonged use of the electronic screen and overexposure to blue light.
- Dropping the device, operating it forcefully, or using the wrong accessories.
Layperson Information
For use by laypersons. Optelec is not responsible for any uses of this device
other than those described in this manual.

WEEE Notice

entered into force as European law on February 13, 2003, resulted in a major

waste disposal service, shop where you purchased the equipment, or
manufacturer of the equipment.
Warranty Conditions
Optelec warrants the Compact 8, effective from the date of delivery, to be
free of any defects in material and workmanship. The warranty is not
transferable and does not apply to groups or multi-users. The Compact 8 was
designed for the individual purchaser to be used at home, school, and work.
Optelec reserves the right to repair or replace any purchased Compact 8 with a
similar or improved product.
In no event shall Optelec or its suppliers be held liable for any indirect or
consequential damages. The original user’s remedies are limited to replacement
of Compact 8 components. This warranty is valid only when serviced in the
country of original purchase, and with intact seals. For additional warranty
claims or service during or after warranty period, contact your Optelec
distributor. Use of the Compact 8 other than described in this manual will
exclude it from warranty conditions. Any changes or modifications not
expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the
user’s authority to operate the equipment. Contact your local dealer for
details about the duration of this warranty.

We declare under our sole responsibility that this product, to which this
declaration relates, is in conformity with the council EMC directive
2014/30/EU and the RED directive 2014/53/EU. This device bears the CE and FCC
approval mark.

This product complies with Directive 2011/65/EU of the European Parliament and
of the Council of 3 January 2013, on the restriction of the use of certain
hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (RoHS-II) and its

Susceptibility to Interference
There may be temporary degradation of the image when Compact 8 is subjected to
a strong radio frequency field, electrostatic discharge, or transient
electrical noise. An electrostatic discharge (caused by static electricity)
may cause the screen to go blank. If this happens, follow these steps:
- Disconnect the DC adapter power supply from the electrical outlet.
- Turn off the device.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- Connect the DC adapter power supply again and turn on the device.
External Influences
Electronic devices can be sensitive to electric discharge and electromagnetic
fields caused by other electronic equipment. The device should be operated at
a minimum distance of one meter away from other electronic or
telecommunication devices. All external influences tested for as required by
60601 standards.
