Introduction
One 6.5″ subwoofer and four 2.75″ satellite transducers are housed in a single enclosure with the QSC AD-P. HALO, a specially designed, integrated SUB/SAT pendant loudspeaker system that is ready to install right out of the box. designed for commercial music installations where the music sets the mood.
The Acoustic Design Series range of loudspeakers includes the AD-P.HALO, which offers svelte attractive design with excellent sound in a variety of form factors (ceiling mount, pendant-mount and surface-mount).
The two quick-link cable assemblies and slip-lock fasteners would be appreciated by installers as they will expedite the installation process. A locking 4-pole Euro-block connection that can accept four 18AWG pairs and is concealed beneath a sealable input cover to avoid moisture at the terminals removes the difficulty of terminating star topology wiring systems.
The AD-P.HALO enhances musicality and outstanding performance in high-end retail and hospitality settings where sound creates the mood. The AD-P.HALO can perform significantly better than standard two-way pendant-mount loudspeakers for background music thanks to the 200 W RMS power rating’s large dynamic headroom.

Install the AD-P.HALO Loudspeaker
What’s in the AD-P.HALO Box
Suspend the Loudspeaker
WARNING!: Do not attach the snap hook to the loudspeaker or any other load until the hanger cable has been anchored to a suitable structural member.
-
Insert the wire cable into the appropriate hole in the slip-lock fastener (see Figure 1). The fastener’s two holes are directional, so cable will only insert one way; if it will not go through, the cable is inserted into the wrong hole.
-
Loop the cable over the structural member where the loudspeaker is to hang. The structure must be capable of supporting at least 5× the weight of the loudspeaker—AD-P.HALO: 22.5 lb. or 10.5 kg.
NOTE: Building codes in some jurisdictions may require higher safety factors.
Note that the loudspeaker uses two hanger cables. -
Insert the cable through the other hole in the fastener.
-
Adjust the length of the cable hang so the snap hook is at the desired height. To shorten the hang, simply pull the cable further through one or both holes in the fastener (Figure 2). To lengthen the hang or to remove the cable from the structural member, insert the release key into the appropriate release key hole; this will unlock that hole in the fastener and allow the cable to move in the other direction (Figure 3).
WARNING!: Never insert the release key while there is a load on the hanger cable. -
Repeat for the other hanger cables.
-
Attach both snap hooks to the suspension tab on the loudspeaker (Figure 4). Make sure the safety latch on the hook closes fully with the loudspeaker attached before you transfer the weight of the loudspeaker to the cables.
WARNING!: Install the system in accordance with local building codes and regulations. Some jurisdictions may require additional suspension points.
Use a licensed contractor or professional engineer. QSC is not responsible for damages that result from negligent installation of any bracket, hanger, or loudspeaker.
Wire the Loudspeaker
We recommend using insulated twisted pair stranded copper wire of an adequate gauge to minimize resistive losses. To facilitate connection as well as daisy- chaining to another loudspeaker, the AD-P.HALO loudspeaker has a four-pole connector (Figure 5) with two parallel pairs of terminals; one is for connecting to the line from the amplifier and the other is for connecting to another loudspeaker. Each AD-P.HALO loudspeaker comes with a Euro-style four- pole pluggable connector with clamping screws for securing to the wire conductors.
- The transformer tap selector switch is in the recess under the larger cover (Cover 2). Set the tap switch to the desired power (in watts) or to LOW Z for low-impedance operation as a 6-ohm loudspeaker (Figure 6). Reattach the cover. This setting can always be readjusted in the future as needed.
- Remove the smaller cover (Cover 1) over the input/through connector.
- The smaller cover has a gland (protective cable pass-through). Route the wires through the gland.
- Strip the wire ends about 6 mm or about 1/4 inch.
- Connect the pairs of wires to the + and – terminals of the Euro-style connector as shown in Figure 7. Tighten the clamping screws to hold the wires securely. To daisy-chain forward to another loudspeaker, route a second wire pair through the gland and attach them to the THRU terminals of the input Euro-style connector. Be mindful of polarity when connecting multiple loudspeakers; always connect + to + and – to –.
- Plug the connectors into their respective locations and tighten their retaining screws. Reinstall the protective covers and tighten the gland nut to secure the wires.
- To strain-relieve the wires, secure them to a hanger cable using the tie-wraps provided.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is a satellite speaker system?****
A particular style of home theatre speaker called a satellite speaker is intended to be positioned in a room’s corner and pointed upward. It is a standalone device with built-in speakers and an amplifier. Because of its shape, it can fit in small locations and still provide high-quality music.
Are satellite speakers good?****
Satellite speakers are an alternative to think about whether you’re looking for a low-cost or high-quality choice. Satellite speakers are excellent at reproducing mid- and high-frequency sounds, and they also generate a clean, detailed sound. One advantage of satellite speakers is their compact size.
What is difference between satellite speakers and normal speakers?****
By focusing on higher frequencies, satellite speakers enable the overall system to achieve lower sound distortion. More frequencies can be handled by bookshelf speakers. These speakers are full range and come in enclosures with both high- and low-frequency drivers.
Are satellite speakers powered?****
The subwoofer has a wire that connects to each of the satellites. The subwoofer supplies power to the satellites and transmits the audio signal to them.
Do satellite speakers need power?****
Yes, the majority of wireless speakers plug into standard power outlets or power strips using AC adaptors. To become “truly wireless,” some systems employ rechargeable batteries, although this feature necessitates repositioning and charging as routine tasks in order to use this type of surround sound system.
What is the best height for satellite speakers?****
Prior to the emergence of immersive audio technologies, surround sound height positioning was standardized for years. Place the surround speakers about two feet above sitting ear height, which is typically 6 feet, when installing immersive audio speakers.
Do satellite speakers need a subwoofer?****
Although they can be used independently and offer a superb listening experience, powered subwoofers are necessary for satellite speakers to perform at their highest level. Satellite speakers can now highlight the mid- and high-range frequencies because they are considerably more capable of handling them thanks to the extra bass muscle.
How far away should satellite speakers be?****
For the greatest stereo imaging, the left and right front channels’ speaker placement should be at least 6-8 feet apart and create an equidistant triangle with the listener’s primary position.
Where should I place my satellite speakers?****
The front speakers in the room should be slightly lower than the surround speakers. Ideally, when seated, 1 to 2 feet above head height.
What are the 4 types of speakers?****
Traditional loudspeakers, in-wall/ceiling speakers, soundbars, and subwoofers are the four basic speaker kinds now available in homes.
Can I use satellite speakers for Atmos?****
Yes, as long as you can mount the speaker properly, you can use any speaker you like. Other than the fact that they are placed over your head, overhead/height speakers for Atmos have no particular features.
How do I connect my satellite speakers to my TV?****
Connect the HDMI IN (ARC or eARC) port on the TV to the HDMI OUT (ARC or eARC) port on the audio device using the HDMI cable. Connect the Optical Digital OUT port on the TV and the Optical Digital IN port on the audio device using the optical digital audio cable. Switch on the TV. Set the audio system as the speakers.
How do wireless satellite speakers work?****
Since wireless surround sound speakers operate by radio waves, they don’t require as many wires to be connected to the main unit. The necessity to connect numerous wires from the surround amplifier to each satellite speaker is thus eliminated.
