Installation & Operation

Upon receipt of the EBPU, inspect the shipping carton for damage. If there is any obvious damage please report it immediately to your supplier. If there is no damage to the shipping carton, unpack the unit, inspect the unit for damage.

The EBPU is designed for installation in a protected environment with a temperature range of 0-40°C and relative humidity of 0-90% without condensation. Do not block inlets or outlets. Install the system in a location free from excessive dust and chemical fumes. Check the identifi cation label to verify that the EBPU voltage and power rating match the available line voltage and load requirements.

Troubleshooting with EBPU Indicators:

Yellow LED| Green LED| Red LED| BUZZER| UPS STATUS
---|---|---|---|---
ON| OFF| OFF| OFF| Mains normal, charging battery
ON| | OFF| OFF| Mains normal, UPS in normal mode
OFF| OFF| FLASHING| EVERY 5. SEC| Mains fail, running on battery
OFF| OFF| FLASHING| TWICE PER SEC| Low battery, prepare to switch off
OFF| OFF| SOLID| TWICE PER SEC| Overload, remove load
OFF| OFF| SOLID| CONTINUOUS| UPS faulty, switch unit off
OFF| OFF| OFF| OFF| UPS battery discharger, sleep mode

Installation

  1. Connect the power cord to a verifi ed grounded 3-wire receptacle.
  2. Turn on the power switch of EBPU, the green and yellow LED will be lit indicating AC utility voltage is present.
  3. Charge the batteries for 10hours before use. You may use the EBPU immediately without recharging, but the backup time may be less than the rating.
  4. Connect your computer to the output receptacles of the UPS.
  5. To Test backup function, you may disconnect the power cord of the EBPU from wall outlets. The red LED will fl ash, and buzzer will beep every 5 seconds.
  6. When the battery approaches low level, buzzer will beep twice per second until unit shuts down.
  7. 4 conditions that cause the EBPU to shut down automatically:
    • Battery Low
    • Short Circuit
    • Overload
    • EBPU Fault

Caution

  • The EBPU contains voltage that is potentially hazardous. All repairs should be performed by qualified service personnel.

  • The EBPU has its own internal energy source (battery). The output receptacles may be alive when the EBPU is not connected to an AC supply.

  • The EBPU is designed for electronic supply for applications such as electronic patient equipment and hospital beds containing a substantial rectifier or capacitive load. It is not suitable for significant inductive loads.

  • Be sure to operate within the power rating of the EBPU. Below 1/2 or 1/3 of the rated power is recommended for longer backup time and battery life.

  • Do not place the EBPU near excessive humidity, direct sunshine, or close to heat-emitting sources.
If the EBPU is out of order, detach power cord and consult your supplier right away. Do not remove the cover, there are no serviceable parts inside.

  • The unit should be supplied by a grounded source. Do not operate the unit without a ground source.

  • Do not plug the EBPU’s power cord into itself. That will result in a safety hazard.
