3. After emptying the dust cup, make sure that any hair or fibers that might have accumulated around the debris screen have been removed. To remove these, you can gently scrape it against the edge of a garbage can. (Fig. 15)

Emptying and Cleaning the Cyclonic Chamber
Periodically the cyclonic chamber will need to be emptied and cleaned. This does not have to be done every time the dust cup is emptied but it is recommended that you empty the cyclonic chamber every three (3) to five (5) months depending on use.

To empty the cyclonic chamber:

1. Hold the cyclonic chamber from the top over a garbage can and press the cyclonic chamber bottom door release button to empty the dust. (Fig. 16)

  2. Hold it upright under running water and let it fill half way. (Fig. 17)
  3. Shake it a little and then open the bottom door to empty the dirty water. (Fig. 18)

4. Leave the cyclonic chamber open to air dry completely before reinstalling into the dust cup compartment. (Fig. 19)

WARNING : To avoid risk of electrical shock, never operate the vacuum with the cyclonic chamber wet.

Filter Indicator Light
When the filter indicator light flashes, it means that the dust cup is full, the filters need cleaning or there is a blockage in the air paths. You must empty the dust from the dust cup, clean the debris screen, clean the filters and check the unit for any blockages. (Fig. 20)

Note : Occasionally the filter indicator light will flash momentarily if the air path is blocked when using the above floor tools. This is normal.

Cleaning the Filters
This vacuum comes with an exhaust filter, pre-motor filters and a HEPA filter.

Pre-Motor Filters:
The pre-motor filters are found underneath the dust cup. Under normal use, the 2 filters in the filter frame should be cleaned every three (3) to five (5) months for optimal performance of your vacuum.

To remove and clean the pre-motor filters:

1. Hold the filter frame and lift to remove from the vacuum. (Fig. 21)

2. Inside the filter frame are two (2) filters. Filter 1 is a foam filter and Filter 2 is a felt filter. Both are washable and reusable for the lifetime of your vacuum (under normal household use). (Fig. 22)

3. Rinse the filters in lukewarm water until the water runs clear. Squeeze and let the filters air dry for 24 hours before re-installing into the filter frame. Do not use a washing machine to clean the filters. Do not use a hair dryer to dry them. Air dry only. You can also rinse the filter frame if you wish. Never operate the vacuum without ALL the filters in place. (Fig. 23)

Note : To continue using your vacuum while the pre-motor filters are drying, you can replace them with the extra set of pre-motor filters that are included.

5. When the filters are dry, replace them into the dry filter frame. Insert the felt filter (filter 2) first and then place the foam filter (filter 1) over the felt filter. (Fig. 24)
6. Replace the filter frame back into the vacuum.

HEPA Filter

To remove the HEPA filter:

1. Remove the dust cup.
2. Remove the filter frame.
3. Hold the HEPA filter by the center tab and lift it up. (Fig. 25)

4. Turn the HEPA filter upside down and vigorously tap clean the HEPA filter on a hard surface to remove any residual dust that might be on the HEPA filter. (Fig. 26)

5. You can wash the HEPA filter by running it under the tap allowing the water to run on the dirty side (the top). (Fig. 27) Always allow 24 hours for air drying before replacing into the vacuum. (Fig. 27)

6. Replace the HEPA filter back into the vacuum after it has air dried for 24 hours.

Please Note: The white material in the HEPA filter will discolor over time – This is NORMAL and will NOT affect the performance of the filter

Exhaust Filter
The exhaust filter is located on the outside of the vacuum just above the motorized brush. This is a rinseable filter that should be cleaned approximately once every two (2) years or as needed depending on usage.

To remove and clean the exhaust filter:

1. Press down on the locking button to remove the exhaust filter cover. (Fig. 28)
2. Remove the filter and rinse under lukewarm running water. Let the filter air dry completely for 24 hours before replacing into the vacuum. Do not use a washing machine to rinse the filter. Do not use a hair dryer to dry it. Air dry only. Never operate the vacuum without the exhaust filter in place.
3. When the filter is dry, replace into the exhaust filter cover and replace on the vacuum.

Changing the Belt

WARNING : Always disconnect from power source when servicing or cleaning the unit. Failure to do so could result in electrical shock or personal injury from vacuum cleaner suddenly starting.

Occasionally the motorized brush drive belt will require changing, the frequency will depend upon the amount of use your vacuum sees.

1. Turn unit “Off” and unplug from wall outlet.
2. Remove the motorized floor brush from the main unit.

3. Use a flat head screwdriver or a coin and turn the three(3) screws counter clockwise one-quarter (1/4) turn. (Fig. 29)

5. Hold the brush and slowly slide the end cap out of the left side of the nozzle. (Fig. 31)

6. Insert the new belt over the motor shaft first and then over the brush. (Fig. 32)
7. Center the drive belt over the brush.
8. Insert the right end cap in first. (Fig. 33)

Fig. 32

10. Replace the brush roll cover and turn the three (3) screws one quarter (1/4) turn clockwise to lock in place.

Clearing Blockages

Occasionally the vacuum may become blocked by a build up of debris which will require cleaning. If the filter indicator light is flashing, but the filters have been cleaned recently, check the air paths for blockages. To reduce the risk of electric shock, the power cord must be disconnected before clearing a blockage or performing maintenance/trouble shooting checks.
CAUTION : If any part of your unit has a blockage, it may overheat and then automatically shut off. Unplug the vacuum and allow it to cool down for 45 minutes.
Important : Damages caused while clearing or attempting to clear blockages are not covered under your product’s limited warranty.

CAUTION : Beware of sharp objects when clearing blockages.

Important : Replace parts of the vacuum securely before continuing to use.

Clearing the Nozzle Hose
To clear a blockage in the nozzle hose:

2. Hold the hose inlet and pull it out from the floor brush hose connector. (Fig. 35)

3. Remove any obstructions and replace the hose back into the hose connector.

  • Push the On/Off button once.
  • Disconnect the plug from the power source.
  • Check the source of overheating problem. (i.e. clogged hose or filter)
  • If clogged hose or filter is found, unclog the hose and replace the filters.
