INSTALLATION
-
Remove the stock throttle body and intake manifold following the factory service manual for the particular bike you are working on.
-
With the stock throttle body and intake manifold removed, remove the fuel rail, stock fuel injectors, MAP sensor, manifold flanges and seals if they have not been already. Set these aside as you will re-use them.
-
Clean the manifold mounting surface of the cylinder heads to assure a positive manifold seal.
NOTE: You won’t put fuel rail and injectors in the manifold until the manifold is installed loosely in the motor. -
Place manifold flanges on the manifold, flat side toward the manifold and bevel toward head.
-
Install new manifold o-ring seals with the beveled side toward the flange and the flat side outward so that it contacts the cylinder head. Picture 1 illustrates the o-ring seal installed.
-
Install manifold on bike loosely.
-
Install the fuel rail and injectors into the manifold. Apply blue thread locker to the threads of the fuel rail bolts, install and torque to 100 in-lbs.
-
Lubricate the o-ring on the MAP sensor and install it in the S&S manifold. Apply blue thread locker to the screw that was removed that holds the MAP sensor in and tighten the screw to 20 in-lb. See Picture 2.
-
Pass the four bolts through the manifold flanges and thread into the head. Snug bolts up but leave loose, you will tighten later once the throttle body and back plate are installed.
-
Install the supplied o-ring into the manifold as illustrated in Picture 3.
-
Install the throttle body onto the manifold.
-
Install the air cleaner assembly per the manufacturer’s installation instructions
-
Once the air cleaner is installed go back and finish tightening the four manifold bolts that were left loose upon installation.
-
Apply the included label containing the CARB EO number to the frame down tube above or below the factory label. Do not cover up any portion of the factory label. See Picture 4.
