Installation

The GEP-M8Q GPS module has an integrated magnetometer and barometer, the following should be noted when installing it.

  1. The GPS antenna must be oriented towards the sky, do not block the antenna.
  2. The magnetometer must be kept away from magnetic interference in order to work properly, so when installing the M8Q module, be careful not to install it close to places where magnetic interference can be easily generated, such as power lines.
  3. Do not block the opening of the barometer, otherwise it will not be possible to read the atmospheric pressure data.
  4. The supplied sponge can be used to cover the top of the barometer to reduce the disturbance of airflow and improve the accuracy of the data.

GPS Setting

  1. Open the corresponding port according to the GPS wiring, e.g. port 5 and set
    the baud rate to 115200.

  3. Restart the flight control after setting up, the flight control will light up the GPS logo after setting to GPS.

Magnetometer & Barometer Settings

  1. Set the magnetometer and barometer to QMC5883 and MS5611 respectively in the configuration screen.

  2. If the GPS module is mounted in the same direction as the arrow indicates, set the magnetometer orientation to CW 180° flip

  3. The flight control will light up when the magnetometer and barometer are set.

  4. calibration of the magnetometer according to ground station instructions to ensure that the magnetometer is pointing correctly.

  5. Check that the barometer data is levelling off in the sensor interface when at rest
