Whirlpool W11613009 Diverter Motor Instruction Manual
Kit Contains:
1 Diverter Motor
1 Seal
1 Grease Pack
1 Instruction Sheet
Supplies needed:
1 – 90 degree mini pick tool
Note : This process applies only to models featuring a leak detection sensor on the diverter motor, which will display error code F9E5. This code indicate that the diverter motor has detected a leak from the diverter seal. Check the seal and replace as needed. During the removal of the diverter seal, only use a mini pick tool as shown and do not attempt to remove it with pliers or a screwdriver. Scoring of the motor shaft or the plastic sump shaft hole during service, even if minor, can cause a future leak path.
Removal Process:
Using the mini pick tool, press into the seal from the seal’s inner hole, and
in the direction towards the outer diameter.
Using the mini pick as leverage, torque the head of the pick to roll the seal
out of the shaft hole.
Installation Process:
After removal of the seal, check to make sure the plastic shaft and the sump shaft hole are not scratched or scored in any way. If a scratch is found, replace the entire sump.
To reinstall the new seal, apply a small amount of the included NSF approved grease to the inner diameter of the seal. See image below on location to apply
Orient the fully enclosed side of the seal facing up towards you during install.
Press the seal into the shaft hole by hand.
Ensure the shaft seal is fully seated in the bottom of the shaft hole.(see
images above)
Ensure the shaft seal face is perfectly flat within the shaft hole.
You can use a socket to push the seal down into the fully seated position.
