Thank you for choosing the Miditech Midiface 4×4 Thru / Merge. With the
Midiface 4×4 Thru / Merge you can connect up to 4 MIDI keyboards or input
devices and up to 4 MIDI expanders and keyboards to your computer and easily
manage them from your DAW with the simplest installation. With the Midiface
4×4 Thru / Merge you have 4 standard MIDI ports with 16 MIDI channels each as
inputs and outputs! So you get your MIDI hardware setup clearly managed.
In addition, this USB MIDI interface also offers standalone functions. For
this the interface must be powered by a standard USB power supply 5V/500 mA.
Then you can use it as a 1 in 4 MIDI Thru Box or a 2 in 4 MIDI Merger.
In the course of this short manual we will give some hints for the
installation and function of the Midiface 4×4 Thru / Merge.
Technical specs of the Midiface 4×4 Thru / Merge:
- Easy connection to the computer via USB 1,2 or 3
- Runs class compliant driverless on Windows Windows 7 32/64 bit, Windows 8 32/64 bit, Windows 10 32/64 bit, Windows 11 32/64 bit, iOS and Mac OS X.
- 4 LED indicators each for MIDI input and output activity.
- Additional standalone MIDI THRU function 1 x 4
- Additional standalone MERGE function 2 x 4
- USB Powered, no additional power supply needed at the computer.
- Including the Miditech “free software bundle”.

Connections and operating elements
The housing of the Midiface 16×16 is clearly labeled!
You will find the MODE switch “Model SW”, the USB Power LED, the MIDI activity
LEDs for the inputs and outputs 1 to 4 and the DIN MIDI ports 1 and 2 on the
front panel.
The USB Power LED indicates the correct power supply of the Midiface 4×4 Thru
/ Merge.
The 8 MIDI LEDs indicate the MIDI data transmitted in each case.
The MODE button
With this button you switch the different modes of the interface.

USB Mode
In this mode, which does not need to be switched, the Midiface 4×4 Thru / Merge runs driverless on any computer. The respective operating system installs 4 input and 4 MIDI output drivers when connected, which can be managed with a sequencer DAW software accordingly as inputs and outputs for MIDI devices.In this mode, only the USB Power LED lights up before use. -
THRU Mode 1
After pressing the “Model SW” button, the Midiface 4×4 Thru / Merge switches to the first MIDI THRU mode. The lower 4 LEDs light up green. The inputs 1-4 are directly routed to the corresponding outputs. 1 to 1, 2 to 2, 3 to 3, 4 to -
THRU Mode 2
After another push on the “Model SW” button the Midiface 4×4 Thru / Merge switches to the second MIDI THRU mode. The first lower LED lights up green, as well as the upper 4 LEDs flash briefly. Input number 1 is here routed to all 4 MIDI outputs, the outputs 1-4 get the signal from the first MIDI IN port. IN 1 to OUT 1,2,3,4. -
THRU Mode 3
After another push on the “Model SW” button the Midiface 4×4 Thru / Merge switches to the third MIDI THRU mode. The second lower LED lights up green, as well as the upper 4 LEDs flash briefly. Input number 2 is here routed to all 4 MIDI outputs, the outputs 1-4 get the signal from the second MIDI IN port. IN 2 to OUT 1,2,3,4. -
THRU Mode 4
After another push on the “Model SW” button the Midiface 4×4 Thru / Merge switches to the fourth MIDI THRU mode. The third lower LED lights up green, as well as the upper 4 LEDs flash briefly. Input number 3 is here routed to all 4 MIDI outputs, the outputs 1-4 get the signal from the third MIDI IN port. IN 3 to OUT 1,2,3,4. -
THRU Mode 5
After another push on the “Model SW” button the Midiface 4×4 Thru / Merge switches to the fifth MIDI THRU mode. The fourth lower LED lights up green, as well as the upper 4 LEDs flash briefly. Input number 4 is here routed to all 4 MIDI outputs, the outputs 1-4 get the signal from the fourth MIDI IN port. IN 4 to OUT 1,2,3,4. -
MERGE Mode
After pressing the “Model SW” button again, the Midiface 4×4 Thru / Merge switches to MERGE mode. Here the first two lower LEDs light up green, as well as the upper 4 LEDs flash briefly. The input number 1 and 2 are merged, that means mixed together and routed to all 4 MIDI outputs, 1-4 get the mixed signal from the first and second MIDI IN port. Input 1 and input 2 will mixed to the outputs 1,2,3,4.

Operating conditions
Do not use the keyboard near water, like a swimming pool, bathtub or in wet
environment like rain. Do not use the keyboard near heating elements like a
radiator, in high temperatures or in the sun. Use the product only on your
desk and in a dry environment. Do not throw the product.
DANGER! Electric shock due to short circuit
The device must not be used as soon as damage or the absence of components,
protective devices or housing parts is noticed! Avoid getting the device wet.
This can damage the electronics and there is a risk of electric shock or fire.
Do not modify the power cord or USB cable.
DANGER! FIRE HAZARD! Ensure that the product is adequately ventilated to prevent overheating and possible ignition. Also, do not smoke or handle open flames near the product. This may cause the plastic to ignite.
DANGER! Hearing damage due to volume
Our products have a lot to do with the production and reproduction of music
and recordings. Please note that excessive volume levels can damage your
hearing!
DANGER for babies and children
Ensure that children never use the product unattended! Children should not
operate the product unattended. If small parts such as buttons or
potentiometers become detached from the product, they can be swallowed by
small children. Foils and packaging must be disposed of properly. There is a
danger of suffocation for children.
Cleaning the Miditech product
Only use a dry cloth for cleaning and suitable plastic cleaners, never
aggressive cleaners or alcohol. Disconnect the device from the power supply
before use.
Protection of the environment and correct disposal
Information for consumers on the disposal of old electrical appliances
If this symbol is on the packaging, the packaging of the product can be disposed of in the local recycling process.
Miditech products should not be disposed of with normal household waste. This
applies to all electrical and electronic equipment. Within the scope of your
national regulations and guidelines, please take old appliances to the
appropriate collection points or return them to your dealer for proper
disposal.
