Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use these banana plugs with speaker wire of various sizes?
Yes, these banana plugs are made to work with speaker wire measuring 12AWG to 18AWG.
What is the maximum speaker wire length that I can use with these banana plugs?
The maximum length of speaker wire that can be used with these banana plugs is 100 feet.
Can I use these banana plugs with a wall plate?
Yes, these banana plugs are designed to work with the standard banana wall plates.
Are these banana plugs suitable for outdoor use?
These banana plugs are not suitable for outdoor use. They should be used indoors only.
Could this be a 4mm plug?
That’s right; the plug is a 4mm banana plug.
I removed the plastic plugs from my Marantz 6015 and decisive 9060 speakers, but these banana plugs still don’t fit. Does this apply to all systems?
The banana plug comes in two sizes. 2mm minis and 4mm standard. Perhaps you own the micro jacks. You might always take a measurement of the post holes’ diameter. However, I discover that every banana plug inserts quite tightly the first time. I would advise you to try slightly muscling them in if you haven’t already. But perhaps first measure the holes.
How to remove the plug’s collar?
Instead of the possibly more conventional wire side, the collar is screwed on from the plug side. This indicates that the plug does not need to be attached before the collar has been put on the wire. To access the set screws, unscrew the collar and slide it over the plug. Push the collar over the plug after installing the wire.
Can they be used with the Yamaha TSR-7790?
These complement my Yamaha TRS-700 wonderfully.
Can you put them in an RCAF?
No, they have distinct uses and sizes.
Should the speaker wire leads be tinned?
You could, I suppose, if you wanted to. No, I didn’t. Simply put, I took great care when cutting and inserting the plug. Being something of a perfectionist, I reasoned that there was no need to add anything that would hinder the connection since the plain screw in opposition to the premium wire is already clear-cut and straightforward. Only my two cents.
Will these take Monster wire from Best Buy for speakers? I apologise for not knowing the gauge. The volume control on my yahmaha amplifier turns off when it is turned up.
You may use either 16 or 14 gauge/AWG speaker wire. Some amplifiers can’t handle thicker than 12 gauge cable (smaller number gauge is thicker wire size)
Can you put them in an RCAF?
These cannot be used with RCA-style jacks.
Are there female versions of these connections, too?
Only male banana plugs are available. They lack a location where they could accept female relationships. These are exclusively used to accept speaker wire when plugging into devices like power supply, amplifiers, stereos, and other such devices that use banana plugs.
What number of amps (amperes) can they support?
12AWG to 18AWG speaker wire is accepted.
