AIRSPACE G1 Packaging Air Pillow Machine

THE OPERATOR CONTROL PANEL

On the Control Panel there are seven push buttons. (See picture 1)
The three push buttons on the top row are coloured green, yellow and red. Below the top row of push buttons there is a group of four white push buttons. There is a vertical row of indicator lights below the red push button.
The function and operation of the Operator Control Panel is described below.

TO START THE MACHINE

Momentarily push the green button to start the machine.
The machine will commence producing Air Pillows and continue to do so until either the red button is depressed; the fixed time has elapsed; or the roll has run out. Momentarily push the red button to stop the machine.
To load the film, push the yellow button.
The film will continue to load until the button is released.
When the machine is running, it will run for a pre defined fixed period and then stop automatically.
The machine can be stopped sooner by depressing the red button (three)
When the machine is first started all the indicator lights will glow.
The lights will extinguish from bottom to top as the fixed running period elapses.
Each light represents 10% of the set predefined fixed period.
The group of four push buttons may or may not be configured for use.
It depends on the machine configuration.

If the push buttons are configured for use they have two functions;

  1. To change the heat setting of the lateral seal.
  2. To change the volume of air in the Air Pillows.

HEAT SETTING
When you depress push button number four, the indicator lights will glow to indicate the current heat setting.

To increase the heat settings:
Depress and hold push button number four, and momentarily depress push button five.
The indicator lights will glow to reflect the new heat setting.

To reduce the heat settings:
Depress and hold push button four, and momentarily depress push button seven. The indicator lights will glow to reflect the new heat setting.

AIR VOLUME
When you depress push button number six, the indicator lights will glow to indicate the current air volume setting.

To increase the air volume settings:
Depress and hold push button six, and momentarily depress push button five.
The indicator lights will glow to reflect the new air settings.

To reduce the air volume settings:
Depress and hold push button six, and momentarily depress push button seven. The indicator lights will glow to reflect the new air setting

LOAD NEW ROLL OF FILM

Push the roll of film fully onto the film holder until it can go no further.
(See picture One)

Make sure the seal gap is next to the upper case.
(See Picture Two)

Cut the corner off the end of the film at the seal gap.
(See Picture Three)

Feed the film over the film guide pipe.
(See Picture Four)

Beware of the cutting blade that is located behind the film guide pipe.

Pull the film towards the drive bands until the film just starts to go between the bands.
(See Picture Five)

Beware of the cutting blade that is located behind the film guide pipe.
Press the yellow button (two) and the machine will pull the film through.
When the button is released, the machine will stop.

HOW TO CLEAR A JAM

  • Only trained personnel should undertake this task.
  • Beware of the cutting blade located behind the film guide pipe.
  • Remove the power chord from the input socket to ensure the machine is electrically safe.
  • Remove the roll of film from the machine.
  • Remove the two knurled knobs that secure the belt guard in place.
  • Remove the belt guard.
  • Release the case locks by lifting and twisting the butterfly flaps, and then unhook the catches.
  • Open the top case taking care not to permit the machine to topple backwards when it is open.
  • Remove any polythene that is caught up around the sealing head and belts.
  • Close the lid and secure the catches.
  • Refit the belt guard and knurled knobs.
  • Refit the power lead into the power socket.
  • Reload the film as described previously.
  • Restart the machine.

HOW TO CHANGE THE UPPER TEFLON BELT

  • Only trained personnel should undertake this task.
  • Beware of the cutting blade located behind the film guide pipe.
  • Remove the power chord from the input socket to ensure the machine is electrically safe.
  • Remove the roll of film from the machine.
  • Remove the two knurled knobs that secure the belt guard in place.
  • Remove the belt guard.
  • Release the case locks by lifting and twisting the butterfly flaps, and then unhook the catches.
  • Open the top case taking care not to permit the machine to topple backwards when it is open.
  • Whilst holding the top belt tensioner down, slip the belt off the rollers.
  • Whilst holding the top belt tensioner down, slip the new belt into place ensuring the light brown side is facing outwards.
  • Close the lid and secure the catches.
  • Refit the belt guard and knurled knobs.
  • Refit the power lead into the power socket.
  • Reload the film as described previously.
  • Restart the machine.

HOW TO CHANGE THE WELD BAR

  • Only trained personnel should undertake this task.
  • Beware of the cutting blade located behind the film guide pipe.
  • Remove the power chord from the input socket to ensure the machine is electrically safe.
  • Remove the roll of film from the machine.
  • Remove the two knurled knobs that secure the belt guard in place.
  • Remove the belt guard.
  • Release the case locks by lifting and twisting the butterfly flaps, and then unhook the catches.
  • Open the top case taking care not to permit the machine to topple backwards when it is open.
  • Remove the top Teflon belt as described previously.
  • Grip the weld bar with two hands and pull straight from the machine. (See picture six)
  • Push the new weld bar into position firmly.
  • Replace the top Teflon belt as described previously.
  • Close the lid and secure the catches.
  • Refit the belt guard and knurled knobs.
  • Refit the power lead into the power socket.
  • Reload the film as described previously.
  • Restart the machine.

HOW TO CHANGE THE LOWER SILICONE BELT

  • Only trained personnel should undertake this task.
  • Beware of the cutting blade located behind the film guide pipe.
  • Remove the power chord from the input socket to ensure the machine is electrically safe.
  • Remove the roll of film from the machine.
  • Release the case locks by lifting and twisting the butterfly flaps, and then unhook the catches.
  • Open the top case taking care not to permit the machine to topple backwards when it is open.
  • Lift the front lid to access the silicone belt.
  • Whilst lifting the lower belt tensioner, slip the belt off the rollers.
  • (See picture eight) Whilst lifting the lower belt tensioner, slip the new belt into place ensuring the smooth white surface of the belt is facing outwards.
  • Shut the front lid.
  • Close the lid and secure the catches.
  • Refit the power lead into the power socket.
  • Reload the film as described previously.
  • Restart the machine.
