What is Z-Wave?
Z-Wave is the international wireless protocol for communication in the Smart
Home. This
device is suited for use in the region mentioned in the Quickstart section.
Z-Wave ensures a reliable communication by reconfirming every message ( two-
way
communication) and every mains powered node can act as a repeater for other
nodes
( meshed network ) in case the receiver is not in direct wireless range of
the
transmitter.
This device and every other certified Z-Wave device can be used together
with any other
certified Z-Wave device regardless of brand and origin as long as both are
suited for the
same frequency range.
If a device supports secure communication it will communicate with other
devices
secure as long as this device provides the same or a higher level of security.
Otherwise it will automatically turn into a lower level of security to
maintain
backward compatibility.

Product Description
There have two touch buttons on front panel, anyone can be executed inclusion, exclusion and reset from Z-Wave network. The device has 2 main functions: Switch and Timing. There are two ways for controlling the wall switch. The one is touch button to turn on/off switch. Another is Z-Wave command class via network. The device also provides the function of timing, and users can turn off the device by opening this function and setting the time cycle, the setting method of which is shown in “Command Class Configuration”.
Prepare for Installation / Reset
Please read the user manual before installing the product.
In order to include (add) a Z-Wave device to a network it must be in factory
default
state. Please make sure to reset the device into factory default. You can do
this by
performing an Exclusion operation as described below in the manual. Every
Z-Wave
controller is able to perform this operation however it is recommended to use
the primary
controller of the previous network to make sure the very device is excluded
properly
from this network.
Reset to factory default
This device also allows to be reset without any involvement of a Z-Wave
controller. This
procedure should only be used when the primary controller is inoperable.
1 Power on the device. 2 Keep holding touched the button for 10s until the led turn to red, then release. Please include a request to use the reset procedure only when the primary controller is missing or inoperable.
Safety Warning for Mains Powered Devices
ATTENTION: only authorized technicians under consideration of the country-
specific
installation guidelines/norms may do works with mains power. Prior to the
assembly of
the product, the voltage network has to be switched off and ensured against
re-switching.
Inclusion/Exclusion
On factory default the device does not belong to any Z-Wave network. The
device needs
to be added to an existing wireless network to communicate with the
devices of this network.
This process is called Inclusion.
Devices can also be removed from a network. This process is called
Exclusion.
Both processes are initiated by the primary controller of the Z-Wave network.
This
controller is turned into exclusion respective inclusion mode. Inclusion and
Exclusion is
then performed doing a special manual action right on the device.
Inclusion
1 Set Z-Wave Controller into inclusion mode 2 Power on the device. 3 Touch any button 3 times within 1s. 4 The device will be entered into inclusion mode automatically.
Exclusion
1 Set Z-Wave Controller into exclusion mode 2 Power on the device. 3 Touch any button 3 times within 1s 4 The Device will be entered into exclusion mode automatically.
Quick trouble shooting
Here are a few hints for network installation if things dont work as expected.
- Make sure a device is in factory reset state before including. In doubt exclude before include.
- If inclusion still fails, check if both devices use the same frequency.
- Remove all dead devices from associations. Otherwise you will see severe delays.
- Never use sleeping battery devices without a central controller.
- Dont poll FLIRS devices.
- Make sure to have enough mains powered device to benefit from the meshing
Association – one device controls an other device
Z-Wave devices control other Z-Wave devices. The relationship between one
device
controlling another device is called association. In order to control a
different
device, the controlling device needs to maintain a list of devices that will
receive
controlling commands. These lists are called association groups and they are
always
related to certain events (e.g. button pressed, sensor triggers, …). In case
the event happens all devices stored in the respective association group will
receive the same wireless command wireless command, typically a ‘Basic Set’
Command.
Association Groups:
Group NumberMaximum NodesDescription
1| 2| Group 1, LifelineAll nodes which associated in group 1(lifeline group)
will receive the messages
---|---|---
2| 1| Group 2 is mapping to endpoint 1.
3| 1| Group 2 is mapping to endpoint 1.
Configuration Parameters
Z-Wave products are supposed to work out of the box after inclusion, however
certain configuration can adapt the function better to user needs or unlock
further
enhanced features.
IMPORTANT: Controllers may only allow configuring
signed values. In order to set values in the range 128 … 255 the value sent in
the application shall be the desired value minus 256. For example: To set a
parameter to 200 it may be needed to set a value of 200 minus 256 = minus
56.
In case of a two byte value the same logic applies: Values greater than 32768
may
needed to be given as negative values too.
Parameter 1: Relay On/Off Status Saved Enable
This parameter defines the on/off status of relay is need to save or not.
The status will be saved when relay status is changed if this parameter is set
to 1; otherwise the relay status is not saved. The wall switch will restore
the relay On/Off status previous when power on again
Size: 1 Byte, Default Value: 1
SettingDescription
0| The relay status is not saved when it changes, so it will not return to its
previous state after a power failure.
---|---
1| The relay status is saved each time it changes so that the relay will
return to its previous state after a power failure.
Parameter 2: Backlight Enable
This parameter defines the backlight state for touch button. The backlight
led is on when wall switch power on if this parameter is set to 1, otherwise
the backlight led is off. The default value is 1.
Size: 1 Byte, Default Value: 1
SettingDescription
0 | the backlight led is off |
---|---|
1 | the backlight state for touch button. |
Parameter 3: Relay On/Off Indicate
This Parameter defines the relay state. The led will be turn on with pink
color when the button is touched to turn on relay if this parameter is set to
1; otherwise the led is off. The default value is 1.
Size: 1 Byte, Default Value: 1
SettingDescription
0 | the led is off. |
---|---|
1 | the led is on |
Parameter 4: Root Device Controlled Settings
_This parameter defines which endpoint is mapped to root device (Endpoint 0).
The valid values are explained as follows. The default value is 1. 1Endpoint 1
is mapped to root endpoint 3Both endpoint 1 and 2 are mapped to root endpoint.
For example, assumes this parameter is set to 1 (default value). Controller or
other devices (such as door/window sensor, motion sensor, etc) that associated
the wall switch send a command BASICSET = 0xFF to wall switch, the relay in
endpoint 1 will be turned on; other relay status will not be changed.
Size: 1 Byte, Default Value: 1
SettingDescription
1 | Endpoint 1 is mapped to root endpoint |
---|---|
2 | Endpoint 2 is mapped to root endpoint |
3 | Both endpoint 1 and 2 are mapped to root endpoint. |
Parameter 5: Button Switch Function Disable
Setting this configuration as ‘0’ will be disabling to turn on and off the
relay by pressed button.
Size: 1 Byte, Default Value: 1
SettingDescription
0 | Button Switchwill be disabling to turn off |
---|---|
1 | Button Switchwill be disabling to turn on |
Parameter 6: Timer Enable
Setting this configuration as ‘1’ will start the timing function of the
plug, and the length of time is determined by the setting of Configuration:
No.7. This function can only provide the time to turn off device function when
the device is open.
Size: 1 Byte, Default Value: 0
SettingDescription
0 | turn off the timing function of the plug, |
---|---|
1 | start the timing function of the plug, |
Parameter 7: Channel 1 Off Time Setting
This configuration sets the time delay to turn off switch channel 1 when
channel 1 is turned on. This configuration is only valid when Configuration
No.6 is set to ‘1’. Unit: minute.
