ROOFTEC SYSTEMS Exterior Cleaning Chemicals

Your guide to using RoofTec chemicals for specific exterior cleaning applications.

Critical Steps to Prevent Risks and Ensure Satisfied Customers

  1. Before cleaning, test each product on a hidden area of the surface to be cleaned.
  2. Inspect all areas to be cleaned, taking note of any stained wood (doors or decks), cameras, electrical outlets, solar panels, lights, and fans. Protect as necessary. Also, be careful to prevent runoff into koi fish ponds. Communicate with customers about any existing damage, oxidation, old paint, or pre-existing dead plants before starting the job.
  3. Apply pre-cleaning fresh water rinse to any plants that may get overspray or run off and that may be damaged by cleaning solutions. Saturate gutter runoff ground areas with fresh water.
  4. Always use the appropriate personal protection equipment, including a respirator, goggles, and protective clothing.
  5. Completely cover the roof with a cleaning solution from the gutter line to the peak of the roof and walls from the ground to the gutter line. After 10 minutes, apply more solution to any areas of heavy organic growth still visible.
  6. After cleaning, use fresh water to rinse any plants that may have come in contact with the cleaning solution.

RoofTec System Settings

Tiled Roofs – Organic Staining (Algae, Moss, Lichens)

  • Sodium Hypochlorite – Set to 3%
  • WashTec – Set to 8 Litres/Hour or 2 Gallons/Hour
  • Water – open valve fully

If moss is present, it should be lightly brushed to remove most of the growth and air-blown from the roof before applying the cleaning solution.

Tiled Roofs – Inorganic Staining (Dirt, Grime, Cobwebs)

  • Sodium Hypochlorite – Set to 3%
  • DirtTec – Set to 8 Litres/Hour or 2 Gallons/Hour
  • Water – open valve fully

Siding – Organic Staining

  • Sodium Hypochlorite – Set between 1 and 1.5%
  • WashTec – Set to 8 Litres/Hour or 2 Gallons/Hour
  • Water – open valve fully

Wood Surfaces – Organic Staining

  • Sodium Hypochlorite – Set between 1 and 1.5%
  • WoodTec – Set to 8 Litres/Hour or 2 Gallons/Hour
  • Water – open valve fully

After cleaning, apply Neutra-Tec bleach neutralizer and rinse with fresh water.

Concrete, Block Pavers, Brick – Organic Staining

  • Sodium Hypochlorite – Set to 3%
  • WashTec – Set to 8 Litres/Hour or 2 Gallons/Hour
  • Water – open valve fully

Neutralising Surfaces and Equipment After Cleaning

  • Sodium Hypochlorite – Set to OFF position
  • NeutraTec – Set to 8 Litres/Hour or 2 Gallons/Hour
  • Water – open valve fully

If using a pump-up sprayer, mix at 240ml/4 Litres. For flushing equipment, turn the water to 90% on, sodium hypochlorite off, and the chemical flow meter to 8 Litres/Hour. Trigger wand for 1-2 minutes to neutralise cleaning solution in RoofTec system components.

Concrete – Grease and Oil
Do not use ConTec with Sodium Hypochlorite. If the surface has been previously cleaned with Sodium Hypochlorite, rinse thoroughly with fresh water first.

Apply ConTec with a pump-up sprayer at the following dilutions:

  • Light cleaning: Mix 30 to 120ml/4 Litres of hot water
  • Medium cleaning: Mix 120 to 240ml/4 Litres of hot water
  • Heavy cleaning: Mix up to 1 Litre with hot water to make 4 Litres

Rinse with fresh water after 10 minutes of dwell time.

Oxidation – UPVC, Vinyl Siding, Aluminum Siding, Gutters
Apply OxiTec with a pump-up sprayer at the following dilutions. Heavy oxidation may require a light brushing. Rinse thoroughly afterward.

  • Vinyl and Metal Siding: Mix ratio 1 part solution to 4 parts water
  • Gutters: Mix a ratio 1 part solution to 2 parts of water
  • Metal Roof Restoration: Mix ratio of 1 part solution to 1 part water
