VARMA INFRARED HEATER IRK HELIOSA 66 (code HED66/20, HED66-120) WHEATER RESISTANT IPX5 PROTECTED AGAINST RAIN
HELIOSA 66 is an extremely versatile heater working with short wave infrared rays. Its heat is immediate and due to the technology it is very efficient making operating costs and electricity consumption extremely cost effective. It has a compact design. HELIOSA 66 is manufactured with the best quality components in accordance to local, state and federal electrical standards.

WARNING

The safety of the appliance is guaranteed only with proper use of the following instructions. It is therefore
necessary to keep them for future reference. Disconnect from main electricity supply during installation and/or replacement of the emitter.

  • Torque wrench setting of the bracket adjustment screws ≥ 8 Nm.
  • The appliance must be installed on non-flammable surfaces.
  • The recommended minimum mounting height is 8 ft. ( 2,5 m) in height
  • The recommended minimum mounting clearance to ceiling or structure above is 12” (305 mm)
  • The minimum distance from the front face of the heater and the surface to be heated must be at least 4,92 ft. (1,5m).
  • The appliance must be installed beyond the normal accessibility volume.
  • The appliance does not have to be installed immediately under one electric socket.
  • The appliance must be mounted in a horizontal position (Deviation from horizontal will affect)

  1.  Keep the reflector clean in order to avoid emitter overheating.

  2. Never use an extension cable with this appliance.

  3. Attention: If you install HELIOSA 66 in proximity of tents or awnings, please assure that recommended installation heights and clearance are respected and that the heater is not in direct contact with the tent or awning material.

  4. Connect HELIOSA 66 to a 240V volts single phase power supply.

  5. HELIOSA 66 should always be grounded.

  6. It is important to ensure that the electricity supply is of adequate capacity for the electrical load required by the appliance being installed.

  7. The heater must remain horizontal at all times.

  8. The replacement of the cable and any possible repairs must be carried out by either the manufacturer, the authorized after sale service Centre or by a qualified electrician.

  9. “Risk of Fire” – keep curtain or any combustibles at least 13,12 ft (4 m) from the front of the heater and away from the sides

  10. After unpacking the product, check that everything is there; if in doubt contact the manufacturer or an authorized Technical Assistance Centre.

  11. Do not leave any packaging in the reach of children or the handicapped.

  12. Do not sit or rest objects on the appliance.

  13. Do not use the appliance where there are inflammable substances or vapors such as alcohol, insecticides, petrol, etc.

  14. Do not use the appliance in the immediate vicinity of a bath, shower or swimming pool, but keep it at a safe distance

  15. To prevent the risk of fire, do not install the appliance and its heating elements near to or directed towards curtains, beds or other objects or easily inflammable materials; there must be an adequate minimum distance ensured to avoid the risk of damage or fire.

  16. Do not touch it with wet and damp hands, do not touch it with wet feet.

  17. The appliance must not be placed immediately below a mains socket.

  18. Installation of the product must be carried out by professionally qualified staff, in compliance with the instructions in this booklet. Incorrect mounting and/or electrical connection can cause damage to persons, animals and things, and Varma Tec cannot be held liable for this.

  19. If using this appliance where there are children, supervision by an adult is necessary; this appliance must not be used, without assistance, by children or persons whose physical, sensory or mental capacities prevent them from applying the necessary safety precautions. Do not leave any packaging in the reach of children or the  handicapped.

  20. Do not modify the appliance in any way.

  21.  Pay particular attention when used in unmanned environments.

  22. Periodically inspect the completeness of the appliance by eye. In the event of any imperfection do not use it and immediately contact the manufacturer or an authorized Technical Assistance Centre.

  23. Before cleaning or doing any maintenance turn the product off and disconnect it from the electricity network by switching the plant off.

  24. If the product falls or receives a hard knock get it checked by the manufacturer or an authorized Technical Assistance Centre.

  25. Should you accidently touch the surface of the bulb, clean it immediately with a soft cloth moistened with alcohol.

  26. In the event of malfunction and/or breakdown turn the appliance off and immediately contact the manufacturer or an Authorized Technical Assistance Centre.

  27. Original Varma Tec spare parts must be used in any repairs. In the event of damage to the lead or its plug immediately replace it, this should be carried out at the premises of the manufacturer or an authorized Technical Assistance Centre. Use a lead with similar characteristics.

  28. Switch the main plant supply off when:
    a) there is a malfunction;
    b) you decide to clean the outside;
    c) you decide not to use the appliance for a long period of time.

  29. Do not cover or obstruct the front grille when in use.

  30. Do not cover or obstruct the appliance while it is on.

  31. Keep the front grille clean.

  32. If you decide to permanently remove the appliance, switch it off and disconnect it from the mains, and then keep it well out of the reach of children and the handicapped. It is also recommended to make it unusable by cutting its supply cable off.

  33. Do not use the appliance in conjunction with programmers, timers or other tools capable of turning it on automatically.

  34. Heaters must be switched on and switched off one by one. Do not use the main switchboard for switching on or switching off the units, to avoid voltage surges which could burn out the bulb.

THE EMITTER CAN BE DAMAGED IF TOUCHED WITH BARE HANDS, IN THIS CASE IT CANNOT BE REPLACED UNDER GUARANTEE

WARNING – RISK OF FIRE

  1. Do not place any objects such as furniture, papers, clothes, and curtains closer than 7 ft. ( 2,1m) to the front of the heater and keep them away from the sides and rear when the heater is plugged in.
  2. Do not place the heater near a bed because objects such as pillows or blankets can fall off the bed and be ignited by the heater.
  3. Always unplug the heater if it is not being used.
  4. Avoid the use of an extension cord because the extension cord may overheat and cause a risk of fire. However if you have to use an extension cord, the cord shall be No.14 AWG minimum size and rated not less than 2000 watts.
  5. Do not sit or rest objects on the appliance.

  4. If using this appliance where there are children, supervision by an adult is necessary; this appliance must not be used, without assistance, by children or persons whose physical, sensory or mental capacities prevent them from applying the necessary safety precautions. Do not leave any packaging in the reach of children or the handicapped.
  5. The temperature of the appliance is particularly high when in operation; therefore avoid touching the red hot surfaces with bare skin. Turn the product off and wait at least 5 minutes before carrying out any repairs.
  6. Do not modify the appliance in any way.
  7. Before cleaning or doing any maintenance turn the product off and disconnect it from the electric network by switching the plant off.
  8. If you decide to permanently remove the appliance, switch it off and disconnect it from the mains, and then keep it well out of the reach of children and the handicapped. It is also recommended to make it unusable by cutting its supply cable off.

INSTALLATION OF HELIOSA 66

  • Install the heater on wall with a minimum 12” (305mm) clearance from the ceiling or structure above. (see diagram)
  • The recommended minimum installation height is 8 ft. ( 2,5 m).
  • The ideal installation is on wall with a 45° inclination from horizontal
  • The heater MUST be mounted horizontally to the ground.
  • Do not place the heater immediately under a power socket.
  • Wiring procedures and connections shall be in accordance with the national and local codes having jurisdiction.
  • CAUTION – High temperature, risk of fire, keep electrical cords, drapery, furnishings, and other combustibles at least 7 ft. ( 2,1m) from the front of the heater and away from the side and rear.″
  • To reduce the risk of fire, do not store or use gasoline or other flammable vapors and liquids in the vicinity of the heater.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Warn that the heater must be properly installed before it is used. Adjust the reflector of HELIOSA 66 in the direction of the target heat area, when installing on a wall. The heater can be adjusted from 4 – 45 ° with a 45° inclination to the horizontal line as the optimal angle. The appliance must never be installed on a flammable surface. The appliance must be installed with the bracket included. The HELIOSA 66 must be placed at a safe distance (clear space) of minimum 7 ft. ( 2,1 m) from combustible materials such as: cartons, fabrics, curtains etc. as well as glass walls. If placed in workshops and garages where there are flammable paints and liquids, HELIOSA 66 must be placed at a minimum distance of 13,12 ft. (4 m). from the source of danger. We do not suggest the use of HELIOSA 66 in particularly dusty and closed areas as this could damage the emitter.

MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

REPLACEMENT OF THE EMITTER To be performed by qualified staff or specialized technician

  1. Disconnect the heater from the power supply.
  2. Assure the heater has been unplugged for at least 1 hour to cool down and avoid any possible burn situation.
  3. Unscrew the 2 front side panels (each has 3 screws).
  4. Remove the side panels from the dish, which come out by pulling them upwards.
  5. Remove the emitter by expanding the locking spring and sliding it out.
  6. With extreme care slide out the 2 silicone gaskets from the emitter, making them run back, for 2-3 cm. from the emitter.
  7. Very carefully slide out the two female fastons connected to the emitter male fastons.
  8. With extreme care insert the new emitter in the female faston, put again the two silicone gaskets, and fit the locking spring, taking care not to touch the emitter with bare hands.
  9. Reassemble the side panels of the dish.
  10. Screw back on the sides of the appliance with the 4 screws.

CLEANING

Before cleaning, make sure the power has been turned off at the circuit breaker panel and that the heating
element of the heater is cool. To maintain the heating efficiency of your HELIOSA 66, occasionally dust the
reflector and emitter with a clean brush, soft cloth or compressed air (Do not touch the heat emitter with your fingers as residue from your hand could affect the life of the emitter).
THE MANUFACTURER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE IN THE EVENT OF NON OBSERVANCE OF THE ABOVE INSTRUCTIONS.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS

When using electrical appliances, basic precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, including the following:

  1. Read all instructions before using this heater
  2. This heater is hot when in use. To avoid burns, do not let bare skin touch hot surfaces. If provided, use handles when moving this heater. Keep combustible materials, such as furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothes, curtains at least a 7 ft. ( 2,1 m) from the front of the heater and keep them away from the sides 4,92 ft. (1,5m). Extreme caution is necessary when any heater is used in areas with children or persons that may not have reasonable judgement around appliances. The heater should never be used when unattended.
  3. Do not operate any heater with a damaged cord or plug or after the heater malfunctions, has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Return heater to authorized service facility for examination, electrical or mechanical adjustment, or repair.
  4. This heater is not intended for use in bathrooms, laundry areas and similar indoor locations. Never locate heater where it may fall into or around water (including but not limited to bathtubs, sinks and wash stalls) or combustibles (including but not limited to straw, paper or wood and carpeted areas) or other container.
  5. Do not run cord under carpeting. Do not cover cord with throw rugs, runners, or the like. Arrange cord away from traffic area and where it will not be tripped over.
  6. Connect to properly grounded outlets only.
  7. Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust opening as this may cause an electric hock, or damage the heater.
  8. To prevent a possible fire, do not block air intakes or exhaust in any manner. Do not use on soft surfaces, like a bed, where openings may become blocked.
  9. A heater has hot and/or arcing and/or sparking parts inside. Do not use it in areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids, or highly combustible dusts are used or stored.
  10. Use this heater only as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
  11. To disconnect heater, turnoff power to heater circuit at main disconnect panel.

CERTIFICATE OF GUARANTEE – THE GUARANTEE EXCLUDE REPLACEMENTS OF THE BULB

We congratulate you on the purchase of our patio heaters VARMA INFRARED IRK. Validity 1 years from date of purchase of the appliance: the guarantee expires after this period. The invoice, receipt or hire purchase agreement shall prove the duration of the guarantee period. Replacements and repairs caused by faulty materials or manufacture are guaranteed. Replacements and repairs to those parts of the appliance subject to normal wear are excluded form this guarantee (see bulb etc.). The guarantee shall immediately cease and become void should the appliance be dismantled or repaired by unauthorized people, or in case of negligence, or accidental damage during transport or elsewhere, or in case of misuse, failure to comply with the instructions for use, maintenance carried out by unauthorized people, faulty installation not in conformity with the laws in force. Replacement of the appliance is excluded from this guarantee. The eventual repairs recognized in guarantee will be carried out free of charge for those appliances returned free VARMA TEC’s factory or to one of the authorized distributor. All transport costs are to be paid by the customer.
