GO4CORK 70026765 Hardwood Floor Blend Instructions

The following installation instructions are a recommendation but are not intended as a definitive project specification. They are presented in an attempt to be used with recommended installation procedures as recognized by the various Multi-Layer, Engineered Hardwood and Laminate Flooring Manufacturers Associations.

ROOM CONDITIONS

The area where the underlayment and the finished flooring are to be installed should be a Conditioned Space. As such, it should maintain a minimum temperature of 50 F. (10 C.) and a relative Humidity of less than 75%. Prior to installation, both the Go4Cork Nike Grind underlayment and the finished flooring product should be removed from their packaging and acclimated to conditions in the space where they are to be installed for a minimum of 24 hours. Consult the flooring manufacturer’s instructions for their specific details.

SUBFLOOR

All sub-floor work should be in accordance with the recommended procedures, as required by the manufacturer of the flooring being installed. Concrete subfloors should be level within the specification required by the flooring manufacturer, properly sloped and structurally sound. Wood subfloors should be level and structurally sound, within the flooring manufacturers required specifications. Remove any lumps or residue on the subfloor that may interfere with the proper installation of the Go4Cork Nike Grind underlayment or the finished flooring product. Note: Go4Cork Nike Grind underlayment is approved for use on Radiant Heated Sub-floors. The temperature of the floor, when the heat is operational, should be less than 85 degrees F. During the installation of Go4Cork Nike Grind underlayment, the radiant heat system should be turned off.

TESTING FOR MOISTURE

Test any slab on grade or below grade concrete, new concrete sub-floor or wood sub-floor system over a basement or crawl space for excessive moisture vapor transmission, prior to the installation of the Go4Cork Nike Grind underlayment. For Engineered Hardwood or fiberboard core Laminate Flooring, if excessive moisture is present (>10lbs. per 1000 s/f in 24hrs) in the sub- floor, a more serious moisture problem may exist which may require additional remediation. Consult the flooring manufacturer’s specifications for details.

VAPOR RETARDING BARRIER

Go4Cork Nike Grind Underlayment contains an integrated layer of film, which serves as a vapor retarding barrier. In normal conditions, an additional vapor retarding barrier film product is not required.

INSTALLING GO4CORK NIKE GRIND UNDERLAYMENT FOR FLOATING FLOORS

Measure the length of the area to be covered and cut the Go4Cork Nike Grind underlayment to length. Lay the material with the plastic film side up, starting in one corner of the room. Position the material so that the side with the folded layer of overlapping plastic film is against the wall. Butt the multicolored section of the product against the wall and wrap the folded overlapping plastic film up any walls or vertical partitions. Lay the next sheet with the overlapping folded plastic film side facing the sheet previously installed. Butt the sheets tightly together and when they are in place, unfold the overlapping film layer over the seam between the first and second sheets installed. Proceed to cover the entire room in the same manner, making sure the sheets are tightly butted together, without gaps. Tape the joints in the overlap ping film with 2” clear plastic packaging tape, to seal the seams and to keep the underlayment in position during the installation of the finished flooring. If there are any tears in the film that occur during the installation process, they should also be repaired using the 2” tape. F or this type of installation, it is typically not recommended that the underlayment be glued to the sub-floor. The exception would be in areas where wheel or caster traffic is expected with floating Vinyl Plank (LVT, SPC or WPC) Products. In these areas the non-film side of the Endurance Underlayment should be glued to the sub-floor with a pressure sensitive adhesive (in the dry or pressure sensitive state). After completion, the Go4Cork Nike Grind underlayment should cover the entire floor area without gaps and with the seams in the film completely sealed with the tape.

FLOATING FLOORING PRODUCT INSTALLATION

Follow manufacturers recommended instructions for the finished floor. After the finished flooring is installed, the underlayment and or vapor retarding film at the wall/floor intersection can be trimmed to allow for the installation of baseboard or other types of moldings and finishing trims.
