ZOOMAX LUNA 6 6-inch Handheld Electronic Video Magnifier
Introduction
Please read this user guide carefully. This guide will help you better understand the features of Luna 6. We constantly seek to improve our products. Therefore, it is possible that this guide is not the latest version available. You can download the latest user guide in the Technical Support section at www.zoomax.com.
Safety and Maintenance
To maintain Luna 6 in optimal condition:
- To avoid the risk of fire, do not expose Luna 6 to excessive heat or direct sunlight.
- Use the Luna 6 in environments where the temperature is between 10℃and 40℃ (50℉ and 104℉).
- To avoid the risk of electrical damage, keep Luna 6 away from fluids and chemicals.
- To avoid the risk of electrical shock, do not attempt to disassemble the unit. Please refer service requests to Zoomax or an authorized repair facility.
- Always unplug the Luna 6 before cleaning. Use a cleaning cloth or a soft damp cloth to clean the exterior. Do not use cleaning agents or abrasive material, as they will damage your video magnifier.

General Description
Charge the Battery
The battery MUST be fully charged before FIRST use with the supplied power
adapter. There are two charging methods: wireless charging and wired charging.
- Wireless Charging: Connect the adapter with the wireless charger. Put Luna 6 on the wireless charger and make sure the camera is in the camera slot and the handle in the handle slot.
- Wired Charging: Connect the adapter directly to the Luna 6 via the USB-C port on the top edge of the Luna 6. The power indicator light is RED while the device is charging. When the battery is fully charged, the power indicator light will turn off.
You can use the Luna 6 for more than 4 hours of continuous use. When the battery is low, the “low battery” icon will be shown on the screen and then the Luna 6 will be shut down.
Basic Operation
Open the Handle
Swing out the handle clockwise on the back of the Luna 6. From 0° to 180°, the
handle can stay at any position. Open the handle according to the illustration
in the figure below.
Power on/off
Press the Power button for 2 seconds to turn the Luna 6 on. You can turn the
device off in the same way. The device will shut down automatically after 3
minutes of inactivity. You can deactivate this power-saving function in System
Settings. Please refer to section “Power Saving on/off” on page 18.
Near/distance-view
Open or close the handle to switch between Near-view and Distance-view Mode. When the handle is closed, the Luna 6 is in Near-view Mode. When opening the handle, Luna 6 will switch to distance viewing.
Tips: By default, the camera is autofocus. When the camera loses focus, you can also short press the Mode button and the Freeze button simultaneously to refocus.
Zoom Control
Press Zoom in button to increase magnification and press the Zoom out button
to decrease magnification.
Select Color Mode
The color modes include full color and 10 high contrast color combinations:
white/black, black/white, yellow/black, black/yellow, white/blue, blue/white,
green/black, black/green, blue/yellow, and yellow/blue. You can choose your
favorite color mode in the Settings in Main Menu. Please refer to section
“Color Mode” on page 15. Press the Mode button for 1 second in high contrast
color mode to quickly switch to full-color mode.
Freeze an Image
Press the Freeze button to capture an image. Press the Zoom in or Zoom out
buttons to change the magnification level of a frozen image, or the Mode
button to change colors.
Panning
You can use the panning function to pan magnified images by moving them
vertically and horizontally across the display area to view specific areas of
the image. After capturing an image, press the Zoom in button to magnify it.
Press and hold the Home button along with any of the Freeze/Mode/Zoom out/Zoom
in buttons to move the image up/down/left/right respectively. Short press
these buttons to move the image a little bit at a time, or hold the buttons to
pan continuously.
Save an Image
Press the Freeze button and the Zoom in button simultaneously to save the
frozen image. A tick/check icon will appear on the screen indicating the image
has been saved.
If “memory is full” is displayed on the screen, it means the memory is full
and some pictures need to be deleted if you would like to save new ones.
Advanced Operation
Main Menu
In the real-time view, short press the Home button to activate the Main Menu.
There are 8 options in the Main Menu: Gallery, LED lights, Sound on/off,
Screen brightness, Intensity of contrast, Color mode, Reading line and masks,
and System settings. To select an option in the menu, move the Zoom in/out
button to cycle through the icons, and press the Mode button to confirm. Press
the Freeze button to go back. Press the Home button to go back to the real-
time view directly.
Gallery
In the Gallery , press the Zoom in/out buttons to cycle through the images,
then press the Mode button to confirm and view the image selected. You can
change the color mode by pressing the Mode button, or view details of the
image using panning function. Please refer to chapter 4.6.2 on page 10,
section “Panning”. Press the Freeze button and Zoom out button simultaneously
to delete the image. Press the Freeze button to go back.
LED Lights
Choose this option to switch LED lights on and off. In the LED Light setting,
press the Zoom in/out button to select between two options. Press the Mode
button to confirm.
By default, both LED lights are turned on.
Sound
Choose this option to set the system sound. In the Sound setting, press the
Zoom in/out buttons to select between “sound on” or “sound off”, and press the
Mode button to confirm. The sound is turned on by default.
Screen Brightness
Choose this option to adjust the screen brightness. In the Screen Brightness
setting, press the Zoom in/out buttons to change the screen brightness, and
press the Mode button to confirm.
Intensity of Contrast
The crispness of text in high contrast color mode can be affected by the
lighting conditions and the reading material itself. Luna 6 enables you to
change the intensity of contrast color to ensure the best reading experience.
In the Intensity of Contrast setting, press the Zoom in/out buttons to change
the intensity, and press the Mode button to confirm. In real-time view, you
can use a shortcut to adjust the intensity: hold the Mode button and short
press the Zoom in/out button to increase/decrease the intensity level.
NOTE: Before entering the Intensity of Contrast setting, please make sure that the real-time view is in high contrast color. The adjustment won’t work if the real-time view is in full-color mode.
Color Mode
In the Color Mode setting, you can hide the high-contrast colors you do not
use often. Press Zoom in/out button to move between the colors. Press the Mode
button to select or deselect a specific color mode. A slash line on an icon
means the color mode chosen is hidden. Once it’s done, press the Freeze button
or Home button to exit.
Reading Line or Masks
In the Reading line or Masks setting, press the Zoom in/out button to cycle
through five reading lines and mask options. Once it’s done, press the Freeze
button or Home button to exit. In real-time view, you can also press the Zoom
in and Zoom out buttons to activate the reading line and masks. Hold the Home
button and press the Zoom in/Zoom out button simultaneously to adjust the line
position or the width of reading masks.
System Settings
System Settings is the last option in the Main Menu. It is recommended to consult your supplier for system settings.
To select an option in the System Settings, move the Zoom in/out button to cycle through the icons, and press the Mode button to confirm. Press the Freeze button to go back, or the Home button to exit.
Refresh Rate
To change the refresh rate, choose the 60Hz/50Hz icon (it will display either
60Hz or 50Hz) and press the Mode button to enter settings. Press Zoom in/out
button to choose between the 2 options. The default refresh rate is 60Hz.
Power Saving
By default, Luna 6 will shut down automatically after 3 minutes of inactivity.
To enable or disable the power saving, use the Zoom in/out button to choose
between 2 options in the Power Saving setting. Once you turn this function
off, the Luna 6 will keep on until it runs out of battery.
Firmware Version
This option shows the software version of Luna 6.
Restore Factory Settings
Use this function to restore the factory settings of Luna 6.
Firmware Upgrade
For Zoomax service/distributor use only.
Other Functions
Transfer Files with PC
Files stored in Luna S can be transferred to the Window® computer through the
supplied USB cable. Before transferring the images, please turn on both Luna 6
and your computer. Connect them with the supplied USB cable.
To transfer images saved in Luna 6 to the computer, choose the images in folder “Luna 6” (the folder path is: Computer > Luna 6 > DCIM), and select the picture to transfer.
NOTE: Image transfer from your computer to Luna 6 is highly not allowed.
Connect to TV or Monitor
To view images on a larger screen, use the supplied HDMI cable to connect Luna
6 to an HDMI TV or monitor. For most TVs, it will be necessary to change the
input source to view the image from Luna 6. Once connected, the image from
Luna 6 will be shown on your TV or monitor.
Troubleshooting
Problem 1: Black screen. Solutions:
- Ensure that the power is on.
- Charge the battery.
- Decrease the magnification level or change the color mode.
Problem 2: The image on the screen is dark or distorted. Solutions:
- Ensure the unit is placed flat on the viewed material.
- Ensure the LED lights are on.
- Check screen brightness level.
Problem 3: Smudges or blemishes on the screen. Solution: Clean the camera and screen with a soft cloth.
Problem 4: The unit is connected to a TV, but no image appears on the TV screen.
- Ensure the TV is on.
- Ensure that Input Source on TV is set correctly.
- Make sure the HDMI cable is connected correctly to the TV.
Problem 5: Any other problem not mentioned in this guide? Solutions:
- The press Power button for 10 seconds to force the system shutdown.
- If all else fails, please contact your local Zoomax distributor or Zoomax support for assistance.
