Getting started

The web of the heating mantle is lubricated. Before using the device for the first time, you should heat it up without a flask. When doing so, there is the possibility of smoke generation. Wait for the smoke to vanish. The heating mantle is now ready to use.

Operation

To use the heating mantle, follow these steps:

  1. Place the heating mantle on a stable, clean, non-slip and fire-proof surface.
  2. Fill a flask with the liquid to be heated. Make sure that you do not overfill the flask.
  3. Place the flask on the web of the heating mantle.
  4. Turn on the device. The red lamp illuminates.
  5. Turn the rotary switch to the desired position to start the heating process. The green lamp illuminates.
  6. The lamp glows brighter or darker, depending on the set temperature.

ATTENTION: Do not touch the flask or the upper body of the heating mantle when it is in use.

Maintenance

Clean the heating mantle on a regular basis to increase its life span. Depending on the contamination, use isopropyl alcohol, water or water- containing tensides. Before cleaning, make sure that the device is turned off and that the power line is unplugged. Wear proper protective gloves during the cleaning.

Disposal

For the disposal of batteries in the EU, the 2006/66/EC directive of the European Parliament applies. Due to the contained pollutants, batteries must not be disposed of as household waste. They must be given to collection points designed for that purpose. In order to comply with the EU directive 2012/19/EU we take our devices back. We either re-use them or give them to a recycling company which disposes of the devices in line with law. For countries outside the EU, batteries and devices should be disposed of in accordance with your local waste regulations. If you have any questions, please contact PCE Instruments.
