ASSEMBLY OF THE LAMP
The assembly and changing of the ancillary equipment is to be carried out from a stable position.
Mouting the lamp CL21
Assembly of the frame for CL21: Fold the four arms away from the central
frame cross and snap them into place. The four velcro strips and the velcro
surface of the frame cross are located on the front of the frame.
We recommend that you always operate the lamp in frame mode using the threaded
pins provided. Align the velcro strips of the lamp with the velcro surfaces of
the frame and press them on.
When fixing, please always start with the pin in the corner where the cable leaves the lamp. Insert the set screw through the oval eyelet of the lamp head and loosely screw it to the ¼ inch threaded receptacle of the frame. Once all 4 setscrews are loosely screwed in, the ¼ inch threaded receptacles can be pushed further out to provide basic tension to the lamp/frame system. Tighten both the setscrews and the wing screws.
Attaching the CL21 spigot: The 16mm spigot is attached to the centre of the frame using a bayonet mount. The spigot is placed within the fastener, turned slightly then tightened using the union nut.
Mounting the lamps CL42 and CL44
Assembly of the frame for CL42 and CL44: Place the respective pipes successively on the cross and fix them with the fastening screws. Insert the spigot into the cross and lock it with the locking pin (when delivered the spigot is already mounted). Move in the pull-outs at the end of the pipes as far as possible, mount the lamp onto the hooks and tighten the lamp using the pull-outs. To use a softbox, insert the pins at the end of the pull-outs. To release the pins, briefly pull the locking knob on the back.
Mounting the lamps CL84 and CL8x8
Spanning the lamp: The lamp heads of CL84 and CL8x8 lamps can be mounted on any standard 8×8 frame using the bungee cords supplied. Please take safety precautions of the lamps contact surface with respect to windy weather conditions!
Folding and packing the lamp head: Place both sides on which the cables leave on top of each other, with the light emitting side facing inwards. Then lamp can then be quatered or directly rolled up and stowed in the provided bag.
Assembly of the SNAPGRID® for CL21, CL42 and CL44
The original CARPETLIGHT SNAPGRID® has been designed specifically for the respective lamp sizes. It can be attached using the velcro fasteners which surrounds the lamp body, or alternately directly to the softbox. Additional rubber straps can be tightened over the four corners using the pins. Both velcro fasteners and rubber straps provide enough support to use the lamp as a top light.
To prevent light being emitted from the lamp corners use the protruding velcro strips. Please check for possible fouling of the velcro fasteners to ensure a perfect bond.
Assembly of the softboxes for CL21, CL42 and CL44
Both CARPETLIGHT softboxes can be connected using the quick straps (push/pull operation) over the respective pins and using the velcro fasteners at the corners of the lamp head. To assemble the CL21 softbox, please screw in the treaded pins provided. For the assembly of CL40-series please snap in the dual-distance-pins provided and attach the softbox to the lamp head using the quick straps and velcro. To span the softbox please push the pull-outs of the frame to a maximum.
Assembly of the skirt for CL21 and CL42
When using the lamp as a toplight, it is recommended for some applications to use the black skirt, to narrow down the light angle even further. The skirt can be used separately or in combination with the softbox and/or the SNAPGRID®. Simply attach the velcro affixed to the skirt to the velcro attached to the lamp head or its ancillary equipment.
OPERATION OF THE CONTROL UNIT
Connecting the control unit
The control unit is connected using the supplied headfeeders:
- CL21: 5 pole headfeeder
- CL42/CL44: 6 pole headfeeder
- CL84/CL8x8: 4 pole headfeeder
ATTENTION: Do not twist or turn the headfeeder connectors since the plugs and sockets of the headfeeders are push /pull connectors. For CL40 series disengage by pulling back the center shell of the plug. Note that the 6 pole headfeeder has an additional interlock to avoid uncontrolled unplugging. When inserting the plug into the socket make sure the arrow mark on the plug is pointing upwards. Take note of the white marker.
The SpeakOn-DC connector is a lockable slewing mechanism. Plug the connector into the socket by finding the correct slot and then, with slight pressure, turn to the right. To disconnect, retract the silver slider, then slightly rotate left, then unplug the cable.
Different ways of connecting the power supply: Mains supply 90-240 Volt
Connect the Speak On DC plug of the power supply to the Speak On socket (DC IN) by inserting and twisting right. (To unplug pull the top lever back and twist left). After that, connect the power supply to the mains outlet with the supplied AC cable.
V-mount operation
Connect the SpeakOn DC plug of the supplied V-mount adapter to the SpeakOn
socket (DC IN) by inserting and twisting right. (To unplug pull the top lever
back and twist left.) After that, insert two batteries (with a minimal
discharge current of 9 Amps/each) to the V-mount adapter.
An alternative DC power supply can be used after approval by CARPETLIGHT
GmbH. Do not connect or disconnect the connectors of the power and control
cable while voltage or current are present. We decline any liability for
damages caused as a result of non observance.
ATTENTION: when using V-mount batteries, only use 2x 14,4V. The control
