Skinner Pipe Joint Clamp
PIPE JOINT CLAMP
The Skinner Pipe Joint Clamps are designed for use on Steel, Ductile and Cast Iron pipes to stop leaks at threaded connections. This clamp can be used on pipes for Gas, Water, Oil, or Ammonia. Sizes and pressure ratings are as follows:
Size | Max. Working Pressure |
---|---|
0.50” | 1500 psi |
0.75” | 1500 psi |
1.00” | 1500 psi |
1.25” | 1500 psi |
1.50” | 1500 psi |
Size | Max. Working Pressure |
---|---|
2.00” | 1500 psi |
2.50” | 1000 psi |
3” | 1000 psi |
4” | 750 psi |
6” | 400 psi |
Installation Procedure
Step #1| Thoroughly clean the damaged area with a wire brush. Remove all
pipe scale, rust, and foreign material. This will help insure a “bubble tight”
seal.

Step #2| Assemble Gasket Container Ring over pipe with lip side toward
fitting; leave joint between halves open about 1/8”.
Step #3| Pack gasket under Gasket Container Ring, make sure that the
scarf joint in the gasket is flush.
Step #4| Assemble Sliding Push Ring halves and slide under gasket
retainer ring against gasket and tighten Gasket Retainer Ring screws.
Step #5| Assemble halves of Stationary Main Ring over Sliding Push Ring
then tighten halves together securely.
Step #6| Tighten setscrews in the Stationary Main Ring to friction hold
on pipe, and drive the ring forward to take out slack. This insures that all
the drive of the thrust screws will be expended on the gasket later.
Step #7| Tighten setscrews tight so points bite into pipe to prevent
slip back.
Step #8| Tighten the thrust screws evenly, all the way around, a turn at
a time until the leak stops.
Step #9| Pressure test the completed installation for leaks.
Step #10| Before leaving, check for leaks.
GASKET Material: NEOPRENE (Polychloroprene Rubber) rated at 300 F Max to
-80 F Min Temp.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT EXCEED TEMPERATURE OR PRESSURE RATINGS!
