COMPONENTS
QUICK START
IMPORTANT WARNINGS
- DO NOT attempt to remove regulator while the cap is still on the bottle
- DO NOT clean plastic components in dishwasher (bottle is top-rack dishwasher safe)
- DO NOT store or use with liquids over 120°F
- Excessive suspended particles may lead to clogs or leaks
- DO NOT fill past “FULL” line
MIXING YOUR DRINK
- Add enough ice so that there is still some left after shaking. One or two handfuls of ice should be sufficient.
- If you’re unhappy with how a recipe pours, try adding less sugar or replacing sugar with a different sweetener. Agave nectar or stevia are much less prone to foaming.
- If you’d like more carbonation in your drink, try shaking for another 30 seconds. The drink will also naturally carbonate as it sits.
- If you’d like to make teas or other infusions using leaves or solid materials, we recommend making the infusion first then filter and transfer to the Twist.
Quick Hard Seltzer Recipe
Add to TWIST:
-
Handful of ice 2. 3oz (2 shots) of vodka for
Twist 24, 4.5oz (3 shots) for
Twist 36 -
Add TWIST flavoring per label instructions
-
Top off with cold filtered water to “FULL” line
QUICK CLEANING
USING THE TWIST
-
The uKeg Twist should maintain adequate pressure to carbonate and dispense the entire contents for up to 8 hours. If you find the uKeg Twist unable to dispense:
a. If there seems to be too low of pressure to dispense, try shaking the Twist for a few seconds then try again.
b. If there still not enough pressure to dispense, you can remove the cap to pour the last of your drink.
c. If pressure was still present in the bottle, the inlet filter may be clogged, follow the procedure outlined in the troubleshooting guide, section 2 for removing and cleaning the filter.
d. Be sure to check the cap seal, regulator seal and the cartridge seal. Worn or damaged seals can lead to premature loss of pressure in the uKeg Twist. -
There is a safety lock that prevents the Regulator from being unscrewed while the cap is on the bottle.
If the Regulator cannot unscrew after the cap has been removed, use a small screwdriver or paper clip and push into the small hole beside the regulator. This will push the lock down into the unlocked position. -
A filter screen is included with your Twist. This screen should be used anytime you’re putting fresh fruits in the Twist.
MAINTENANCE
-
Always inspect the cartridge seal before use. If the cartridge seal looks warn or damaged, or if there is a small amount of gas leakage around the cap rim when the cartridge is first pierced, replace the cartridge seal before using.
a. Squeeze the tabs on the Cartridge Seal Retainer and pull down.
b. Remove and replace the Cartridge Seal. Be sure to install the seal in the correct orientation. (The smaller lobe should point outward)
c. Push the Cartridge Seal Retainer into the Regulator until both tabs snap out and engage. -
If using again right away…. Check that the cartridge seal is not crushed, run under warm water to quickly re-form seal.
-
Remove the Filter to clean after using fruit or other solids to flavor the uKeg Twist.
a. Use a small screwdriver or other flat tool to pop the Filter out of the Restrictor.
b. Clean the filter with small brush or sponge, let fully dry
c. Replace Filter into the Restrictor by gently pushing around the edge until it clicks in place -
When reinstalling the straw, for best performance push the straw in firmly to fully seal it.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Issue | Solution |
---|
Gas, liquid and/or foam is released around the perimeter of the cap when the
cartridge is pierced.| This is an indication the over-pressure release was
activated. If the release stops quickly and everything works normally
afterward, change the cartridge seal (see maintenance section) before next
use. Replacement seals available at
growlerwerks.com
If the release continues, follow these steps: 1- Turn the Twist upside down
and release pressure by holding the Dispense button. 2 – Remove Cap. 3 –
Unscrew Regulator 4 – Replace the Cartridge Seal (see maintenance section) 5 –
einstall the cap and try another cartridge 6 – If the issue persists, contact
customer support. The main cap seal may be damaged. Replacements available at
growlerwerks.com
Cartridge well fills up with liquid when the cap is screwed on.| There is
debris stuck under the valve at the bottom of the cartridge well. Carefully
clean under the rubber and push rubber when with your finger while twisting.
The valve at the bottom of the cartridge well is missing or damaged. Replace
before using.
There is no drink being dispensed, or drink is dispensing very slowly.| The
cartridge may not have pierced. Try screwing the regulator another ¼ turn or
so.
There may be a blockage at the filter. If drink is dispensing slowly use as
normal, then remove and thoroughly clean filter.
If the Twist is not dispensing at all, try to remove the cap. If the cap comes
off easily then the Twist ran out of gas.
• Check all seals and replace any that show signs of damage.
• Retry with a new cartridge. Sometimes cartridges are only partially filled
• If problem persists, contact customer service
If the Twist is not dispensing at all, and the cap is too tight to easily
remove, then the filter has become completely blocked.
• Turn the Twist upside down and press Dispense button. Gas should escape
until the Twist is depressurized.
• Remove the Cap and Remove the Filter and Restrictor to inspect
• Clean any blockages and retry. The drink may contain too many small
particles, in this case filter the drink through a strainer and replace. Next
time use a tea ball or infuser cage to hold solids.
There is a lot of air in the straw before the drink comes out, having to use
the button to drink properly.| The straw may not be properly seated. Clean the
straw, make sure there is nothing inside the straw port, and push firmly to
seat.
There may be an issue with the valve diaphragm. Contact customer support.
It feels like you are continuously pulling air in while drinking. Or liquid
seeps around the Dispense button while serving.| There may be an issue with
the valve diaphragm. Contact customer support.
