WinKeyer USB CW Keyer Assembled/Tested
Designed by K1EL in the USA Assembled in the UK
REV C is the current shipping version.
Rev C uses the CH340 USB IC. Please refer to the WKUSB User Guide for more information.
WKUSB, with a WinKeyer IC, is K1EL’s original CW interface for the PC.
It provides a convenient way to connect your PC to an amateur radio transceiver and send Morse both under computer control and by iambic paddle.
Morse keying that is generated by a PC based application is prone to timing problems that are a result of the multitasking nature of Windows and other operating systems. All it takes is a long disk search or slow peripheral access to upset the intricate timing of Morse letters. This shows up even more at higher speeds such as you would find in a CW contest. Winkeyer replaces PC generated Morse and produces perfectly timed elements at speeds up to 99 WPM.
In addition, WinKeyer provides an optical isolation between your PC and radio to prevent ground loops and electrical noise problems. If that’s not enough, WinKeyer gives you a complete standalone keyer with speed control, message buttons, and a paddle interface.
It is hard to find a contest or logging app that does not support WinKeyer. K1EL created the Winkeyer interface back in 2001 and did all the work convincing software developers to incorporate it into their applications.

What’s the difference between this version and the version sold direct from K1EL in the states?
K1EL only sells direct to USA addresses, outside of the USA Kanga Products (UK) are the sole distributor of his products but what is the difference in the products? The main and obvious difference is the case. K1EL uses a local source for his cases that doesn’t supply to the UK so Steve (K1EL) designed a new PCB to fit into a case that is available in the UK. Since Steve designed a new PCB he made a few changes, now a smaller USB connector and all the input/output sockets are 3.5mm types (no more RCA connectors) The WinKeyer USB still gives outputs for two radios and both outputs also give PTT connections too. All the great functions of the original are included and in fact the WinKeyer USB uses the same CW Processor chip as used in the original version. The WinKeyer USB is not a copy of K1EL’s keyer it IS K1EL’s keyer all designed and coded by K1EL just supplied from the UK! The most software supported CW host controller in the world! The WinKeyer USB is the first choice of professional CW Contesters but still at home with simple home brew radios too. Invest in the best….The WinKeyer USB
Output Connections: WinKeyer USB 3.5mm output connectors (KEY1 and KEY2) are 3.5mm stereo sockets, and are both wired the same, Tip : Is the Keying line output Ring : PTT Keying line Sleeve : Common Ground for both signals Note each KEY output is fully isolated from the other via opto-isolated mosfet solid state relays.
The WinKeyer USB is ONLY available from kanga products outside of the USA
