Safety instructions

Read all the safety information and general instructions. Failure to obey the safety information and general instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.
Keep all the safety information and general in- structions for future reference.

  • These safety instructions apply only to 18V Li-ion rechargeable batteries for the POWER FOR ALL system.

  • Use the rechargeable battery only in products from POWER FOR ALL System part- ners. 18 V rechargeable batteries labelled with POWER FOR ALL are fully compatible with the following products:

  • All products of the 18V POWER FOR ALL battery system

  • All 18 V products from POWER FOR ALL Sys- tem partners

  • Observe the battery recommendations in the operating manual of your product. Only this way can the rechargeable battery and the product be operated without danger and the rechargeable batteries protected from hazardous overloading.

  • Only charge the batteries using chargers re- commended by the manufacturer or by POWER FOR ALL system partners. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery may pose a fire risk when used with a different battery.

  • The battery is supplied partially charged. To ensure full battery capacity, fully charge the battery in the charger before using your power tool for the first time.

  • Keep battery packs out of the reach of children.

  • Do not open the battery. There is a risk of short-circuiting.

  • In case of damage and improper use of the battery, vapours may be emitted. The battery can set alight or explode. Ensure the area is well ventilated and seek medical attention should you experience any adverse effects. The vapours may irritate the respiratory system.

  • If used incorrectly or if the battery is damaged, flammable liquid may be ejected from the battery. Contact with this liquid should be avoided. If contact accidentally occurs, rinse off with water. If the liquid comes into contact with your eyes, seek additional med- ical attention. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns.

  • If the battery is damaged liquid can be ejected and cover nearby surfaces. Check af- fected parts. Clean these parts or change them if necessary.

  • Do not short-circuit the battery pack. When the battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects, that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.

  • The battery can be damaged by pointed ob- jects such as nails or screwdrivers or by force applied externally. An internal short cir- cuit may occur, causing the battery to burn, smoke, explode or overheat.

  • Never service damaged battery packs. Service of battery packs should only be performed by the manufacturer or authorized service pro- viders.
Protect the battery against heat, e.g. against continuous intense sunlight, fire, dirt, water and moisture. There is a risk of explosion and short- circuit- ing.

  • Only operate and store the battery at an am- bient temperature between -20 °C and +50 °C. Do not leave the battery in your car in the summer, for example. At temperatures of  < 0 °C some devices may experience a loss of power.

  • Only charge the battery at an ambient tem- perature which is between 0 °C and +35 °C. Only charge the rechargeable battery with a USB cable at an ambient temperature which is between +10 °C and +35 °C. Charging out- side of this temperature range can increase the risk of damage to the battery and pose a fire hazard

Battery Charge Indicator on the Rechargeable Battery

Note: Not all battery types have a battery charge indicator.
The LEDs on the battery charge indicator on the rechargeable battery indicate the state of charge of the battery. For safety reasons, it is only possible to check the charging status when the power tool is at a standstill. Press the button for the battery charge indicator on the rechargeable battery to show the state of charge. This is also possible when the rechargeable battery is removed.

Maintenance and Service

Maintenance and Cleaning

Occasionally clean the ventilation slots and the terminals on the battery using a soft brush that is clean and dry.

  • “Derivative Works” shall mean any work, whether in Source or Object form, that is based on (or derived from) the Work and for which the editorial re- visions, annotations, elaborations, or other modifications represent, as a whole, an original work of authorship. For the purposes of this License, Derivative Works shall not include works that remain separable from, or merely link (or bind by name) to the interfaces of, the Work and Derivative Works thereof.
  • “Contribution” shall mean any work of the authorship, including the original version of the Work and any modifications or additions to that Work or De- rivative Works thereof, that is intentionally submit- ted to the Licensor for inclusion in the Work by the co-copyright owner or by an individual or Legal Entity authorized to submit on behalf of the copyright owner. For the purposes of this definition, “sub- mitted” means any form of electronic, verbal, or written communication sent to the Licensor or its representatives, including but not limited to com- munication on electronic mailing lists, source code control systems, and issue tracking systems that are managed by, or on behalf of, the Licensor for the purpose of discussing and improving the Work, but excluding communication that is conspicuously marked or otherwise designated in writing by the copyright owner as “Not a Contribution.” “Contributor” shall mean Licensor and any indivi- dual or Legal Entity on behalf of whom a Contribu- tion has been received by the Licensor and subsequently incorporated within the Work.

If You institute patent litigation against any entity (including a cross-claim or counterclaim in a lawsuit) alleging that the Work or a Contribution incorporated within the Work constitutes direct or contributory patent in- fringement, then any patent licenses granted to You under this License for that Work shall terminate as of the date such litigation is filed.
  • Redistribution. You may reproduce and distri- bute copies of the Work or Derivative Works the- reof in any medium, with or without modifications, and in Source or Object form, provided that You meet the following conditions:

The contents of the NOTICE file are for informational purposes only and do not modify the License. You may add Your own attribution notices wi- thin Derivative Works that You distribute, alongside or as an addendum to the NOTICE text from the Work, provided that such additio- nal attribution notices cannot be construed as modifying the License. You may add Your own copyright statement to Your modifications and may provide additional or different license terms and conditions for use, reproduction, or distribution of Your modifications, or for any such Derivative Works as a whole, provided Your use, reproduction, and distribution of the Work otherwise complies with the conditions stated in this License.
  • Submission of Contributions. Unless You ex- plicitly state otherwise, any Contribution intentionally submitted for inclusion in the Work by You to the Licensor shall be under the terms and conditi- ons of this License, without any additional terms or conditions. Notwithstanding the above, nothing herein shall supersede or modify the terms of any separate license agreement you may have executed with the Licensor regarding such Contributions.
  • Trademarks. This License does not grant per- mission to use the trade names, trademarks, service marks, or product names of the Licensor, ex- cept as required for reasonable and customary use in describing the origin of the Work and reproducing the content of the NOTICE file.
  • Disclaimer of Warranty. Unless required by applicable law or agreed to in writing, Licensor provides the Work (and each Contributor provides its Contributions) on an “AS IS” BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF ANY KIND, eit- her express or implied, including, without limitation, any warranties or conditions of TITLE, NON-IN- FRINGEMENT, MERCHANTABILITY, or FITNESS

  • Accepting Warranty or Additional Liability. While redistributing the Work or Derivative Works thereof, You may choose to offer, and charge a fee for, acceptance of support, warranty, indemnity, or other liability obligations and/or rights consis- tent with this License. However, in accepting such obligations, You may act only on Your own behalf and on Your sole responsibility, not on behalf of any other Contributor, and only if You agree to in-indemnify, defend, and hold each Contributor harmless for any liability incurred by, or claims asserted against, such Contributor by reason of your accepting any such warranty or additional liability.
