The transducer need to positioned just above or slightly below the boat’s bottom. front edge (the edge closest to the transom of the boat). Once the transducer is tilted out of the water by one click, it cannot maintain a reading.
How deep into the water should a transducer be when ice fishing?****
First, hang your transducer in your hole about 1 foot beneath the ice. Then, twist the range to the first depth to switch the device on. Usually, this depth is 20 feet.
Should a transducer be cleaned?****
In most cases, the transducer requires little maintenance. When docking, though, the transducer face needs to be examined and cleaned.
Can I test my transducer in a dry environment?****
When the boat is not in the water, you cannot test the transducer’s capacity to read depth. The transducer’s sound waves are dissipated by air, which prevents the transducer from taking a reading.
