Annie BERNINA 335 Sewing Machine

Pattern Requirement*:

“Under Cover” by Patterns by Annie. The sample size is a small, to fit a BERNINA 335. You choose the size depending upon the measurements of your machine.

Measure your machine first! Look at the diagram below to show how to measure the machine and fill in the results:

Choose the size according to your machine measurements. If your measurements are in between sizes, go one size up.

S – 12 ½”H x 15 ½” W x 6 ½” D
M – 13” H x 17 ¾” W x 8” D
L – 14 ½” H x 20 ½” W x 8”

Coordinating Fabric (for binding, borders, flap facing and zipper pulls:

S – 36”x 58”

Fusible Interfacing (All sizes) – ½ yd
Mesh Fabric (All sizes) – 1 package of By Annie Mesh Fabric
Fold Over Elastic (All sizes) – 1 package of By Annie Fold Over Elastic
Magnetic Snaps (All sizes) – Two 14mm magnetic snap sets
Handbag Zippers:
S – One 30” double slide handbag zipper
M, L – One 40” double slide handbag zipper
OR
For all sizes – One package of By Annie “Zippers by the Yard” – Highly
recommended! You can get a lot of zippers out of one package.

Tools Required*:

Thread to match your fabrics and zippers
Rotary Cutter
Ruler ( at least 6 ½” by 24” in length
Clover Clips – These are important! You will need these clips to hold the pieces together while sewing as the layers are too thick for pins. The clips come in either a 10-pack or 50-pack. The 10-pack gives you enough clips for the project but I feel it’s worth it to invest in the 50 pack because you will find these clips indispensable for any project that involves thick layers. Also fantastic for attaching binding to a quilt. Please do not substitute plastic clips you might find on Amazon, they’re not as high quality as the Clover Clips.

Stylus – Wonderful to use to keep thick layers and zippers straight while sewing the pieces together. You can use the point of a seam ripper instead, but a stylus works much better.
1 pkg size 90 Topstitch or Jeans needles Pins
Marking pencil or chalk (my favorite is the Cloves Chaco liner marker in white, yellow or gray).

Notes: The pattern comes with a $5 coupon for a video that highlights the construction of the cover . I strongly recommend using the coupon and viewing the video before class to get a better understanding of how this cover is made.

If you are bringing your own machine, please bring, if available, a ¼” foot and an edge stitch foot. If you are a BERNINA owner and your machine uses the feet with the “red” numbers, please bring, if you have any, a #37 (1/4” foot) and #10 (edge stitch foot). We have a few of these feet available for our classroom machines but we are in short supply.
