NOTE: If mounting the doorbell, you will need a screwdriver or drill (not included).

NOTE: please ensure you remove the plastic cover around your doorbell in order to gain access to your USB port, MicroSD port, QR Code Etc.

create an account and log in.

Preparing the Doorbell for installation
IMPORTANT: You must have an existing wired Doorbell to use this product.
Test 1: Does your current Doorbell work? If the current Doorbell chime
doesn’t work, please consult an electrician prior to installation.
Test 2: Using a mobile device, verify you have at least 50% Wi-Fi signal
strength at the Doorbells loaciton.
NOTE: Please complete the doorbell signal test before proceeding with the installation.
For best results, perform the setup process close to your wireless router or
recorder.
NOTE: For initial setup / pairing, have your Doorbell within 1 to 3 feet
of your router or recorder.
Initial Start-up Steps
- Carefully remove the faceplate from the Night Owl Doorbell. Insert the small end of the provided USB cable into the micro USB port on the Doorbell.
- Connect the other end of the cable to a USB power adapter and plug it into an outlet. If you do not have a USB power adapter, you may use a USB charging port.
- Be patient as the Doorbell powers up. Listen for the audio message “Doorbell is in Pairing Mode.”
Connecting to a Wi-Fi router
- Open Night Owl Protect app
- Tap on “Add New” or “+”
- Scan the QR code at the side of the doorbell
- Follow the on-screen display to add the Doorbell step by step.
NOTE: The Router’s security protocol MUST be set to WPA/WPA2 (strong security).
If setup is completed using Network Discovery or Manual setup by UID once your device is added to the network you will need to select the category of the device to proceed.
Add your Camera
To begin viewing your camera, add it to the Night Owl app or to a compatible
recorder.

Replacing the Existing Wired Doorbell
- Test by pressing the existing doorbell button. If the existing doorbell chime does not ring, your existing doorbell wiring may be defective. Consult an electrician to repair the wiring.
- Turn off the power at the circuit breaker.
- Remove the old doorbell.
IMPORTANT: Always be careful when handling electrical wires. If you don’t feel comfortable installing them yourself, always contact a qualified electrician to complete the installation for you.
Doorbell Installation

Choose a mounting location. (the recommended mounting height is 48″ / 1.2 m from the ground.)

Mounting on a sturdy surface?
Brick, concrete, and stucco require a special touch! Use a 15/64″ (6mm) drill bit to drill the holes following the screw hole guides on the mounting template.
Tip: Make sure you have the right drill bit for the job!
NOTE: A Power Drill, 15/64″ (6mm) drill bit, mounting bracket, 15° mounting wedge (optional), and screw pack are required for mounting installation. -
Connect the wires to the terminals on the back of the doorbell and tighten the terminal screws. The wires can be connected to any terminal.

Use the provided mounting screws to secure the Doorbell to the wall.

Once the Doorbell is mounted, place the faceplate over the Doorbell. Securely fasten the faceplate with the security screw.

Turn the power back on at the breaker.

Return to the Night Owl app and select “Wired Ring Enabled” to activate the ringer.
Connecting the Doorbell to a Chime
Personalize Your Setup: Connecting your Doorbell to the Night Owl Chime. (Optional Add-On)
- After adding the doorbell to your Night Owl app, open the app and select your doorbell from the list of devices.
- Click the gear icon on the top right and under “Feature Control” click “Doorbell”.
- Click “Add a Chime” and “Continue”.
For more detailed instructions on how to configure your Night Owl Chime, please
refer to the doorbell user manual.
NOTE: If AC power is used, do not turn on the “Wired Ring Enabled”
switch, otherwise the Doorbell will burn out.
Connecting your Doorbell to a Mechanical or Digital Chime.
For detailed instructions on how to connect your doorbell to an existing
mechanical or digital chime, please refer to the doorbell user manual.
Connecting the Night Owl Hub
Personalize Your Setup: Connecting your Doorbell to the Night Owl Hub. (Sold
Seperately)
The Night Owl Hub can be used as both a recorder and a chime. Once the
doorbell has been pressed, the hub can be configured to start recording and
play a chime with its built-in speaker. Follow these steps to setup your Night
Owl Hub with your doorbell.
- Open the Night Owl application and select the Hub.
- Click “+” at the bottom of the screen.
- Proceed to the “Pair Your Cameras” page, activate the doorbell to be in pairing mode, and then click “Continue” to begin the pairing process.
- Once the Hub has paired with your doorbell, click “Continue” to finalize the pairing process.
NOTE: If AC power is used, do not turn on the “Wired Ring Enabled” switch, otherwise the Doorbell will burn out.

protection against frequency interference in residential installation. This
equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy, and if not
installed or used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful
interference to radio communication. However, there is no guarantee that

by turning the equipment off and on. The user is encouraged to try and correct

- Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
