Product Usage Instructions

Installing the AI NVR 2 Premium Form D Analytics Kit

  1. Step 1: Preparing for Installation
  2. Turn off the AI NVR 2 Premium Form D and disconnect all peripherals.
  3. Remove all network, power, and peripheral cables from the system.
  4. If necessary, remove the system from the rack and place it on a flat surface.
  5. Step 2: Opening the Cover
  6. Use a screwdriver to rotate the lock counterclockwise and lift the system cover.
  7. Press the tabs on the top cover to remove it from the GPU air shroud.
  8. Step 3: Installing the Analytics Kit
  9. Unpack the Analytics Kit and remove the plaster sticker from the heatsink.
  10. Locate slot 7 on the rightmost expansion riser at the back of the AI NVR 2 Premium Form D.
  11. If expansion boards are present, disconnect internal cables and remove the PCI riser cage.
  12. Step 4: Reassembling and Confirming Installation
  13. Reinstall the expansion card risers, attach the cover, and confirm the installation.
  14. Verify the upgrade and GPU configurations.

Installing the AI NVR 2 Premium Form D Analytics Kit

NOTE
If the AI NVR 2 Premium Form D is an operating part of your security system, be aware that it must be shut down to complete this procedure.

Before starting to install the kit:

  1. Turn off the AI NVR 2 Premium Form D, including all attached peripherals.
    WARNING Opening or removing the system cover while the system is powered on may expose you to a risk of electric shock.

  2. Disconnect the AI NVR 2 Premium Form D from the electrical outlet and disconnect the peripherals.

  3. Remove all network, power and peripheral cables from the AI NVR 2 Premium Form D.

  4. If applicable, remove the system from the rack and place on a flat, level surface.
    IMPORTANT Whenever you need to lift the system, get others to assist you. To avoid injury, do not attempt to lift the system by yourself.

Recommended Tools
The following tools are not included in the kit package, but are needed to complete the installation:

  • Wrist-grounding strap connected to the ground

  • ESD Mat
    IMPORTANT It is recommended that you always use an antistatic mat and antistatic strap while working on components inside the system.

  • 1/4-inch flat head or a Phillips #2 screwdriver

Opening the Cover

  1. Remove the complete access panel:

    • a. Using a 1/4-inch flat head or a Phillips #2 screwdriver, rotate the lock counterclockwise to the unlock position.
    • b. Lift the release latch until the system cover slides back.
    • c. Lift the cover from the system.
      NOTE Turn the access panel over to locate the server access panel label. This label provides convenient access to component identification, LED status indicators, and system maintenance switch settings information.
  2. Press the tabs on either sides of the top cover, and lift the top cover out of the GPU air shroud.

  3. Hold and lift the filler from the GPU air shroud.

Installing the Analytics Kit in Slot 7 of Expansion Riser

  1. Unpack the Analytics Kit and remove the plaster sticker from the heatsink.
  2. Locate slot 7, found in the rightmost expansion riser on the back of the AI NVR 2 Premium Form D. This is where the Analytics Kit will be installed.
  3. If expansion boards with internal cabling are installed on the PCI riser cage, disconnect all internal cables from the expansion boards to remove the cage from the server.
  4. Remove the PCI riser cage:
    • a. Loosen the captive screws on the riser.
    • b. Press the blue release tab and holding the edges, lift the expansion card riser from the riser connector on the system board.
    • c. Disconnect the GPU power cable and signal cable from the system board.
  5. Lift the expansion card latch and remove the GPU blank from slots 7 and 8.
  6. Install the Analytic Kit in slot 7 of the expansion riser.
    • a. Connect the GPU power cord to the Analytics Kit.
    • b. Slide the card into the slot guide opposite the connector to align the connector on the card with the connector on the riser.
    • c. Insert the card edge connector firmly into the expansion card connector until the card is fully seated.
    • d. Press the card holder latch to secure the Analytics Kit to the riser.
    • e. After the card is installed, close the expansion card latch.
  7. Reinstall the PCI riser cage back into the AI NVR 2 Premium Form D and reconnect any internal cables from the expansion boards.

Installing the Second Analytics Kit

Removing the Expansion Card Risers

  1. Loosen the captive screws on the system board, expansion card risers 1 and 3.
  2. Remove each expansion card riser:
    • a. Press the blue release tab or button.
    • b. Hold the edges of the expansion card riser and lift it from the system board.

Moving the Original T1000 GPU
Before you can install the GPU from the second analytics kit, the original GPU must be moved between the two removed expansion card risers.

  1. Remove the GPU from slot 2 of expansion card riser 1:
    • a. Open the latch on the expansion card riser.
    • b. Press the tab and pull the card holder from the riser.
    • c. Hold the GPU by the edges and pull it from the riser.
    • d. Disconnect the GPU power cable.
  2. Install the GPU in slot 4 of expansion card riser 3:
    • a. Locate slot 4, found in the middle expansion riser on the back of the AI NVR 2 Premium Form D.
    • b. If installed, remove the GPU blank.
    • c. Connect the power cable to the GPU.
    • d. Align the connector on the GPU with the slot on the riser.
    • e. Insert the GPU into the slot. Press until firmly seated.
    • f. Press the tab to secure the GPU.
    • g. Close the expansion card latch.

Installing the Second GPU
The GPU from the second analytics kit can now be installed in the slot where the original GPU was located.

  1. Install the GPU in slot 2 of expansion card riser 1.
    • a. Connect the power cable to the GPU.
    • b. Align the connector on the GPU with the slot on the riser.
    • c. Insert the GPU into the slot. Press until firmly seated.
    • d. Press the tab to secure the GPU.
    • e. Close the expansion card latch.

Reinstalling the Expansion Card Risers

  1. Reinstall expansion card riser 1 and 3:
    • a. Holding by the edges, align the holes on expansion card riser and the system board.
    • b. Lower the expansion card riser into place.
    • c. Press the touch points until the expansion card riser is fully seated in the system board.
    • d. Tighten the captive screws on the expansion card riser and system board.

Reattaching the Cover

When all the components of the kit have been installed:

  1. Ensure all expansion card latches are closed and there are filler covers for all empty slots.

  2. Reinstall the GPU air shroud.

  3. Close and lock the AI NVR 2 Premium Form D access panel.

  4. If the AI NVR 2 Premium Form D was rack mounted and removed to install the kit, remount it into the rack.

  5. Reconnect all the peripherals and cables.
    IMPORTANT Ensure that both of the 1400W power supplies are connected to main power. The upgraded AI NVR 2 Premium Form D requires both power supplies to properly function.

  6. Power on the AI NVR 2 Premium Form D.

Confirming the Installation

Verifying the Upgrade

  1. Log in to the ACC Client on a workstation on the same network as the AI NVR 2 Premium Form D.
  2. In the System Explorer, click Site Setup, and click  Site to expand the site containing the upgraded AI NVR 2 Premium Form D.
  3. Click  to select the upgraded AI NVR 2 Premium Form D server.
  4. Verify the status of the upgraded AI NVR 2 Premium Form D and the presence of the graphic card:
    • a. Click Server Management to open the Server Management panel.
    • b. Click Trust to accept the server certificate.
    • c. Enter the administrator credentials for the AI NVR 2 Premium Form D.
    • d. On the Server Management Dashboard, check that:
    • The status indicators on the ACC Server and System cards are green.
    • The correct number of graphic cards appear on the Accelerators card and their status is green. See GPU Configurations below for more informtion.
    • e. Log out of the Server Management and close the panel.
  5. Verify that the analytics features are available under Server Analytics:
    • a. Click Server Analytics  under the upgraded AI NVR 2 Premium Form D server. For more information, see the Enabling Analytics topic in the ACC Client Help.
    • b. Verify that the following analytics features are available:
    • Classified Object Detection (requires ACC7-VAC licenses)
    • Appearance Search (requires ACC7-ENT licenses)
    • Face Mask Detection (requires ACC7-ENT licenses)
    • Face Recognition (requires ACC7-FACE licenses)
    • c. Only cameras that you have access to that have the prerequisite analytics enabled are displayed in each tab. If you do not see a tab, it could be because your site does not have the required analytics license.

GPU Configurations
The number of GPUs in your AI NVR 2 Premium Form D will vary depending on the number of analytics kits installed. Use the table below to confirm your installation.
