Transperth Accessible Services at a Glance
Bus Services
All NEW Transperth buses are fully accessible, however there may still be some
older busses on the road. You can check which services are accessible on the
Transperth website.
Train Accessibility
Transperth offers accessible toilets at all major bus and train stations.
Accessible parking is free and available at every station with parking.
Mobility Aids
If your mobility aid meets the specifications, you may use it on the
Transperth Network. Some oversized devices may be too big to take on board.
Transperth Staff
Staff members are available at all major bus and train stations. They can also
arrange to meet you at smaller stations. If a staff member isn’t present and
you require assistance, press the emergency button.
Bus Stops
Transperth is currently rolling out a program that aims to upgrade bus stops
so they comply with the Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport.
Assistance Animals
As long as you follow all the guidelines your guide dog or Department of Local
Government Approved Assistance Dog may travel with you on the services.
Ferries
All ferries and jetties are accessible.
1 TRANSPERTH ACCESSIBLE SERVICES AT A GLANCE
Know the Rules
You can take it onboard if:
· It fits entirely within a 1300mm by 800mm space. This is the size of the
allocated places on buses, trains and ferries.
· It is no more than 750mm wide.
· It weighs less than 300kg, including you and an assistant if you have one.
This is the safe weight limit of boarding devices such as ramps.
· It has an effective braking system.
· It can move backwards and forwards when required.
· It can turn 180 degrees within an area 2070mm by 1540mm.
· It is able to cross a horizontal gap up to 50mm wide.
· It can mount a vertical rise (bump) up to 15mm high.
· It is able to cross grating gaps up to 13mm wide and 150mm long.
· It can cross a gap up to 75mm wide if you are accessing pedestrian level
crossings.
· Can safely negotiate a 1:14 grade ramp unassisted.
· It can negotiate up to a 1:8 grade ramp that is less than 1520mm long.
· It is able to negotiate a 1:4 grade ramp with assistance.

Park your scooter so it faces forward Ensure it’s turned off and keys are
removed Take a seat on the provided priority seat, and enjoy the ride!

If you are heading into an area that you are unfamiliar with, ensure you take
your time beforehand to plan your journey. Transperth offers a great tool
called Journey Planner. It helps you ensure you are prepared for every step of
the way!

How to use the Journey Planner
The JourneyPlanner can be found on the homepage of the Transperth website
www.transperth.wa.gov.au
We have broken it down into 6 easy to follow steps:
Step 1
Next to “Start”, enter where you are leaving from. This can be a street
address, landmark or stop number. Now enter your destination in the field
thext to “End”.
Step 2
Enter your Travel dates and time. Depending on when you are travelling, you
can select “Arrive By”, “Leave After”, “Earliest Trip”, or “Last Trip”.
Step 3
You can click “Plan Journey” now to see all route options, or you can select
which modes of transport you want to use – either bus, train, ferry or school
bus. If a mode icon is highighted green, it means it has been selected. To
unselect “Bus, Train, Ferry, or School Bus,” click on the green icon and it
will turn grey. If an icon is grey you will not be shown a journey that
includes that mode of tranport. Once you have clicked “Plan Journey”, your
journey option will be displayed.

How to use the Journey Planner continued
Step 4
At this point, you can customise your journey to suit your needs by adjusting
the “Walk Speed”, “Maximum Number of Connections” and “Maximum Walking
Distance”. Once you click “Update”, the journey options that meet your
selected requirements will be shown.
Step 5
Click the “View” button next to your preffered journey option for more detail.
Note: If you see this symbol , it means that there are some service
disruptions on one of the routes you have selected. Click on the red symbol to
find out more about the disruptions.
5 PLAN YOUR JOURNEY
Step 6
You have a number of options to navigate the map. You can click on “Expand
Map” to make the Map area larger or zoom in and out by clicking on the plus
and/or minus icons on the right-hand side of the map. You can also choose to
print the directions, by selecting the print icon on the top right.

Always Plan Your Journey
Tell someone about your travel plans
Always use the lift If your unsure where they are, ask a staff member
for help.
If you’re catching a bus after 7pm ask the driver to drop you off at any point
along the route.
Download and use the App Download the Tranperth App for live tracking of your
services, journey planning and more.

Avoid Peak Times If you can travel outside of peak times when the services
are less busy do so.
Stop where the driver can see you. When waiting for a service always stop
somewhere where the driver can easily see you.
