Product Usage Instructions

Check Firmware Version:

1. Long press the [O] button to open the System Workspace Menu screen.
2. Press the [Update] button to open the SystemUpdate screen.
3. The installed firmware version is displayed.

Format USB Memory

1. Insert the USB drive and long press the [O] button to open the System Workspace Menu screen.
2. Press the [Settings] button to open the System Settings screen.
3. Select the [Format] tab and press the [Format USB Memory] to format the drive.

Download & Copy the Update Files

1. Access the Zildjian website and navigate to the downloads page.
2. Download the E-VAULT v1.1.1 firmware update: _EVAULT_Update_v1_11.zip
3. Download the E-VAULT Sound Library*: _sound_lib_mastere.bin
4. Unzip the firmware update and copy all files to the root directory of the flash drive.
5. Insert the flash drive into the MEMORY slot.

Update the Firmware

1. Power on the module and long press the [O] button to open the System Workspace Menu screen.
2. Press the [Update] button to open the System Update screen.
3. Press the [Update Firmware] button on the System Update screen.
4. Wait for the update process to complete. The module will automatically power down when finished.

Install the Sound Library

1. Power on the module and long press the [O] button to open the System Workspace Menu screen.
2. Press the [Sounds] button to open the E-VAULT Sounds screen.
3. Select the Install Full Sound Library tab on the E-VAULT Sounds screen.

FAQ

• Q: Do I need to download and install the sound library again if I previously had firmware version 1.10 installed?
• A: No, if you had firmware version 1.10 along with the sound library, there is no need to download and install the sound library again.

This guide provides instructions for updating the E-VAULT module’s firmware and sound library.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

To update the system to version 1.1.1, verify the current firmware version installed on your module. Below are the necessary steps to follow based on your current firmware version:

• Installed Firmware: v1.0, 1.05, 1.011
• Download the firmware update and sound library update (Step 1)
• Install the v1.1.1 firmware update (Step 2)
• Install the full sound library update (Step 3)
• Complete the E-VAULT Setup (Step 4

Installed Firmware: v1.10

• Download just the firmware update (Step 1)
• Install the v1.1.1 firmware update (Step 2)

CHECK FIRMWARE VERSION

1. Long press the [O] button to open the System Workspace Menu screen
2. Press the [ Update] button to open the System Update screen
3. The installed firmware version is displayed.

FORMAT USB MEMORY

The included 32GB USB flash drive must be formatted (FAT32) before use.

1.  Insert the drive. Long press the [O] button to open the System Workspace Menu screen.
2. Press the [ Settings] button to open the System Settings screen
3. Select the [Format] tab and press the [Format USB Memory] to format the drive

DOWNLOAD & COPY THE UPDATE FILES

Access the Zildjian website and navigate to the downloads page

1. Download the E-VAULT v1.1.1 firmware update:\ EVAULT_Update_v1_1_1.zip
2. Download the E-VAULT Sound Library*: sound_lib_master_e.bin
3. Unzip the firmware update.
4. Copy all three files to the root directory of the flash drive as shown.
5. Insert the flash drive into the MEMORY slot. The firmware update zip contains two bin files: zoe_main_fw.bin, smz_trg.bin\ The sound library bin file is 3.7 GB. It will take some time to download and copy to the flash  drive.

*If you previously installed firmware version 1.10 along with the sound library, there is a need to download and install the sound library again

UPDATE THE FIRMWARE

After copying the files to the flash drive, the next step is to update the E-VAULT module’s firmware. This process updates the system to version 1.1.1

Access the System Update screen

1. Power on the module.

2. Long press the [O] button to open the System Workspace Menu screen.

3.  Press the [ Update] button to open the System Update screen
   Update the Firmware

4. On the System Update Screen, press the [Update Firmware] button.

5. When the update starts, the button LEDs will turn off and a progress bar will display.

6. When the update process is completed, the E-VAULT module automatically powers down.

7. Leave the flash drive inserted for the next step

It is normal for the progress bar to move slowly during the last part of the firmware update. Please do not disconnect the module power during the update process

INSTALL THE SOUND LIBRARY

Access the E-VAULT Sounds screen

1. Power on the module.

2. Long press the [O] button to open the System Workspace Menu screen.

3. Press the [ Sounds] button to open the E-VAULT Sounds screen
   Install the Full Sound Library

4. On the E-VAULT Sounds screen, select the Install Full Sound Library tab.

5. Press the [Install Sound Library] button.

6. When the installation starts, the button LEDs turn red, and a progress bar displays.

7. During the installation process, the update log reports the completion of system steps.

8. When the installation is completed, the button LEDs turn green. The update log also lists the full contents of the installed sound library.

9. Press the power button to shut down the module. This step is essential to complete the update.

When the module is powered back on again, the E-VAULT Setup process runs automatically. Please refer to the instructions in the next section.

E -VAULT SETUP

Select Kit Model and Initialize Trigger Settings
E-VAULT v1.1.1 is a major update that necessitates running the E-VAULT Setup process. Follow the onscreen instructions to select your kit model and dynamic playing style. These selections are used to initialize E-VAULT with a factory trigger profile designed for your kit.

1. Select the option that matches your ALCHEM-E Kit Model: Bronze EX, Gold, or Gold EX.
2. Press the [Continue] button.
3. Select the trigger settings option that is closest to your dynamic playing style:Light, Medium, or Heavy.
4. Press the [Finish] button.When the E-VAULT setup process is completed, the Kit Play screen displays

E-VAULT Setup can be run manually by accessing the System Settings screen’s [Reset] tab and pressing the [E-VAULT Setup] button. The module will power down and the E-VAULT Setup process will run on the next restart.

E-VAULT Setup initializes the system with a factory trigger profile designed for your ALCHEM-E kit
model. The factory settings offer solid out-of-the-box triggering, but before playing, it is recommended to complete the three-step hihat control setup process.
