IKEA SÄLJAN Blat Alb Laminat
The worktop is made of melamine laminate pressed onto particleboard. Melamine laminate is made by pressing melamine-resin-impregnated paper together. Applying pressure with heat hardens the surface and, when cooled down, a permanent and durable plastic finish is the result. Melamine laminate is used for surfaces that need to withstand daily wear and tear for a long time. Alterations are not recommended, except where cutting the worktop is necessary for installation, and additional edge covering is supplied with the product.
Advice for use
Before installation
- Before installation, store the worktop in a room with normal temperature and humidity levels. Do not place the worktop against a warm radiator, or lay it on a cold floor.
- When storing the worktop, stand it on the back edge of its long side.
- Do not open the plastic package until you are ready to install the worktop.
- Supporting legs are required when an overhang exceeds 25 cm. The maximum distance between these legs should not be more than 80 cm.
- Worktops that are installed above a dishwasher, washing machine, or oven should be protected on the underside with FIXA diffusion barrier.
- Not suitable for use in wet rooms.
- Only recommended for indoor use.
Care and maintenance
- For daily cleaning, use ordinary washing-up detergent, soap or water. Never use chemicals to clean the worktop.
- If you spill something on the worktop, wipe clean immediately with a soft cloth dampened in water and a mild washing-up detergent or soap.
- Do not use products that contain abrasives, ammonia, or bleach. Dry with a dry, clean cloth.
- Do not place hot objects directly on the worktop. Always use a pot stand to protect the worktop surface.
- Always use a chopping board, and never cut directly on the worktop with a knife.
- Never pull an object with rough or ragged edges across the worktop as it can scratch the surface
- Do not place a toaster, coffee maker, kettle, or other kitchen appliances that emit heat directly over a seam between two worktops because the heat can damage the seam.
- Never use a steel scourer, scourer pad, or similar products as they can scratch the surface.
For matt black surfaces only: Marks and small scratches can be removed with a melamine sponge.
