Important information when installing Custom Panel Blind
1 Pencil to mark bracket holes in fixing position.
2 Drill with selected size drill bit for pilot holes (Test pilot hole size is
correct on sample material. We suggest testing one masonry hole is correct for
green plugs prior to drilling all holes) Use a stud finder to locate studs or
other solid fixings You may require different drill bits depending on
different materials. Consult your qualified local hardware for further
assistance if required.
3 Phillips head screwdriver or 150mm long Phillips’s head drill attachment,
whichever is preferred.
4 Fixing screws for brackets. (Note*: Screws are not provided by Blinds
Downunder, due to the different nature with fixing Brackets to different
materials. As a rough guide we recommend.
5 40mm x 6 gaugeTimber screws for face fit timber, MDF architraves or plaster
into stud fixing.
6 6-gauge self-tapping screws for aluminium or steel fixings
7 We do not recommend fixing brackets directly to plasterboard only without
studs. If you choose to proceed with this option, toggle bolts or plaster
plugs, are sometimes recommended by your qualified local hardware store, as a
last resort for fixing brackets. The hardware store will most likely recommend
the highest load bearing capacity plugs and check if screws fit through
bracket holes. Blinds Downunder only recommends fixing to solid substrates
behind plaster ie; Timber noggins, Timber/steel lintels or Timber or steel
studs.
8 Green Plugs and appropriate screws for masonry fixing, as guided by
qualified local hardware store.
9 With Top/Ceiling mount brackets you may require toggle bolts or other
recommended fixings from your local hardware store. This is because your
ceiling may have plaster battens or no timber to fix too. Timber lined
ceilings are very convenient to fix brackets to and 20mm timber screws should
be adequate.
10 You may require additional assistance to help with the installation of long
Panel Tracks. It is important you don’t bend the tracks when installing and
moving tracks around from location to location. Brackets need to be installed
on the same straight parallel line (level). Test how the brackets clip into
the panel track on ground prior to installing up in the air.
11 Make sure clips are all fixed in the same location on brackets.
12 Each of your panels and panel tracks will have a sticker on them detailing
the Room name.

they are out of the way while installing.
14 Lay the panels down on a clean surface. If your panels are white colour, we
recommend you wear white cotton gloves to avoid marks on the fabric.
We recommend if you are unsure, that you take photos of install area and

Face Fit Panel Blind Track installation
Determine the top height of your track based on your actual drop height
inputted on your order. Using a stud finder mark your studs with painter’s
tape, try to fix brackets at 600mm centres or 900mm centres maximum. You may
wish to add an extra bracket to support panels weight on the stacked end. Set
the tape in a position you can mark your level (top height). You can now sit
the top of your bracket to the top height line and mark bracket hole locations
on each stud. Predrill holes in these locations. Be sure to keep your finished
height line marked. Fix brackets to wall. Masonry construction will require
the same measuring technique with different fixing method. Prepare the
brackets to clip panels track. With an extra pair of hands lift track and clip
into brackets. Ensure track is level when clipping to brackets. For longer
tracks have more pairs of hands to assist. Panels tracks can be delicate,
handle with care.
Top/Ceiling Mount Custom Panel Blind Track installation
Determine bracket location off wall or cornice, determine fixing method based
on your ceiling construction. This can be determined with a multipurpose stud
finder. It is likely toggle bolts will be required to fix brackets to your
plaster ceiling. Brackets need to run parallel lines. Using painters tape mark
your bracket locations at approximately 600mm – 900mm maximum centres, then
mark your bracket holes. You may wish to add an extra bracket to support panel
weight on the stacked end. Now Drill and install fixings. Prepare the brackets
to clip panel track (open bracket cams). With an extra pair of hands lift
track and clip into brackets. Ensure track is level when clipping to brackets.
For longer tracks have more pairs of hands to assist. Panel tracks can be
delicate, handle with care.

IMPORTANT CHILD SAFETY INFORMATION
Finally: Secure the cord off to the wall or inside of the reveal with a Child Safety Device to
comply with the Australian Child safety Regulations. It is required internal window covering
`must be installed in a way that a loose cord cannot form a loop 220 mm or longer at less
than 1600 mm above floor level’. Cord guides–may be installed lower than 1600 mm
above floor level, so long as the cord guide will remain firmly attached to a wall or other
structure specified in the ACCC installation instructions, when subjected to a tension force
of 70 N (Newtons) applied in any direction for 10 seconds and cannot form a loop 220 mm-
or longer at less than 1600mm above floor level. A force of 70 N is approximately equal to
applying a 7 kilogram weight and has been assessed as the likely amount of force a child
may exert on a blind cord guide by grabbing, pulling or hanging on it. Solid fixing is
–
required when fixing Child Safety Devices. Double sided tape or glue is non- compliant and
is unsatisfactory. If you are unsure seek professional advice. All blinds require warning
labels and our installer labels to be permanently installed. These guidelines need to be
followed for child safety compliance. Refer to our child safety page, ACCC guidelines an-d
downloads. These standards are required on all corded roller blind installs. By purchasing
our product, you agree to comply with ACCC guidelines on all roller blind supplied by Blinds
Downunder.
ACCC SAFETY TIPS AT HOME
When installing new blinds and curtains, make sure you or the installer secure
any loose or looped cords–do not leave them hanging down. Go through every
room in your home and check for any blinds or curtains with long cords that
are either loose or looped. Remember, this includes any cords that are within
children’s reach at floor level or near furniture they can climb on. Do not
put children’s cots, beds, highchairs or playpens near a window where children
can reach blind or curtain cords. The cords can become tangled around
children’s necks and strangle them. Do not place sofas, chairs, tables,
shelves, or bookcases near windows with corded blinds or curtains. As young
children like to climb onto furniture to look out the window, they may quickly
become entangled in the cords, lose their footing, and suffer strangulation or
serious injuries. Accidental strangulation can happen very quickly, so never
leave children alone in rooms where cords are unsecured if you’re visiting
someone’s home, even for a short while. Some blinds can’t operate properly
without looped cords. To keep them out of children’s reach you should secure
these cords with either: tie-downs (cleats), or tension devices that enclose
cords and chain loops. Always fix tie-downs and tension devices firmly to the
wall or window-frame so a child is not able to remove them. Never use
materials that can’t support a significant load, such as double-sided tape or
glue.
WARNING: CURTAIN AND BLIND CORDS HAVE CAUSED THE DEATH OF YOUNG CHILDREN AND MUST BE INSTALLED SO THAT THEY ARE NOT A STRANGULATION HAZARD. FOLLOW THE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
