 SETUP/INFLATION INSTRUCTION

  1. Always practice at home before setting up your shelter for the first time at a campsite. Always follow the installation/inflation instructions in this manual.

  2. Find a flat location, away from trees, to avoid any falling branches or resin that could damage your shelter.

  3. Unpack the shelter and clearly identify the various components: the shelter, the bag of pegs, the hand pump as well as the pressure gauge. (0-CHECK LIST)Coleman-2197664-Air-Event-Shelter- \(1\)

  4. Roll out your shelter and lay it flat with the logos showing. Attach the four V-shaped metal pegs to the four corners of the shelter. (2-SET UP)
Each inflatable beam of your shelter has a connector that lets air pass from one inflatable beam to the other. This is a safety system that enables each inflatable beam to be isolated in the event of a leak. (1-INFLATED STRUCTURE)

  5. Check that the 4 connectors on each beam of your shelter are in the open position, to allow air to pass between inflatable beam during inflation.

  6. Your shelter includes several valves: 2 high-pressure valves (C) and 2 Boston valves (B). They are located on the outside of each shelter beam. (1-INFLATED STRUCTURE)Coleman-2197664-Air-Event-Shelter- \(2\)

  7. Only use a high-pressure valve to inflate. To help you find them more easily, the high-pressure valves have a red marker visible from the outside. Check that the other valves are shut. Open the high-pressure valve cap by turning it anticlockwise. Check and make sure the spring loaded pin is not depressed and locked in the open position. To verify that the valve is not open, check the position of the pin. If the pin is down, the valve is opened. To close it, push the pin so it springs back up. Now the valve is closed and ready for inflation. (4-SET UP)

  8. The entire inflation is done in the closed position and deflation in the open position.

  9. Connect the pump hose to the high-pressure valve, then start inflating the inflatable beam to 4 PSI to put up your shelter. (4-SET UP)
    NOTE
To help the awning inflate to its correct structure a gentle lift on the inflatable sections maybe required.

  10. Once your shelter has taken shape, you need to add the adjustment straps to create a proper floor surface and obtain a square. (5-SET UP) It is important to observe the colour code. The straps on both diagonals have a red marker (x2). The straps on the sides have a yellow marker (x4), You can adjust the four V-shaped metal pegs.

  11. To do this, take the straps from the pump bag and attach them to the leg of each inflatable beam using the buckles. (5-SET UP)

  12. Continue to inflate the shelter until you achieve the required pressure of 6.5 to 7 PSI. (6-SET UP)
    WARNING
Do not over inflate your awning since pressure could increase during rising temperatures over your camping stay.

  13. After inflation is done and you reached the correct pressure, disconnect the hose from the valve (turn the pump fitting anticlockwise) and close the valve cover. Note: The valve will not be completely airtight until closed with the valve cover tightened.

  14. Make sure that the tension between all the pegs is correct and that the shelter is square shaped.

  15. Placing pegs (7-SET UP):

    • Use the rod-shaped metal pegs all around the shelter for the reflective tensioners .
    • Use the plastic pegs for the fastening straps.
    • Use the flat-headed pegs for the adjustment straps.
  16. Always use all the fixings. Make sure that the shelter does not distort due to the tension of the tensioners by adjusting the position of the sliders. Check the tensioners and straps regularly for tension during your stay.

  17. You can remove the adjustment straps once your shelter is fully attached using the buckles.

  18. If you suspect an air-leak, check that air valve is closed properly, both pin loaded spring and outer cover.

  19. If air pole is still leaking, a complete check of the inner tube is needed. Please refer to maintenance part of this manual.

NOTE: You will find an adjustable spanner in your repair kit (Fig. 1). This tool only needs to be used if the high-pressure valve is leaking. This can happen in transit or after it has been used several times. In the event of leakage problems, inflate the inflatable beam correctly, leave the cap open and screw the valve body firmly clockwise using the spanner.

WARNING

  • Pressure will rise and decrease with increasing/decreasing temperature.
  • Regularly check pressure during prolonged stay (squeeze & feel air poles pressure).
  • If the temperature is rising and poles feels too hard, release some pressure by pushing briefly on the valve pin then, plug your pump and inflate to adjust to the recommended pressure.

TEAR DOWN/ DEFLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Detach the reflective tensioners, tie straps, adjustment straps and all the pegs. (1/3-SET DOWN)
  2. To deflate your shelter, open the 4 connectors on each inflatable beam. (2-SET DOWN)
  3. Then open all the valves located on each beam. On high-pressure valves, turn the valve cap anticlockwise. Push the spring loaded pin until it stays down. The valve is now opened and pole starts to deflate. Wait until air poles are completely deflated. (4-SET DOWN) Note: a loud noise could occur when push the pin – this is normal. On Boston valves, simply unscrew the valve. Wait until the inflatable beams are completely deflated.
  4. Roll up and/or fold the shelter to expel as much air as possible from the inflatable beam. Note: You can use the pump in “Deflate” mode to help remove the air from the inflatable beams. To do this, detach your hose and attach it to the opposite “Deflate” inlet. (4-SET DOWN)
  5. Lay the shelter out flat again, fold it and roll it up to fit into the carry bag. (5-SET DOWN)
  6.  Put the pegs and pump away in their bags. (5-SET DOWN)
  7. Make sure your awning is completely dry before storing it to avoid mould and rust from gathering on the metal parts.

CARE, STORAGE, CLEANING

  1. Store your shelter in a cool, dry, well-ventilated and clean place. Never leave your packed shelter exposed to direct sunlight. Choose a place in the shade.
  2. The shelter must only be cleaned with clean water and a soft sponge if it is soiled. Never use detergents, soaps or brushes on your shelter, as this could cause considerable damage to the fabric and adversely affect its waterproofing properties.
  3. Never spray insecticides on or in the shelter, as this could cause considerable damage to the fabric and adversely affect your shelter’s waterproofing properties.
  4. If the sealing tape is peeling off (this can happen after prolonged exposure to the sun and normal ageing of the shelter), you can repair it by removing the part which has peeled off and using seam  sealant (on the inside) and waterproofing spray (on the outside) to re-seal your seams.

 REPAIR/REPLACE AIR POLE TUBE

  1. Fully deflate the faulty inflatable beam by opening the valve.

  2. Then open the zip on the main sleeve and remove the inflatable beam from the sleeve.

  3. One or more connectors need to be removed depending on the beam concerned. To do this, you need to:

    • Unscrew the tube nut. (Fig.2)

    •  Pull on the tube to extract it from the fitting. (Fig.3)
There are two springs in the tube, so be careful not to lose them. (Fig.4)

    • This disconnects your inflatable beam from the rest of the structure.

  4. Unzip the sleeve on the fabric and remove the inflatable beam from the sleeve.

  5. Cut the zip-tie used to maintain the zipper sliders of your air pole envelope.
    WARNING
Never unzip the envelope when the air pole is inflated – this could cause the bladder to quickly pop out and explode.

  6. Take the air bladder out from its envelope. Do not completely remove the air bladder. Do not extract it completely. Do not remove/unscrew the high-pressure valve. Take care not to damage the inner tube around the valve by pulling too hard. If necessary, you can unscrew the ring on the connector to take out the sleeve inner tube (Fig.5/6).

  7. To check the position of the leakage, inflate the air bladder and, using a basin of water, locate the position of the puncture.

  8. Clean the area around the puncture to remove water, grease and dirt.

  9. Apply the provided Coleman repair adhesive patch to perfectly cover the puncture. Do NOT cut the repair patch to ensure maximum repair efficacy – Rub the patch over the inner tube until it adheres fully.

  10. Once completely glued (minimum 30 minutes), slide back carefully the bladder into the envelope. Close the zip sliders (always take care not to catch the bladder into the zip sliders). Be sure to refit all the components correctly.

  11. Refit the beam in the zipped sleeve on the shelter. Refit the ring on the connector. Reattach the tube to the fitting, not forgetting to tighten the nut.

  12. To ensure an effective repair, inflate the beam to the recommended pressure and then check the pressure after a while. Once the repair is complete, deflate the inflatable beam slightly and secure the two sliders with a plastic tie.

  13. The repair patches provided into your repair kit are fit for small holes (10mm length) – If you are not able to repair (larger puncture, valve issue …), you shall replace completely the air pole (bladder  and envelope). Spares Poles are available from your Coleman® aftersales service.
