  • First, take the awning and place it parallel to the van. Leave approximately 1m space between the main body of the awning and the van.
  • Simulate hanging/positioning the connection tunnel to check if you are at the right distance, then place your tunnel back on the ground.
  • Loosely peg the four main corners of the awning using the large plastic pegs to secure in position.
  • Insert a fiberglass pole into the front pole sleeve of the awning, locate over-attached steel pins on either side, and clip the flysheet to the poles.
  • Raise the pole using the front two storm straps and loosely secure in place with large steel pegs
  • Working backward towards the rear of the awning insert, pin, and clip the remaining poles.
  • Before squaring out, close all of the awning’s main doors.
  • Depending on the attachment system that you have on the van, feed the removable Kador strip into your C rail or retractable awning (Kador strip sold separately).
  • Then, feed the first figure of 8 sections onto the Kador strip (sold separately).

  • Placing pegs
  • Working towards the front, continue to insert the steel pegs along the sides of the awning. (Fig C).
  • Use plastic pegs for guylines and storm straps. (Fig. D)
  • Use flat-head steel pegs to lay flat the main dropdown doorway as well as the strap that sits at the base of the porch (Fig. E).Coleman-NWL0001367151-Classic-OutdoorXL-Awning-fig5
  • Always use all of the guy lines and storm straps and take care that the awning does not become distorted. Guy lines and storm straps tension by adjusting using their runners or buckles. Check guy lines and storm straps regularly and re-tension when necessary.

  • Open all main doors (including mesh doors) to ensure air easily exits the tent when rolling, prior to placing in the bag.
  • Unpeg guy line and stake points. Detach your awning from the vehicle rail.
  • Remove all fiberglass poles from each pole sleeve, fold them, and place in the pole bag.
  • Lay the awning flat.
  • Fold the awning and roll it to fit the carry bag.
  • Store pegs and poles bags in the carry bag.
  • Ensure your awning is totally dry before storing to ensure it is at its very best and ready for its next use.

Care, Storage, Cleaning

  • Store your awning in a dry, cool, well-ventilated space clean from dirt and debris. Never leave your packed awning in direct sunlight – choose a dark area.
  • Muddy awnings can only be washed using clean water and a soft sponge. Never use detergent, soaps, or a brush on your awning – as this could damage fabrics and reduce the waterproof properties of your awning.
  •  Never spray insecticides on or in the awning – as this could damage fabrics and reduce the waterproof properties of your awning.
  • Should a waterproof seam tape become detached, this can be repaired by removing the loose part and using a seam sealer (inside) combined with a waterproof spray (outside) to re-seal the seam.
