How to update your Razer Blade’s Windows OS

This article will guide you on how to upgrade to the latest version of Microsoft Windows, troubleshoot common problems, and determine known issues on your Razer laptop.
Microsoft Windows 7
Microsoft has retired Windows 7 and no longer offers support. If you still holding onto your trusty Razer Blade, consider upgrading your gear. Visit this page to find our the latest Razer offering.
Microsoft Windows 10
Windows 10 is the latest Operating System (OS) by Microsoft and is available as Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro version.
If you have a Razer Blade laptop running an older OS version, you may be eligible for a limited time to upgrade to Windows 10. See Windows 10 Download page for more information.
Note: Before you install or perform an upgrade to Windows 10, verify if your system meets the system requirements.
Getting Windows 10 update and drivers for Razer Blade
You can obtain the latest Windows 10 and driver update by following the steps below:
- Click the “Start” button or press Windows key, and then go to Settings > Update & Security.
- Select “Windows Update” and click “Check for updates”.
- If there is an available update, select “Download and install” to install it.
- Restart your computer to complete the installation.
Upgrading Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro
If you wish to upgrade your Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro to enjoy advanced security features, you will need a valid product key or digital license for the Blade you are upgrading. See the Upgrade Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro page for details on how you can obtain the key.
To upgrade using a digital license
- Click the “Start” button or press Windows key, and then go to Settings > Update & Security > Activation.
- Click “Go to the Store” and check the following:
- If you see “Install”, you already have activated Windows 10 Pro, click the button to install.
- If you see “Buy”, you need to purchase a Windows 10 Pro license or try to sign in to Microsoft Store with the Microsoft account you linked your purchased Pro license to. Then, install Windows 10 Pro.
To upgrade using a product key
- Click the “Start” button or press Windows key, and then Settings > Update & Security > Activation.
- Select “Change product key”.
- Enter the product key then click “Next” to start the upgrade.
Troubleshooting Windows 10 Update
If you are having difficulty in updating Windows 10, you may use the Windows Update Assistant. Simply download and run the .exe file and follow the instructions to complete the update. You may also check the Windows Update: FAQ page for more details.
